A Fallen Knight-Lost art of Necromancy

Chapter 170: Last heir of clan

Chapter 170: Last heir of clan

Marquis saw the lifeless body of his son. Covered in scars, his bare chest was wounded, and his core was nowhere to be seen. His face has a peaceful smile with a pale pallor on his face while Severus was completely stained with Maverick dark blood. His hands were drenched with that dark and gory liquid. Unlike Maverick, he was completely serious. A dark aura surrounded him as he gave sinister vibes.

Take!

He snapped his fingers.

Gren who was half-conscious was satisfied as he witnessed Severus unleashing his potential.

"Severus" Gren called him weakly.

Severus heard him and was going to respond but he was shocked when he saw how grave the situation was. He quickly ran to him and provided support to him. "Are you okay? Don't you dare die on me, you old man. I need to know what all is happening. Every single one of you knows something that I do not know, and you all have the guts to die before telling me. I am not allowing anyone else to die on me. You understand?" With a repressed voice, Severus spoke gravely.

Gren was stunned but soon a happy smile came on his face. "You are just like your mother. Stubborn as always" Gren patted his cheeks.

"Listen kid. I feel really blessed to see you before I die. I know that you will not believe but I never actually abandoned you. Cynthia never told me anything about your existence and when I did get to know about you, it was late. I wanted you back on my side and heaven witnessed the numerous tries I did but all failed. Marquis was serious about you and the security against you was super hard for me to breach. On top of that, everyone regarded me as a dead person. To save you, I needed to turn myself up and that would have not been best for you. Since Marquis was not sure about your full potential, he didn't try with his full might to harm you but once I had made my presence, I am sure he would have been convinced about your potential. I don't even dare to imagine what horrific things he would have done to you in that case. After the fight, I was turned weak. With my age, my powers started drifting and now everything is coming to an end. My life, my Knowledge and my power. I asked Vlass to help you without revealing your true identity, but it seems he wasn't able to protect you. I certainly can't blame him since Marquis was not an easy opponent to tackle. My hands were shackled, kid. I heard news about your assassination from Vlass, but it was too late again. He himself got the news at critical times so even if I would have made my presence known, it would have been futile. I didn't know what I should do at that moment, but I was certain about one thing, that I can't let you die but ultimately you did. I trembled all over when I got the news that you died. I was worried sick of facing Cynthia in the upper realm. How could I tell her that I failed to protect my grandson? The shame of not being able to do anything for you was eating me from inside so, in the end I made the decision. Decision to finally use the taboo art. As the necromancer clan leader, I had some secrets and taboo knowledge. Although we were not allowed to practice it but we ought to know them, for of our clan, we need to know about them. Every clan leader ought to know. And so, I performed taboo art for your reincarnation. You see taboo art is a double edge sword. It affects both parties. The one performing the ritual and the one who was being performed on. I was not sure whether I would be able to pull it up or would you really reincarnate but at that time it was my only hope. I could

not stand idle. It was not easy for me to bring your corpse to a secluded area, so I disguised myself as an ally for Melanie. She was a foolish and greedy girl who became a target for my manipulation."

Gren loathed at Melanie. He was aware of Severus' feelings for her and her real nature, so it was obvious that he hated her.

"That foolish girl believed all the lies I fed her and helped Vlass to bring your corpse to the forest. I performed my taboo art and waited for the day of your revival."

Severus was shocked with the retaliation. "So, were you the one who ordered those brothers to find me?"

HAHAHA!

Gren started laughing.

"No NO. It was a pure coincidence. I met them when I was hungry and they both offered food to me. I knew there was a hidden treasure in the forest, so I asked them to dig up, but those idiots came and dug you instead."

Gren was laughing in tears now. All this was so hilarious.

Severus felt awkward.

"So, about Noworry? Did you put his scroll?" Severus asked another curious question.

Gren expression turned grave. "No. I neither have powers nor the guts to possess something as powerful as Noworry scroll. You must never underestimate him Severus. Although he is banished and sealed by Hades, he is a powerful being. He can win against demigods and his sheer power is unparalleled. It is said that when he gets angry, the sky thunders in fear and it rains when he weeps. No matter how exaggerated one thinks but there is always truth hidden amongst folklore so cherish him. You are blessed you got him on your side Severus''.

Cough Cough

Gren coughed mouthful of blood.

"Come here Severus" Gren beckoned him.

Severus closed in.

"Touch my forehead with your brat."

"But" Severus stiffened. He knew what Gren wanted to do but he cannot let him die.

Gren saw through his unwilligness so he became solemn. "Don't hesitate you fool. As the last surviving member of the clan, it is your responsibility to learn about the arts of your clan. This was a rule that no one can defy so come here and do as I say" Gren ordered Severus.

Reluctantly Severus touched his forehead with his and experienced heavy transmission of knowledge.

Unlike Maverick, this time transmission was quick. He wondered whether he had become more powerful. As he was absorbed in his thoughts, he felt coldness on his cheeks. Gren's left hand which was on his cheeks turned cold and dropped on him lifelessly.

NOOOOOO

Severus shrieked.

It was a harsh day for Severus as he lost so many people today. No matter whether they were foes or friends, the emotional toll was huge on him today, but there was someone who was not least bit affected.

"Cut it out man" Marquis was annoyed with all those dreams and emotional stuff.

"What are you crying for? People come and die, there is nothing more to it. Look, Severus, your beloved Melanie is dead, your sworn brother Maverick is dead too and now, the last member related to you by blood died too so what is the point of living. Why do you need to live a life filled with so many burdens? Come here child, let me free you from the complexities of life and let me make you experience what true freedom is'' Marquis screamed with pure madness.

Severus used his right hand and a small ball-like figure like earlier quickly came into existence. He drove Maverick and Gren's corpse inside and placed them in the ball into a corner to avoid hurting the corpse.

"Aye, aren't you a good grandson and a good friend? I am proud of you" As he said, he pulled a punch on Severus' face.

It was so fast that Severus failed to avoid it and got hit by it. It blew him up. He finally felt the disparity among them.

Uhm

He groaned in pain.

"Come-on. Is this all you got?" Marquis taunted him.

Severus who was just knocked out felt his blood boiling in his veins. He really wanted to rip Marquis' mouth now. With his remaining strength, he came back on his feet as he wiped the blood from his lips.

"You are filthy human. You have no right to lecture me. You don't know what emotions are, what humanity is, and what is meant to be a human"?

"You are right!!!"

"I don't know what humanity is and I definitely don't want to be a human. It is such a boring job to do. To live as a weakling and later die as a weakling."

Bam!

Severus was again punched by Marquis.

Marquis was getting bored now. "Enough talking. Let's quit this and surrender yourself to me so I can wrap this up".

Fighting with all those monsters and Maverick drained his power. Even after being healed by Maverick, Severus still felt powerless against Marquis. His vigor had finally come to an end. No sane human can cope up with this level of fighting as well as the emotional toll that Severus was bearing. It was a miracle itself that he did not end up being a mad man.
