Volume 3 Chapter 62: Sorry About Barging Here Again

"I knew it! There is a basement!" Keith was sure there had to be a basement in this mansion.

Cadmus nodded, "Of course we have one. Can't you see the trunk? It's growing in the basement." Cadmus showed him where the stairs were.

"How far down is it?" Keith realized the basement was pretty far down.

"We're almost there." And when the four got to the basement,

"What in the world?!" The roots of the tree were there. But that was not what was surprising. The vines were enclosed into one point. And that was a coffin!

"Why is there a person there?!" Keith blinked a few times. He was trying his best to think it was just an imagination.

"Hmm?" Fira tilted her head as her expression brightened up!

Keith looked at Fira, "What's the matter, Fira?"

"It's a spirit!" Fira stated.

"Eh?" It's a spirit? Keith looked at the coffin. That person didn't look like a spirit. She looked more like a human. Her ears were slightly pointed like an elf. The color of her hair was similar to a green and blond.

Etheral. That was the only way to describe her.

"What's going on?" Keith questioned Cadmus and the two. From how the three were not surprised, they knew this person.

"Well, this person is our friend," Cadmus scratched his head.

"A friend?" Keith tilted his head.

"Well, some things happened, and because of her actions, she is now stuck like this," Sohma explained.

"Eh?

"It seemed the coffin is cracked again," Cadmus sighed as he waved his hand. His hand glowed, and the coffin the same. The cracks around the coffin slowly disappeared.

"I'm guessing the reason why the vines kept attacking us was because of her power?"

"With this, her power won't run amok," Cadmus wiped his face. He turned to Keith,

"Her power would leak out from time to time. The reason those vines attacked you was because of that. But you don't need to worry about it now."

"...I see,"

"Is she the reason why there's this giant tree as well?" Keith questioned.

"..."

That's a big yes!

"Come on, Keith! Don't you think it would be nice as a decoration?!" Cadmus questioned as he grabbed his shoulders.

"It does make a good decoration." Now that Keith thought about it, he could use it in his design.

"Phew,"

"But that doesn't change the fact you handed me an island that could kill me," Keith still held that against him.

"You don't have to worry about it anymore! She's really harmless!" Cadmus reasoned,

"And she won't cause trouble now that I sealed the coffin."

"I think I need some time to think about it." Keith shook his head. After what happened, there was no way he couldn't think.

It was too much to process.

...

At night, Keith was lost in thought inside his tent. Remembering what Cadmus said was nerve-wracking. He looked at Fira,

"Fira, is the spirit like you?"

"Mmhmm! That person is a forest spirit like me!" Fira proudly stated. Keith tilted his head. If it's a forest spirit, wouldn't she prefer sunlight and flowers to a drab basement? Keith wondered.

Fira and the other forest spirits were the same. They liked being around plants and vegetables.

Keith got up, "I'm going to head back in there." There was something he had to do.

...

What did I do? Diana was lost in thought. What Cadmus said was correct. Diana wasn't dead. But she wasn't in a coma. Her mind was still sound. She could hear everything going around.

I used up too much of my power. Diana had used a lot of her power to help out the academy. But because of this, she was now in this state.

I'm grateful Cadmus placed me in this coffin. But I'm so bored! Her body would have deteriorated if Cadmus hadn't put her in the coffin. But there was nothing to do here!

And this wasn't a fix.

I should apologize to the boy. Diana heard their entire conversation. She felt guilty about what happened to him.

And he seems really interesting. Diana thought. He was contracted to a fellow forest spirit. She was curious as to what type of person he was.

But as she was lost in thought,

"Sorry about barging here again,"
