Chapter 148: Messenger

To commemorate the significant event, a grand celebration was organized. Entire main palace was swooning in enthusiasm. Orchids and flowers were used for decoration. The interiors were as fancy as it could be giving it a royal wedding look. Even the workers were dressed extravagantly for today's ceremony. Joy and happiness were everywhere. The head butler was on his toes as he was facing difficulty to manage such a grand wedding nevertheless, he did his best. 

[Hell!!!]

[Who dares to wake me up from my slumber and what is going on here?] Noworry was irritated as he was woken up from all the ongoing cheer. 

"It's a wedding day Noworry."

[Oh!! Oh no. They are so noisy. It's just a wedding so why are they being so loud? Mortals!!]

Noworry would never understand but it was not just a marriage of Maverick and Melanie, but it was a grand celebration as Kingdom would finally get a female overseer, future empress. Everyone just couldn't compress their happiness while they cheered happily.

Severus shook his head and went back to his room. As he was leaning on the window, staring at sunrise, he saw an eagle flying straight at him. Noworry too saw the bird and was going to hit her with his magic but Severus asked him not to. With his sharp eyes, he saw a small note tucked in the bird's right claw. "It's a messenger."

HUH?

Severus didn't explain anything, waiting for the eagle. Like a moving cloud, it soared high in the sky while in the next instant it perched on the slab of the window.

A light chuckle escaped from Severus. "How cute!" He praised it.

Why the hell this feels so uncomfortable? Lil birdie grumbled.

Severus was totally oblivious of Noworry feelings. He patted eagles head while he slowly took out the tugged note. 

 Meet me at the usual place as soon as you can. I have something important for you.

[Is this from Onyx?]

"I wish it has been but no. It doesn't belong to him."

[lazy ass, good for nothing Onyx leader]

".."

[Well, if this is not from him then whom does it belong to?]

Severus took a deep breath. "Someone who was dear to me, in my past life."

HMM?

[I bet everyone was dear to you in your past life so who could it be this time?]

"Melanie"

[OUO. What is she after? Today is her wedding and she still is playing her dirty games. No wonder she is like this after all it's all in her blood. When you talk like an asshole and look like an asshole, you're an asshole]

Severus was speechless. "Enough"

[Are you going to meet her? Severus this isn't good and if you go then this will mean that you have not been able to let go of the past you know. It's basically a trap. We don't know who might be waiting for us at that place, moreover, the venue isn't mentioned there. If we go then it will be the same as announcing yourself as Severus and when you do it, you will be executed for god knows what rubbish reason. Are you getting what I am saying?]

[hey. Hey!!! Reply to me, idiot]

Noworry saw that Severus was not giving any reaction which spiked his anxiety to a new level. He was really afraid that Severus might give in.

"Shut up."

"Who said I am going?"

[you aren't?]

"No. Not until he forces me."

[Useless brat]

Severus tore the paper into pieces as well as tossing them in a fireplace.

Inside a stone cave.

An hour had passed since she had sent her messages but there was no news from him. Melanie who was sitting on the stone stool was now all antsy. Everything was going to change today. If things didn't go according to her plan, then she might end up in a broken marriage. 

"No, no. Not at all. I can't let this happen."

"But if he didn't come then this means that he is not the one?" Melanie gulped in anxiousness at her own remark. She shook her head vigorously.

"No. I can't be mistaken. It was him and I even saw him. He can lie but his heart can't." Her clenched fists displayed the rage inside her heart. "Fine. If he won't give in, then I will make him give in."

She stood up confidently leaving the cave.

"Father" A shocked greeting was heard. 

Inside Maverick room. Marquis entered on his already opened door. "Can I come in son?"

"Of course, father" Maverick who was just done with his shower was applying his skin products when his father knocked on the door. Needless to say, he was half-naked with his bare chest and it somehow made him feel shy to be seen by his father like this.

HAHAHAHA!

A warm old laugh was heard. "I see you have grown up kid and now you are old enough to be married. Aye, time passed like wind and suddenly you are so big now. I still remember the day when you were just a little boy, kicking up here and there. A little mischievous prince" He spoke while reminiscing about the past.

Maverick scratched his head in embarrassment. "Yea father. It's been long."

"I wish your mother could witness your wedding with her eyes. I am sure she would have been very happy seeing you getting married to the love of your life. Ah! I miss your mother."

When his mother was mentioned Maverick felt a pang of sadness in his heart, but it went away as soon as it came. He was just a baby when his mother died It was not like he actually had any of those memories with him. Just like Severus, he contended with everything around him but then . that day changed everything.

"Yea I think the same father. Wasn't mother your love of life too? You never remarried after her. To be honest, sometimes I do envy the bond that you and mother shared."

Hahahaha!

"That's nothing to be envied off Maverick. I am sure you too will form a great bond with Melanie."

"Just like you formed with your mother?"

HA! "Ye just like me and your mother"

What a sweet talk. From other people's perspective, it looked like a casual talk but for both of the speakers, it wasn't the case. They were very well aware of what they were saying. With their guards up against each other, both of them duped their murderous aura behind their fake relation. 

After a little bit Idle chat Marquis left the room.

"Che! Such cheap tricks. My vision might have turned blurry to be able to not see pass through his facade, but then also, he was my father'. Do fathers do what Marquis did to Maverick, making him choose between his happiness or his future? Well, who knows?

Maverick just sat there in a trace, relinquishing his past. 

You are back my brother. Although it's been a while, let's have an official introduction today with me and my wife. I bet you would be happy and will give us your blessings. Well now you are useless to me, but I will admit that I sure miss you. 

AHH!

Knock Knock!

A knock on the door woke Maverick from his dreamy state. 

"Greetings crown prince but his majesty asked us to get you all prepared for today's ceremony."

"Uh. Okay. I guess there is no escape from this huh?"

The maid who entered just kept her quiet and started doing her job when he signaled her to continue.

Today was an important day for Severus. On such a rare occasion he too was dressed up. Today he was wearing a wine-colored shirt paired with a black coat and black pants. Shiny black leather boots were holding his feet whereas a beautiful black cape was draped around his neck which was embroidered with intricate golden details. A shiny black sword stained with a silver blade was hung on his waist while a red cross complemented his loose shirt. It was a complete contrast to his snowy collarbone. The first two buttons which were undone gave Severus a sexy appeal. 

[HUHU... Someone is looking dashing today. I bet only a crown is missing or else you would be looking like an erotic crown prince, next ruler of the world]

"Severus lips quirked up. "I am flattered."

Severus had unruly hair which he tried to fix but they did not settle. In the last Severus just let them be like that which made him look super-hot. His exquisite figure and features were something that was envied by everyone. He belonged to the category of people who will manage to look handsome even if he wears rags. 

[You will be the death of girls I swear] Noworry cursed under his breath.

"You said something?" Severus asked.

Noworry perched on Severus' shoulder as they both went outside. Severus soon reached outside Desella's room. He knocked thrice when he heard it creaking open. Desella opened it from the inside. She was in a daze but when she saw who was outside the room made her shocked to the core.
