Chapter 694: Titan DNA?
Before Hades saw Abaddon step through the portal, he thought he had some idea of what to expect.
Eye-witness accounts of the battle in Asgard were all very descriptive, despite how insane they sounded.
Only now did he feel like he had been horrendously undersold.
'This man is horrifying.'
An entity powerful enough to go to war with every corner of reality, and yet so indescribably appealing to look at that it was hard to even want to raise your blade against him.
There was very little that could have been more unfair than his existence.
"Daddy!"
Mira chucked Hades over her shoulder like a dirty garbage bag and rushed into her father's arms.
"Oh? I thought I was 'God' when we were on missions." He smiled.
Mira seemed to realize her mistake and covered her mouth with a gasp.
Abaddon chuckled and kissed her atop her head. "I'm only joking, you can call me whatever you like. Regardless of your rank, you will always be my daughter above all else."
"I know, I know."
Abaddon knew his daughter just wanted to be respected, so he never did push her too hard on the issue.
It was better than her having a rebellious phase…
Ayaana wormed her way in between the hugging father and daughter.
Abaddon noticed that there was something a little different about his wives at present…
Ayaana was pretty short, usually standing at only 6 feet tall. But somehow, she was now closer to eight feet.
"…My love… has the underworld given you some sort of a growth spurt?"
Ayaana looked down and herself and seemingly recognized the problem.
"Ah, the benefits of adapting titan flesh into our body. Our muscle density has improved some too. Wanna try?"
Ayaana held up a detached arm that looked like it belonged to a human woman. Albeit a very big one.
"So you girls faced a titan as well.. did they give you any trouble?" Abaddon asked as he tried to discern the owner of the arm.
"Obviously not if we're feeding her to you, babe." The girls dismissed.
"…Fair point."
Abaddon took a small bite of the detached limb and chewed it like it was fresh sashimi.
A new genetic aspect was added to his being the longer he chewed. He felt a bit refreshed, but not much more powerful than he was half a minute ago.
And while his muscle definition didn't improve any further, he did undergo a jump in height. Now standing at just about 8'11.
Making some smaller company a bit jealous…
"I wanna be big too!"
Mira jumped up and bit the hunk of meat before either of her parents could take it from her reach.
Much to their surprise, the reaction she had was completely different from theirs.
Mira's entire body began putting out a rather fierce glow.
Abaddon and Ayaana took a step back to give their daughter room to breathe.
…An effort that appeared to be unnecessary.
When the light finally died down, Mira was inside of a giant white egg.
"…She better not come out of there a full adult, or I will rewind time on her." Abaddon said seriously.
Ayaana chuckled as she went to inspect their daughter's new little cocoon.
A single touch with her fingertips was all that it took to tell the immense power that was coursing through it. Remaking her.
"Our babies grow up so fast, don't they..?" She planted a small kiss on Mira's shell.
"…They do indeed. But it is better than them never getting the chance to grow up at all."
Ayaana touched Mira's egg and sent it back home to her room.
Finally, she turned back to her husband and closed the distance between them.
She placed her hand on the nape of his neck and pulled his head down so that their foreheads were resting against each other.
"…We were a little bit worried when we couldn't hear your voice. Either of you.."
"Sorry to scare you all. Gaia's little ploy was well crafted." Abaddon admitted.
Hades' ears perked up, but he remained deathly quiet.
"The earth mother? Did she bring you trouble?" The girls asked.
"Obviously not, since I am standing right here."
Ayaana bit her husband's lips hard to show their lack of amusement.
"Alright, alright.." He chuckled. "She was more annoying than she was troublesome. But our Bekka seems to have eaten her soul."
Hades' jaw fully dropped open.
"Oh? And where is our lovely little glutton?" The girls smiled.
"I took her home… She needed rest."
Ayaana could tell that there was more to the story than what Abaddon was initially telling her.
Perhaps he was just keeping quiet due to the presence of an outsider nearby.
