Chapter 105: Flip Side of heaven~Hell (b)

Chapter 105: Flip Side of heaven~Hell (b)

These corpses were none other than past participants of Elder Zachary's inheritance trial. Although this was the first time that Whittaker has seen so many dead bodies and he was shocked at this scene, he managed to get a hold of himself and continued on his destination without a pause. 'There's no going back and the only way to get out of this place before death is to pass the trial. My mana is quickly running out and I would become one of them if I don't complete this trial, soon."

Once again, he realized how cruel and dangerous this world can be. Occasionally, his eyes would reflexively dart to the corpses, who came here as challengers just like him but now, they have become dried corpses seething with the essence of death. Also, the people who have died here were the source of the essence of death, and Whittaker understood that.

"They were living humans just like me!" His hand clenched tighter with each second passing by. 'Why did these people have to die? Why was Elder Zachary so cruel? We are all humans so why kill them?' He wondered while bearing the mana pressure that increased as he stepped on the 177th step of the heaven-reaching staircase.

"Young boy, don't be surprised. These humans are all challengers like you who have come here to become Zachary's sole inheritor but how could it be so easy to obtain the legacy of a 10-star formation master! They simply courted death by ignoring the deadly warning given at the start of this trial." Lord Dark Spirit laughed causing uneasiness to creep up Whittaker's heart.

Over the past hundred years, several people of the seven land of the awakened continent, including the central land of light have come to Zachary's place as a challenger. They all came with a proud back eager to become Zachary's inheritor and student. Although every challenger knew that the chance of winning his trial was slim; however, there were many who gave it their all to complete the inheritor trial of Elder Zachary and become his inheritor. Each one of the corpses in this heaven-reaching trial was an extraordinary character that could attend the banquet of any Emperor and marry their daughters. Heck, the emperors would beg for each one of them to become his son or daughter in law. Yet, they met their end in this path. Zachary was the only one who knew how to create formation in thin-air. 7-star was the peak of formation master but Zachary could create the 10-star formation. As a formation master, he was three steps ahead of the entire world, even Master Zen had referred to Zachry as his equal.

One trial, if they were able to complete the heaven-reaching trial at Zachary's palace then they would instantly become the sole inheritor of a true hegemon, a title given to those people who are ranked beyond S. To the extraordinary character of the Seven Lands, this was a once in a millennia opportunity to ascend beyond the peak of life.

Although in the end, they failed miserably!

"Then what about me? What makes you think that I won't die before completing this trial?" Whittaker exclaimed with clenched teeth. At the same time when he said these words, he stepped on the 189th step, right away, the system notified, [The Guardian is running out of mana at a very fast rate. At this rate, the mana shield will run out in 5 minutes]

Whittaker couldn't absorb the mana in the surroundings as it was mixed with the Death force. Absorbing mana mixed with the Death force will lead to a painful and ugly death in which a person bleed from all of his orifices whilst becoming a cripple. For an awakened, death was far better than losing all powers and becoming a mere mortal; However, death and becoming a cripple was going hand in hand in this place.

After a momentary pause, Lord Dark Spirit's answer rang beside his ears, "You young boy wouldn't be one of them, you are extraordinary and born lucky. You have more than enough to pass this trial and become Zachary's inheritor. Believe in yourself, just like I believe in you. Just like your real parent and elder brother believed in you."

Whittaker felt frustrated. Today, he realized that he even had an elder brother related to him by blood; However, he has never seen him nor had he ever seen his real parents. "If they believed in me then why... Why was I abandoned! I have never met them. All my life they were never there for me! And, I don't need others to tell me to believe in myself, I have never given up on myself!" He internally shouted at Lord Dark Spirit while stomping his way ahead.

"The reasons are too complicated to explain to you..."

"Then don't say it. I will find out on my own!"

Hearing his words, Lord Dark Spirit turned silent, realizing that he had initially mistaken the boy's word and angered him.

Whittaker's initial plan was to experience the mana pressure, adapt to it, and then move onwards; however, the situation didn't allow for this plan to work. He needed to reach the end as soon as he could possible, hence he has been charging through the Death Force filled area and climbing to his end goal.

Currently, he has reached the 233rd step and only 1 minute was left.

"One minute is more than enough for my plan to work!" Whittaker said with a thoughtful grin. From the moment the system explained to him about the death force, he has been planning to do something outrageous

He wanted to perform a suicidal act, once again. Now, the time has come to execute it.

In a single moment, Whittaker activated the runic effect of Azure-sky boots and Azure-Sky earrings.

With a single step, he crossed five stairs, his speed increased by two times and he was slightly hovering over the ground.

Occasionally, tiptoeing instantly at the end of the flight to make an immediate jump pushing himself forcefully through the death force filled area. Just like the system said, the higher he went the more obstruction of death force he faced. Although there seemed to be an invisible and formless destructive energy trying to kill him to stop him from reaching his goal, Whittaker showed no hesitation and continued to climb upwards as fast as he could, directly breaking past the Death force. Along the way, the expenditure of mana was too much. His mana reached zero and the mana-shield vanished, leaving his body unprotected.

He was only six steps away from the 333rd step; however, on the 327th step, Whittaker could sense an overwhelming destructive force heading towards his way, ready to envelop him whole but there was not a hint of fear in his calculative eyes. With a single thought, the bandages of his azure-sky wrapping extended long enough to cover his entire body in bandages, in the very moment, his feet heavily pushed against the ground to hurl his body directly towards the 333rd goal!

"Boom!"

The Death Force crashed on the defensive layer of bandages; however, Whittaker successfully broke through it. In his vision, the 333rd stair appeared. Suddenly, as he was passing over the 332nd step, he crashed face-first on a bluish mana wall formation.

A mana wall formation was separating the 332nd step from the 333rd step!
