Chapter 4: Bait! baits?
Chapter 4: Bait! baits?
The domain expanded enveloping everyone, a dark gray power surrounded everyone present in its reach.
"Ah!"
"A domain?"
"What is this domain?!"
Panic spread among the Sword Unity Sect members caught within Wuji's spatial grasp, and their movements slowed.
"Domain? hmph!" Seeing the domain, Grand Elder snorted in disdain, "Domains are just ticks used by Thrones to bully lower-ranked cultivators".
Swords began gathering around him.
Although he appeared disdainful, he was secretly alerted. Lin Mo was his political rival and he know clearly how strong he is. So he didn't dare to underestimate the kid in front of him.
"Ha! Take this kid!" With a shout, The Grand Elder willed for the swords to strike him and break the domain.
The sword headed straight to Wuji
Wuji remained composed, as he watched the sword heading toward him. The casual attack of a Rank three Overlord is enough to destroy a city, let alone multiple attacks unleashed at full strength.
As the blades just crossed the ten-meter mark distance from the Grand Elder, they abruptly vanished from sight, only to reappear behind him in an instant.
"Wha..." Caught off guard, before he could understand what happened, the swords had already reached his back.
Boom!
The impact reverberated through the domain with explosive force, sending shockwaves rippling through the air. The Grand Elder staggered forward, a pained grimace crossing his face as he coughed up a mouthful of blood. Never had he imagined that he would be injured by his own attack.
Spatial power is exceedingly rare in the history of the Azure Cloud Continent, making it incredibly difficult to defend against. Otherwise, the grand elder wouldn't have attacked so recklessly.
"Grand Elder!"
"Quickly help the grand elder!"
The elders and deacons shouted in alarm. However, as they tried to move, they found themselves bound by invisible shackles, firmly preventing any action.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"I can't move!"
"What is going on?"
"It's this strange domain!"
All the sect members were gripped with horror as they struggled fruitlessly against the invisible shackles.
Even the weakest among them was at the Earth Profound level, and some of the elders were Thrones. But now they were bound by invisible restraints without the ability to move, their struggle seemed hilarious, and their cries of despair echoed pathetically in the air.
Wuji glanced at them without any change of expression, he still remembered many of these elders who chased him in the past.
"What did you do?!" The grand elder regained his footing, clutching his chest as blood stained his beard red.
"You won't get it," Wuji answered with a plain expression.
"Now let the fun begin!" he declared, waving his hands as a sea of fire engulfed the domain, consuming everyone inside.
"Ahh!!"
"I'm burning!"
"It's so hot, help!"
Screams filled the air.
"St... stop! What do you want? We can negotiate! Ahhhhhh!" The Grand Elder tried to appease Wuji but was met with intense flames that engulfed him.
"I'm already getting what I want, thanks," Wuji replied calmly, hands clasped behind his back as he watched the spectacle unfold.
The fire blazed intensely but it wasn't destructive, Wuji controlled it to burn only their skin and parts of their flesh, inflicting the maximum possible pain without causing destruction.
He of course didn't want them to die an easy death.
"Ahhh! Please stop! I can give you whatever you want!" Lin Mo, who had been confident earlier, now writhed on the ground. He and the Grand Elder were the only ones strong enough to slightly resist the spatial shackles.
"What do I want? I want your life! When you killed my father, you sealed your own fate!" His eyes turned bloodshot red, teeth gritted in rage as his killing intent surged upon hearing Lin Mo's words.
Clenching his fists, he fought to calm himself.
He wouldn't make the mistake of impulsively ending him so easily.
Boom!
Accompanied by a loud boom, suddenly a three-meter-tall qi sword broke through the void, heading straight toward Wuji.
The loud explosion alerted everyone, but by the time they reacted, the sword was within arm's reach of Wuji. The attacker had chosen the moment when Wuji was distracted to deliver
the blow.
Boom!
The sword struck Wuji with a thunderous impact, triggering an enormous explosion that shattered everything around him. Debris and dust engulfed the area where Wuji stood, obscuring him from view in the aftermath.
