Chapter 83: Today Is a Good Day to Die
Chapter 83: Today Is a Good Day to Die
"Easy admiral!" The old man laughed and patted Antonius' back.
"Today is a good day to die."
"Aye indeed" Antonius replied. "Today IS a good day to die."
"But the ones who are dying today. Is not the two of us."
Then, Antonius yelled to Abdullah on the walls. "Hey brother! Listen to me! Do not shoot at those calvaries!"
"But! Antonius! You" Anxious about Antonius' ridiculous order, Abdullah immediately retorted. "Are you out of your mind? The"
"But me no buts! Abdullah! No more shooting of arrows until I say so!"
""
The Ottoman cavalry leader Talmi, at a distance away, laughed also and yelled a series of orders in the Ottoman language, the Ottoman infantries too stopped moving and backed off creating a vacant space between Talmi and the two Romans.
"I like your bravery! Roman!" Talmi remarked as he slowly rides towards Antonius. "What is your name? It is a tradition in my place to know the names of enemies who showed their bravery to remember them."
"To commemorate and worship them?"
"No." Talmi licked his lips in excitement. "To write the name on top of my armour to prove to others that my bravery has surpassed yours, making me a warrior superior to you!"
"Oh really?"
"Don't give me that look!" Talmi pointed his spear at Antonius. "Don't worry! You have earnt my respect! I shall kill you and cut off your head with my own hands! Then decorated your skull into an artifact, minting with gold, your skull shall become one of my finest collections!"
Antonius suddenly felt this man is a clown anxious to show off himself against someone who has defeated him before. He replied no word, but instead paced himself forward, dropping his spear and his shield, taking his helmet off revealing the face filled with sweat and blood, waved to the Ottomans showing there is nothing in his hands.
For one moment Talmi almost disappointedly thought that Antonius is going to surrender, until Antonius extended and spread all of his fingers of both hands and showed Talmi his hand palm, which is an obscene Greek hand gesture called the Mountza, basically the medieval Greek version of a middle finger. Then Antonius shouted out laughing.
"Drop it, you little piece of worm! You do not deserve to kill me!"
The easily triggered Talmi immediately began flushing with rage, beams of steam can even be seen blowing out of his ears and nose. He has grown completely mad in anger, slashed his whip against the butt of his horse and charged at Antonius.
Antonius smirked and lowered his body.
There is a reason behind him talking bullshit with his enemy and walking in front decreasing the distance between him and the Ottomans. He remembers what the old mercenary has said just now. The main advantage of a cavalry on horse is its speed, speed has to be gained by acceleration, and acceleration comes from distance.
Thus he gave Talmi only a small distance to start charging and accelerate, and what he did next dropped the jaws of everyone watching.
Antonius faced an Ottoman cavalry with nothing in his hands, no weapons, no shields, nothing, only bare hands.
Talmi pierced his spear right towards Antonius' heart position, which is easily dodged by the later, gripped hold of the spear, and dragged Talmi off the back of his horse! Then he made use of Talmi's spear and inserted the spear head right into the throat of Talmi, ending his life instantly, perishing his dream of having his head.
This all happened within five seconds.
"Why do you even try, you little piece of crap. Now you have the worst way of dying; by your own weapon While your god accept you?" Antonius murmured and stood up.
The vice captain of Talmi started charging too wishing to save his captain although it is already too late. Antonius used the same technique, dodged to one side, gripped the spear with his bare hands, then pulled the back of the spear downwards making use of the leverage theory in physics, sending the vice captain flinging into the air and landing hard on a rock with his back, breaking his spinal cord and neck. Another dead by Antonius' bare hands.
The third came, but this time he did not even dare to pierce Antonius with his spear, he used a knife instead, hoping his trusted blade shall run through the neck of the monster, but Antonius did not give him a chance of doing this. Antonius grabbed hold of the spear left by the vice captain of the calvaries, thrown it towards the Ottoman cavalry with his full force.
What happens when an entity travelling at high speed came into contact head to head with another entity also at high speed?
The spearhead went right through the skull of the horse penetrating right through its head through its mouth, then with last bit of energy it continued piercing through the rider's chest through his lungs. The horse collapsed right before the boots of Antonius bringing the rider with it. The rider, still alive, stared at Antonius with an eyes of trauma and disturbance, with his mouth open trying to say something but only blood with lung bubbles came out of it.
After killing three with only his bare hands, Antonius went shouting out like a tiger roaring in a dense forest.
"Who want to be next!"
"Who dares to be next!"
Abdullah watched the entire appalling process above the walls, gaping with his mouth wide open mumbling to himself and others in a tone filled with disbelief and shock.
"Bu nasl mmkn olabilir! How is this possible!"
"Bu nasl mmkn olabilir! How is this possible!"
A few hundred meters away, Mehmed the Sultan is also gaping after watching the splendid performance of Antonius.
"Is he still human? Can a man really do this? How is this possible? Is he a monster?"
"Who is this man?"
"It is the admiral of the Roman fleet my Sultan! Named Antonius!" answered Selim Pasha, who just barely escaped with the help of some anonymous personnel inside Constantinople.
"Antonius"
