Chapter 77 : Sandstinger Scorpion
Rising from the desert dunes, a colossal scorpion emerged with a menacing presence.
The Sandstinger Scorpion was a behemoth, its massive, dark exoskeleton glistening under the harsh desert sun.
Its formidable, segmented tail swayed ominously behind it, ending in a stinger like a jagged spearhead.
Each of its eight jointed legs was equipped with sharp, dagger-like claws, perfect for grasping and immobilizing prey. Its eyes, gleaming like molten gold, were scanning its surroundings with unwavering vigilance.
Looking at the human and beast in the distance, its mandibles twitched, revealing rows of serrated teeth that could effortlessly crush bones.
Slowly, it approached its prey without making a sound. When it reached a couple of feet from them, it lowered its massive body, sinking into the dune.
The dunes provided perfect cover for the Sandstinger Scorpion, making it easier for it to approach its prey undetected.
Su Yen and Blue Wing were resting peacefully under the scorching sun, not caring about the heat. "We should start going after this," Su Yen said, not looking at the beast.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Blue Wing didn't raise its head from its feast, eating with relish. Just then, the dunes beside its path gave way quickly, and a massive Sandstinger Scorpion attacked with its deadly tail.
The sneak attack happened too suddenly for Blue Wing to react. However, as a grade 2 beast, it recovered quickly and took to the air.
Bang!
The Sandstinger's tail missed Blue Wing by a hair, but as a desert predator, it screeched and pounced on Su Yen with its dagger-like claws.
Su Yen looked at the two dagger-like claws dashing toward his chest at a whistling speed. 'What a deadly attack!' He exclaimed in his heart.
This attack would kill anyone below the Foundation Building realm, and even a Foundation Building realm expert would be seriously injured if hit by the tail.
Even though Su Yen was shocked by the deadly attack, he responded with a timely punch.
Bang!
Screech!
The Sandstinger Scorpion was sent flying, and its strong carapace had a series of web-like cracks. In the air, Blue Wing was furious at the scorpion's sneak attack and dove toward it, swinging its wings.
Whoosh!
A strong wind blade appeared in the sky, traveling toward the Sandstinger Scorpion. Realizing it was in a deadly position, the Sandstinger Scorpion tried to enter the dune and escape.
Unfortunately, it was too late.
Bang!
The wind blade struck its body, and the cracked carapace gave way. The Sandstinger Scorpion let out a miserable screech before it split into two.
Looking at the dead scorpion, Blue Wing landed beside it and looked at it with disdain, cutting its body into pieces with more wind blade.
Just as Blue Wing was venting its anger, the dunes shifted and powerful screeches echoed. At first, it was a single screech, then more screeches echoed throughout the desert.
Thousands of Sandstinger Scorpions emerged from the dunes, glaring at Su Yen and Blue Wing with hatred for killing one of their kin.
Screech!
Immediately, the thousands of Sandstinger Scorpions rushed toward Su Yen at breathtaking speed, leaving a trail of dust in the air.
"I think we should go?" Blue Wing said to Su Yen in panic.
Su Yen nodded with a slight shock on his face. 'Thousands of grade 2 scorpions!'
If these scorpions were to enter the barren land, there would be destruction. Now, he realized that even in the barren land, humans were as weak as nothing. They couldn't even be compared to ants in the presence of these beasts.
Sighed. 'Forest Beasts in the eastern land, sea races in the southern land, desert beasts in the northern land, what about the western land?'
Thinking of this made his head hurt. He realized they were surrounded by powerful beasts that could destroy them in the blink of an eye if they decided.
Climbing onto the back of Blue Wing, he soared into the air, escaping at its top speed.
Screech!
The thousands of Sandstinger Scorpions roared in fury when they realized their enemy had escaped. They looked at the escaping eagle for a moment before they sunk into the dunes.
On Blue Wing's back, Su Yen realized the sand demon didn't have the intention of giving him the resources at all. If he didn't have a flying mount, how would he traverse through the deadly desert?
Sighed. 'I need to push myself to get stronger quickly,' he thought with a flash of determination appearing on his face.
Traveling for another hour on the endless desert, Blue Wing couldn't help but question. "Master, where are we going? There is no end to this irritating desert."
As he prepared to respond, he raised his head and saw hundreds of massive crows flying toward him at breathtaking speed.
'Another grade 2 beast!' He exclaimed in his heart.
"No, not this again, I hate crows," Blue Wing complained.
"Stop whining and prepare to attack," Su Yen commanded sternly. He withdrew his sword and took a battle stance. Around Blue Wing, the air trembled, forming deadly sharp wind blades.
When the crows reached a hundred feet from them, Su Yen attacked immediately. A terrifying sword light flashed through the air, cutting the air into two. All the crows in its path were cut into two.
Blood splashed in the sky, and all their inner organs scattered everywhere.
Meanwhile, Blue Wing froze when it felt the deadly sword light on its back. Previously, it thought Su Yen was only slightly stronger than it, but now, it realized how wrong it was.
As for the crows, they screeched and scattered everywhere. They were scared. They hadn't attacked the enemy, and some of their kin had already been killed.
Furthermore, they glared at Su Yen and Blue Wing as they escaped for their lives.
"That's better," Su Yen nodded.
Blue Wing rolled its big eyes when it heard his words. 'What a ruthless man,' it cried in its heart.
For the next couple of hours, no beast harassed them again. As they traveled, both Su Yen and his mount believed this desert was endless.
'Perhaps, I should give up on these resources. This is just a mere waste of my time,' he thought, looking at the rising moon in the distance.
They had begun the journey in the early morning, but now, it was nighttime, and the moon had appeared.
Blue Wing was exhausted and was only pushing itself to continue flying.
Just as they were about to give up, Su Yen saw a gathering of beasts and wondered, 'Why are they not attacking each other?' he thought.