An elderly man appeared, seemingly in his seventies, with a bald head and a long beard eaching down to his chest. He wore a simple white robe with a sword hanging from his waist.
"Youngster, I admit you are strong, but you are still too naive, hehe," the elderly man proclaimed, his laughter echoing eerily.
"Old sect master!"
"Venerable old sect master!"
"We are saved hahaha!"
The old man was none other than the previous sect master and the father of Lin Mo, Lin Ting. He had arrived earlier than the Grand Elder and the others, he waited patiently for the perfect moment to reveal himself and strike.
When he was in charge of the sect, he had already attained the rank of Rank 5 Overlord. Now, after years of seclusion, rumors say he had ascended to Rank 7 Overlord.
The appearance of the old man restored hope among the desperate sect members. Few of the elders who could resist the pain managed to shout a few words.
"Really?" a low voice came from another direction.
"What?!"
"How could this be?!"
"Impossible!"
Lin Ting and the others followed the voice, only to see Wuji standing there unscathed. "You're finally willing to show yourself, old fart?" Wuji sneered, his performance earlier was just an act to bait the old to act. Although he hated these people to the bone, it hadn't consumed him to the point of losing his sanity.
Otherwise, wouldn't have waited a full five years to take his revenge, he could have used the Sky Poison a long time ago and Yun Che everyone involved.
"Lin Ting, I must say you are truly ruthless, to think that you would attack your son with such
a vicious blow," Wuji said admiration written on his face, "You are truly a role model for us
juniors."
"What do you mean?! Where is Lin Mo?!" Lin Ting stared at the settling dust, a sense of unease growing after hearing Wuji's words.
Without waiting for an answer, Lin Ting directly shot to the place where Wuji previously was. However, due to the spatial shackles, he could only muster less than 5% of his original speed.
Even then he ignored everything and rushed there.
"Mo'er!!" Lin Ting exclaimed as he reached the spot. There he found his son lying on the
ground, barely alive. His upper body was drenched in blood, a large hole gaping in his stomach where his internal organs were visible in a gruesome, messy mush.
He was already severely injured by the Wuji's sneak attack and after getting hit by his father's
sneak attack his life was hanging by a thread.
"Did you like my gift, old fart?" Wuji asked cheerfully. "How does it feel to kill your own
son?"
"You... you demon!!" Lin Ting's hands trembled as he held his son, his eyes filled with rage and fear as he stared at Wuji.
The domain restricted his senses, he barely managed to deliver the sneak attack earlier. To think that all this was a trap set by this demon.
"Hey, hey, don't be in such a hurry. I'm not going to let your son die," Wuji said, shaking his
index finger at Lin Ting.
"After all, how can I allow him to die so easily?" His expression turned sinister.
"What... what do you mean?" Lin Ting asked.
"You'll know soon, but first..." Wuji disappeared mid-sentence, reappearing behind Lin Ting
in an instant, his sword aimed at Lin Ting's back.
Lin Ting wanted to retreat, but holding his son slowed him down.
The sword attack was sinister, it left him with only one choice, dodge and let his son die, or
take the hit and risk both their lives. In the end, Lin Ting with difficulty adjusted his position
to shield his son from harm.
Swish!
A purple sword penetrated his chest, barely grazing his son.
"Aghh!" Lin Ting groaned, coughing up blood.
As the sword entered his body, lightning surged through it, frying his internal organs.
Wuji's moves were all extremely tricky and sinister, his style was always to maximize the
effect of his attack.
When he first attacked Lin Mo, he didn't use his full strength. Instead, he struck with just
enough force to keep him alive but severely weakened, all to maximize his value as a pawn against his father.
From the very beginning, Wuji had planned this meticulously. Lin Ting was a Rank 7 Overlord, it was troublesome to deal with him, he first baited all the high-ranking members of the sect. He then used them as bait to lure Lin Ting, and finally, he exploited his love for his son to deal
with him.
"Now that everyone is here, let the fun begin!" Wuji exclaimed, pulling his sword from Lin Ting and clapping his hands happily.
