Chapter 110: Defy

Chapter 110: Defy

One of Elder Zachary's final wishes were completed as he witnessed the bloodline awakening of the descendent of the Divine Battle King. Master Zen, on the other hand, was as calm as water; However, a complicated swirl of emotions could be seen in his eyes. Nina was the happiest and she had already started preparing the best banquet Whittaker would ever have. Also, she dressed her mechanical body in luxurious clothing made by the most famous female dress designer from the Enchantress Song state, Miss Sophia.

Lord Dark Spirit smiled while thinking that this boy has taken after his father although he is too naive, too innocent, too pure and that must change otherwise, he won't survive.

"Good boy, now that you have awakened your bloodline, it's time I explain somethings to you. Bloodline bestows different types of supernatural ability/s on a person. A person with a higher quality bloodline will be bestowed with a high-ranked bloodline ability. Your Devansha bloodline is of higher quality, hence you have awakened high-ranked bloodline ability. Do you understand?" Lord Dark Spirit explained to the clueless boy.

Each Bloodline ability was distinct and unique. Someone might possess tremendous amounts of strength in their body, enough to shake a mountain with a stomp while others could call upon a rain of fire.

Waves of mana pressure crashed down on Whittaker but the Elemental Avatar blocked all of it, not even a single hair on his head shifted its place. That was just how powerful an A-ranked Bloodline ability is. Standing right before the mana wall, Whittaker's eyes blinked in agreement.

After a momentary pause, Lord Dark spirit continued, "Blood Divine state Imperial physician had said, "Depending on the rank of their class weapon, the quality of a person's bloodline can be determined if he has any." You have awakened an A-ranked high-quality Devansha bloodline because of your A-ranked Frost spellbook. The Frost spellbook didn't only decree your end potential as a mage but also the quality of your bloodline. That isn't the only benefit you have received as high-quality bloodlines can be fused with certain class weapons to increase their rank."

"Does that mean?" Whittaker blurted internally. According to Lord Dark Spirit's words, he could increase his A-ranked Frost Spellbook to S-ranked Ice spellbook by using his blue blood.

"Yes, it's as you are thinking. Your Devansha bloodline and Frost Spellbook are extremely suitable for each other. You could use your Devansha bloodline to increase the rank of your Frost spellbook; However, you barely have blue blood in your body so I advise you against it otherwise, you can say goodbye to your newfound bloodline powers.

"Okay!" Whittaker was already happy with what he has. Furthermore, he couldn't upgrade his Frost spellbook unless if he wants to lose his Devansha bloodline. And, Whittaker certainly didn't.

Anyways, 37 seconds were left before the mana wall formation separating him from conquering Elder Zachary's inheritance trial disappears. His Elemental Avatar could easily remain apparent for the next 37 seconds. He could easily pass this trial; However, Whittaker wanted to release the mixture of emotions in his heart.

A dog barks when it is bullied. Even a rabbit bite back when it is cornered. Whittaker thought, 'So, how can I not release my wrath after being nearly crushed to death. Moreover, I want to check out what Defy does!'

The target of his wrath was naturally the creator of this sure-death trial but first, he needs to reach him. Whittaker didn't want to waste 35 more seconds to go out of this place. He wanted to immediately get out and smack some senses into Elder Zachary but the mana wall was blocking his way. That's why he decided to obliterate the mana wall with overwhelming power.

He had already tried his best to remain calm at every dangerous trial as they could be completed with accurate judgment and outstanding skills; However, he was certain that this trial couldn't be completed by any means by an F-ranked awakened.

Elder Zachary felt a shiver rising his spine when he saw the icy stares of the snowy-haired boy and he gulped his saliva. "Nina, is he thinking of beating me up?" He muttered, right after, crackled a laugh. Even he knows that he deserved a beating as the last trial couldn't be completed by anyone. Reaching the last trial in itself was winning his inheritance. Edward Agni has reached it by using a lot of A-ranked treasure; However, his personality was too obnoxious for Elder Zachary to have any interest in taking him as a student, hence he didn't save him.

To say it in simple words, Edward Agni has failed the personality test while Whittaker has passed it.

'Anyways, everyone had the right to refuse the last trial, yet they never wanted to refuse. They died because of their choice. So I wasn't in the wrong.' Elder Zachary thought to reduce his guilt.

"Let's begin!" Whittaker's hands clenched tightly and he closed his eyes. With a beaming smile on his face which hinted a little insanity, he followed the newfound information in his mind and chanted,

"Devansha Bloodline Ability... Defy!!!"

He didn't know how but his mind, soul, and spine resonated with his words. The only thing he wanted to do now was defy everything. He wanted to reach the 333rd step yet the mana wall was blocking his way.

Swoosh... the mana in the surrounding whisked into his body with a very high intensity as Whittaker's body seemed to become a dark hole capable of devouring anything. Even the cracked marbled floor made out of condensed mana evaporated into a gaseous mana form and rushed into Whittaker's body. All the Mana from his environment rushed into his body.

All of the mana was poured into his spine shining with a bluish luster. Whittaker felt a massive surge in his power.

He was only an F-ranked mage yet the total amount of mana in his body has surpassed 1000 and it was only increasing with the passage of each second. Three seconds later the units of mana in his body increased by another thousand. Five seconds later, he was almost at the D-rank; However, he felt a piercing pain at the very moment when his mana unit exceeded 5000 points. Whittaker's face contorted as he internally asked, "What's this pain?"

"Young boy, only your spine has metamorphosed into a Devansha bone. You only have one Devansha bone whereas the rest of your body is still pretty much mortal. So you better not abuse this ability to its limit otherwise, your body will break. For now, the piercing pain will go away when you release your attack." Lord Dark Spirit explained.

Whittaker understood that this bloodline ability was taxing on his body and he shouldn't continue with his initial plan. He wanted to destroy the entire mana wall formation by releasing a single attack with more than twenty thousand mana units; However, he couldn't do so anymore as his body will break.

Whittaker stopped absorbing the mana before the Bloodline Ability-Defy could reach its peak. At that moment, his F-ranked power level has been promoted to the peak of the D-rank. A total of 6999 mana unit was stored in his Devansha bone!