But since he sounded a little worried, the girls soon shared that sentiment.
"Let's hurry and return home then, yea? Something tells me we shouldn't leave our girl at home by herself for too long."
Once again, Abaddon felt that women's intuition was one of the most frightening things to ever exist.
He and Ayaana finally separated and together the two of them walked hand-in-hand towards the chained gates.
This was perhaps the first time in Hades' life that the death god had been ignored and overlooked as if he weren't even there.
Nobody even addressed him!
But when he remembered that earlier conversation he'd overheard about 'eating' the literal embodiment of earth, he decided that maybe it would be best if he didn't complain.
Abaddon and Ayaana stopped just shy of the massive gates of Tartarus.
The chains keeping the door shut were silver colored, but occasionally glowed with a faint purple light.
Abaddon lifted his right arm above his head.
His normal limb transformed into a monstrously large dragon arm.
He easily gripped the chains between his fingers like they were simple string.
Ayaana disabled the magic within the chains before it could try to harm her husband, or activate any other unlikeable effects.
Meanwhile, Abaddon tore off the chains with next to no resistance.
Hades had already reached his limit for the amount of surprises he could tolerate in such a short time period, and his mind threatened to shut down completely.
Abaddon casually discarded the pieces of broken metal and stared at the door without saying anything.
Ayaana shared the same look as him, paired with a cute smirk.
"Unbelievable… all of this going on and he wasn't even awake to witness it."
Abaddon couldn't help but laugh.
"He doesn't even know of her existence yet… but he and his mother will likely form a fast bond."
The all important moment came where Abaddon rested his hand against the ancient stone of the doors.
His tattoos glowed brighter than stadium lights as the whole of the realm began to tremble.
Hades was caught between holding onto something for dear life, or burning this sight into his memory.
But at the very moment that he had this thought, a large rock fell from the ceiling and thumped him on the back of the head; knocking him out.
- 2 Days Later..
Bekka opened her eyes with a jolt.
Once she sat up, she quickly checked her bed for the usual bodies that occupied it and found that there was one missing.
Her heart started to speed up considerably, and before she knew what she was doing, she had crawled out of bed.
Abaddon and Lisa were sleeping peacefully on either side of her, and she knew that she only had about two minutes before the lack of her body heat woke them up.
Bekka exited the room quietly and wandered into the dark hallway.
She followed her senses to the living room in their private wing where she could see the glow of the tv even from down the hall.
Ordinarily, she would have suspected it to be Nyx, as the ancient goddess had developed quite the interest in dragon television since she'd moved in.
It was keeping her so preoccupied that she had only tried to flirt with them a couple of times.
Who knew that was the answer all along?
Instead of the night goddess, Bekka found their family's resident winter goddess sprawled out on the sofa in a thin lace robe.
She was busy licking away at a ball of wine that she'd accidentally turned into a popsicle.
"Sif."
"J-Jesus…" the jotunn jolted. "Are we going to have to put a bell on you now..?"
Since becoming the same class of deity as Abaddon, it was much harder to pick up Bekka through most senses.
And by harder, I mean impossible.
As the void she literally makes no sound when she moves. Neither the sound of her heartbeat or her breathing can be perceived either.
Unless she is intentionally trying to make noise, it is easy to not notice her approaching.
"Should you… be up right now? You know everyone wants you resting in your condition."
Sif looked down at Bekka's stomach that had only just begun to show signs of protrusion.
She was finally pregnant.
"You left." Bekka's ears drooped. "I had to find you."
Sif smiled wryly. Bekka had always had some canine traits, but now she was just like one big puppy who you couldn't leave alone for longer than a minute.
It should have been annoying, but it was so cute that it was hard to care.
Sif scratched her cheek in embarrassment.
"I kind of… didn't think your whole longing thing would apply to me."
Bekka seemed to take a moment to respond to her claim before she inevitably came to sit beside her.
"I think… maybe we should have a talk about everything."
