Volume 2 Chapter 85: I have An Idea

"Hmm?" Keith tilted his head.

"Keith, you shouldn't have done that," Orin grabbed his head.

Mendel explained, "Young Master, by saying you would put your honor on the line, it's a vow. If you don't uphold it, you will be shamed for a lifetime," A nobleman's honor meant everything.

Not upholding it meant he would be shamed and humiliated.

"Oh, that. I know about it," Keith learned it long ago from Sophia and William.

"Then why did you say it?!" Michael retorted. It was essentially risking his life!

"Because I know I can accomplish it," Keith answered with the calmest expression. The three stared at Keith. His eyes were still and unwavering.

There was no uncertainty in them.

"Can you really do it?" Michael wasn't sure now. It was an uncertain factor. He did things out of everyone's expectations. But this might be over his head.

"I never make promises I can't keep," Keith declared.

"..." The three had no words to say.

"Now then, let's go home and get yelled at," Keith smiled as he walked home. He already understood what was going to happen.

However, what he didn't know was his words spread throughout town! Keith had vowed his honor as a nobleman to fix the slums!

It spread like a storm!

...

"Keith, why did you do that?' William stared at his son as he questioned. This time, he had a frustrated look.

"I did it because I have to," Keith answered.

"Hmm?"

"I saw people in our town suffering. And I want to change it," When Keith saw how the adults and children were suffering, he wasn't going to stand still.

"I love your intentions. But do you understand how difficult this is?" William understood his child's intentions. But saying it and accomplishing it were two different things!

Fixing the slums? Of course, William wanted to do that. But he had been trying to do this all these years! Yet, he couldn't eradicate it!

"I can do it," Keith stated with confidence.

William frowned, "Do you understand the repercussions if you can't?"

"I understand. But I don't care about it. And father, you told me before, as nobles, it's our duty to improve the land to the best of our abilities. The people in the slums are our people. We need to help them out," Keith remembered those words William told him before.

It resonated with him.

"..." William took a deep sigh, "Alright. I will do whatever I can to help you. But how are you going to accomplish this?"

"I have an idea," Keith answered.

"...Alright. If you're serious, I will hand you 10 mithril coins. That's the amount you can use per month," William stated. That was how serious he was about this situation.

"That's more than enough! Thank you, Father!" Keith smiled.

"Good luck," William smiled.

...

Keith entered the library to get to work on his new idea. While he was doing this, May had a worried look, "Is the young master going to be alright?!"

May was worried when she heard all the rumors floating around. Some said that Keith was crazy for saying this. Others said they believed he could do it.

Either way, they all thought Keith was a little dangerous for saying it. The slum was a difficult place. It was there for years.

It was something that couldn't be changed like that!

"Keith can do it!" Fira was riding on May's shoulders and stated.

"Keith was so cool as he said this to all those people!" Fira found him awesome.

May had a wry expression. She couldn't say anything about it as the little spirit wouldn't understand. It didn't take long for Keith to open the door.

"May, can you go and call Michael. I need him for something,"

"Understood!" May nodded. It seemed that Keith had an idea of what to do.
