Chapter 525 - Job

Chapter 525: Job

"Did you collect their IDs?" Professor asked while looking at the other security guards.

"Yes, Sir!" One of them responded with a nod and showed them to him.

"Take them to our hideout." Without waiting for Jessie or Charles to speak, he turned around, walked towards his carriage, and entered.

Then, his carriage also made a U-turn and moved towards the right-side alley road.

Meanwhile, John moved towards their carriage, opened the carriage door, and gestured Charles, Jessie, and Oliver to get in.

"Enter. I'll also accompany you."

John said coldly and also followed them from behind.

Meanwhile, one of the security guards moved towards the front, climbed up towards the driver's seat, and took over the coachman's position. Following that, he whipped the horse while pulling the reins and started driving the carriage.

"Where are you taking us?" Jessie asked as she sat down but got no proper response from John.

"We can talk that later." That's what he said.

Following that, he shifted his gaze towards the other guards and told them to follow the carriage closely.

All this time, Charles sat silently inside the carriage and asked Genesis about the current circumstances.

'What will happen if I try to escape?' That was what he wanted to know most.

[You'll be captured or killed within ten seconds, Host. All the security guards are powerful Rank-5 Mystics and could restrain you within seconds. Moreover, the security guard leader John might be a Rank-6 Mystic and could kill you at any second if he wants.] Genesis responded directly.

'Oh? What if I cast the [Time-Stop] skill and use the [Timeless Body] spell to escape from here?'

[It is possible to escape using that method, Host. But I don't think these security guards will give up that easily. In the worst-case scenario, they might use the city's defensive array to eliminate you.] Genesis said.

'Hmm, it seems I've no choice but to do as Professor says, huh. From the looks of it, he seems to be planning something big.' A forced smile appeared on his face.

'For now, I should do as he says and wait for the opportunity to escape.'

While Charles was discussing with Genesis, the luxurious carriage entered the right side alley road, drove past many houses, and soon joined another road. But unlike before, Charles noticed that only a few abandoned buildings appeared here and there, and the rest were filled with empty lands.

After a few minutes of travel, the carriage soon entered a large abandoned church building and stopped next to Professor's carriage.

After that, Charles and others stepped out of the carriage and looked around.

The yard was filled with weeds, vines, and trees, and the church building appeared older and damaged. What caught Charles' eyes were large cracks appearing on the walls, floor, and everywhere.

A howling wind blew through the church as the group walked towards the entrance and caused the atmosphere to turn gloomier. At that moment, Professor took the lead as he arrived near the damaged door, opened it with a single hand, and walked in.

On the other hand, Charles and others also followed inside and soon saw broken pews, chairs, tables, and even broken window glasses appear all over the place.

'This place... I smell blood inside.' His eyes darted towards the floor and noticed multiple blood marks appeared everywhere.

'So, it's a place for erasing the eyewitnesses, huh.'

He observed the surroundings carefully and soon focused on a particular map hung on the opposite wall.

With a simple glance, he could tell that it was the map of the Floating City. He then saw an X mark on a particular area on the map and tried to pinpoint the exact location.

'The X mark point towards the Northern Graveyard, Mr. Charles.' Jessie's telepathic voice echoed in his head.

At that moment, Professor stopped his footsteps as he arrived right below the damaged chandelier, turned around, and looked at Charles with a smile.

Meanwhile, Charles also stared back at him and asked.

"What are you after? Why did you bring us to this abandoned church?"

On the other hand, Professor signaled John to get near him, took out the silver ring from him, and checked it.

Then, he took out a metallic neck cuff, moved towards Jessie, and tried to put it on her neck.

"What are you doing?" Charles tried to stop him, but a powerful force appeared out of nowhere and restrained his body from moving!

"You shouldn't interrupt when I'm in the middle of doing my work, Charles."

Saying so, he finally put the neck cuff and touched the center part.

A strange invisible ripple came out of the cuff the next instant and tightened Jessie's neck a little.

She tried to open her mouth but couldn't. At that moment, she also felt that sharp pain appeared in her head and stopped her from even retaliating! Tears soon flow out of her eyes as the pain intensifies, and she hurriedly gripped her head with both hands.

Meanwhile, Professor nodded his head, took out another cuff from his space ring, and put it on Oliver's neck.

"I need your help with something, Charles. But I don't trust you fully. That's why I'll be taking these two as hostages." He added.

On the other hand, Charles observed the cuff on Jessie's neck and soon turned serious.

'It's affecting her brain!'

"If I complete that job for you, will you leave us alone?" He asked while constantly thinking about the odds of success.

"Of course. As long as you finish your job, I won't cross your path. Also, I hope you keep your promise." Professor said in a calm tone.

A strange silence appeared in the hall, followed by a deep sigh.

"What about the other security forces? Wouldn't they search for my whereabouts when they notice that the Potion bottle disappeared in the Museum Hall and come after me?"

"You don't have to worry about that problem." Professor turned his gaze towards John and added.

"Take care of that matter, John."

Meanwhile, John nodded his head and hurriedly walked towards the exit.

At that moment, Professor returned his gaze towards Charles and asked.

"Now, will you help me?"

Charles closed his eyes for a moment and soon asked.

"What is this Job?"

"That's more like it." A blooming smile appeared on Professor's face. He then touched the space ring, which he took from John, and marked with his soul imprint.

Then, he took out an eerie black scroll from inside, tossed it towards Charles, and spoke.

"I want you to go and attend Elder Seer's funeral at 4. P.M and assassinate someone."

"Oh? Who am I going to assassinate?" Charles asked, without showing any sign of emotions.

Professor made a grin and spoke.

"Demigod Rafael."
