And the person orchestrated that accident was the same person behind Gu Yaobai. He was no ordinary person. In fact, he was Old Mr. Gus well-respected teacher.

That was the reason Gu Shao did not stop Old Mr. Gu and Gu Feng from protecting Gu Yaobai back in the days.

Luckily, Gu Shao noticed that something was off and notified him. Otherwise, with the Gus ability back then, it would surely have stirred up a lot of commotions.

Granted, if it wasnt for that accident back then, there would not be the cutie Xixi. Nevertheless, that did not make what Gu Yaobai had done okay. He would get what he deserved at the end.

Unfortunately, the one behind Gu Yaobai had been in high places for a long time and was entwined in too many complicated networks. Even today, when he had seemingly retired from his previous role, he was still as powerful as he was before.

It wasnt easy for him to take actions against the Gu family but, on the other hand, the Gu family, too, was not yet strong enough to take care of him.

When the three of them were done with their discussion and returned to the living room from the study, they saw that Gu Xi was already curled up and asleep on the couch. On top her was the blanket that Wang Pei, Gu Fengs wife, had placed there.

You three needed to be mindful of the time even when you have things to talk about, said Wang Pei. She then looked over at Gu Xi, smiled, and turned to talk to Gu Shao, I guess she was tired from all the excitement today. She refused to go sleep in her room and insisted on waiting for you here.

Gu Shao didnt show any signs on him when he heard Wang Peis words but, anyone who looked careful enough would see that he seemed to be smiling.

Gu Shao walked over and squatted down by the couch.

Get up. Its time to go home, said Gu Shao to Gu Xi. There was a hint of tenderness in his voice that he would never use at anyone else.

Unfortunately, Gu Xi did not catch any of that in her sleep. As though she wasnt comfortable enough, she rubbed her face against the blanket and kept on sleeping in a more comfortable position.

Gu Shao called her a few times but he failed to wake her up. That gave him a headache.

Looking at her helplessly for a little while and, not knowing how to pick her up, Gu Shao was about to pick her up from her collar.

Old Mr. Gu who saw that jumped up and down instantly.

You cant just pick up a person like that! said Old Mr. Gu with a look of heartache. Besides, even if he could, what if he woke her up?

Who carries a child that way? said Old Mr. Gu with his face long.

Gu Shao gave him a casual glance and said, Isnt that how you used to carry us?

Back when he was in the troops, Old Mr. Gu was very rough with the kids.

Hearing Gu Shaos words, Old Mr. Gu was not happy. He gave Gu Shao a glare and said, Are you comparing yourself to Xixi?
