Volume 2 Chapter 40: Apple Pie

"What is this?" What they saw was a giant tower. Each one was filled with food! 

"What is the food on top?"

"There are three tiers?" 

"If you prefer savory snacks, please choose something from the bottom. If you prefer something sweet, please choose something on the other two." This was what Keith wanted to construct. Sophia and Camelia saw it and thought it was interesting.

On the bottom were bite-sized sandwiches, while the other two layers were cookies and some fruits.

The fruits were cut into a beautiful design. Thalia and the other noble women were in awe. 

"I see there are two different types on the bottom. What are they called?" Thalia questioned.

"It's called a sandwich. It's meat and other ingredients in between two pieces of bread. The ones we have are a ham, tomato, and lettuce sandwich. The other is a cucumber sandwich."

Ham, tomato, and lettuce sandwich? Cucumber sandwich? Thalia had never heard these things before. 

She knew the ingredients. But as a sandwich?

"Wait, that's bread?" Thalia stared at the bread.

"Mmhmm."

Bread? When did bread become like this? It was softer and much more airy than usual! But Thalia didn't think about it as she took a bite of the ham sandwich. And when she did,

"How could bread be this good?!" Thalia couldn't believe it. She looked down and realized she finished it!

"It's so airy! It matches well with the milk tea!" The other women tasted the food. And they were in awe! 

"Mother! You should try the ones on top!" Carolyn shouted.

"Hmm?" Thalia looked at Carolyn's brightened face. She was eating something from the second layer. Thalia looked at it. It looked simple compared to the other food. 

She took one and munched on it. I see. She understood why her daughter was so happy about the cookies. 

It was crunchy and sweet, like milk tea. Thalia and the other women were surprised. More so when tasting the sandwich.

That was because this was something they had never tasted.  

Sophia and Camelia had triumphant expressions as they stared at the sight. You guys haven't seen all of it yet! The eating went on for a few minutes before the noblewomen asked,

"Grand Duchess, please tell us the recipes for all this food!"

"Are you going to have another party like this again?"

The noblewomen were eager. They cleaned off everything on the 3-tier stand! Camelia and Sophia expected something like this. Of course, they would be excited about something they had never tasted. 

What was more, it was delicious as well! 

Thalia added, "I'm curious. Who cooked all these dishes?" That person had to be a genius for doing all of this.

"We'll tell you who made these dishes in a bit. There's one more dish that has to be brought out. And it's a dish we haven't even tried either." Camelia smiled.

Her words had caused all the noblewomen to be shocked! A dish the Grand Duchess and Marchioness hadn't tried? They were curious about it now!

"And it seemed that it's done." Someone rolled a cart into the garden. Sophia smiled, 

"What have you brought for us?"

"The dish here is called an apple pie, Madam. It's a baked version of the fruit you've eaten a moment ago." The person smiled as he took off the lid. The noble women could smell the strong scent of apples coming from it. 

The noblewomen almost forgot their image. They quickly put a napkin in front of their mouth, trying their best to hide their drool. 

They were in front of the Queen! 

Heck! The Queen was drooling as well! The scent of the apple was to die for!

What a smell!

"Please slice it." Camelia gestured. As the maids sliced the pie into pieces, the smell coming from the pie became even stronger than before! 

Everyone could see the golden liquid leaking. 

One by one, the maids placed a slice in front of everyone. They all gulped when they saw it. 

"Let's eat!" Camelia clapped her hands together. When she did, everyone stabbed their forks into it! It was soft on the inside. But there was a crisp texture from the crust. 

"What would it taste like?" The smell was to die for. And the texture was extraordinary! And when they placed it into their mouth, they said nothing. 

"So good!" An explosion of juices flowed inside their mouths! And it didn't stop there. 

The more they chewed on the apple pie, the more the juices flowed. 

It had a rich and sweet flavor! They were being drowned by the taste of apples!

"Marchioness! Please tell us the recipe!"

"I don't think I can live without eating this!"

"How could something be this delicious?!"

The noblewomen had to get the recipe for this! But Thalia spoke, "Enough, all of you! There's no need to ask the Marchioness this question." 

Thalia turned, "You're the one who cooked all of this, am I right?" The person she talked to was the one who pushed the cart in.
