Chapter 80 074 Haze Control Plan

That evening, Bai Zhongqi was invited to a state banquet. The underlying purpose of such occasions is often to foster personal relationships among high-ranking attendees on both sides, enhancing intimacy and thereby facilitating other work. Yet, for a state banquet between an Earth nation and an extraterrestrial one, the atmosphere was inevitably somewhat awkward.

What to eat wasn't a big issue, the real challenge was what to talk about. Discuss the culture and customs of Country C? The Iridium Star Chancellor himself was born in Country C, so he likely knew everything there was to know. Talking about the culture and customs of Iridium Star would be interesting, but that depended on whether the Iridium Star side was willing to share.

Bai Zhongqi didn't wish to reveal too much about Iridium Star, as it was technically from another universe, a secret Earth still needed to keep. But considering the vastness of the Empire, there were plenty of inconsequential details to chat about.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

The master Star Warrior, who had been the center of attention today, was a man who kept his word. He had told Bai Zhongqi that he would go skewer-eating tonight, and indeed, he didn't attend the banquet, vanishing into some alley unknown. Bai Zhongqi, overhearing some of the words he mumbled while leaving, felt his heart race and his face lose color. For he seemed to have heard the term "grass dust."

Passing the night without incident, Bai Zhongqi got up early the next day. Finally, he enjoyed a very Chinese breakfast at the hotel where he was staying, somewhat returning to a typical dietary routine of a person from Country C.

He contemplated notifying Country C that before officially opening up the immigration project from Earth to the two cities of Iridium Star, it would be prudent to employ some talents to work in Ruyi City on a labor basis—among them, Chinese chefs were indispensable.

The schedule for Bai Zhongqi was not particularly packed; usually, there was just one event per day. He had another activity to attend today, and then he would return to Ruyi City tomorrow. Although his stay in the Imperial Capital was short, Bai Zhongqi had pressing matters to attend to, namely the air purification issue he had discussed with the Sacred Falcon the day before.

For such technical issues, he directly contacted the Empire's Scientific Research Institute. Director Mo was still engaged in the project of restoring the Empire's technology, and responsible for providing a solution to Bai Zhongqi's problem was the blonde genius Linyin.

Linyin appeared to have just gotten up. She hadn't even made it to the lab and was still in her apartment. At the moment, the scholarly beauty was wearing a loose-fitting nightgown that conspicuously bulged only at the chest, and Bai Zhongqi could vaguely make out some spots.

This made the Imperial Chancellor feel somewhat embarrassed; he had to avert his eyes, lest the revealing sight disturb his peace of mind.

Linyin didn't seem to realize there was anything inappropriate about her attire. If it had been her teacher, he would have probably reprimanded her by now. Facing Bai Zhongqi, who seemed to be around the same age as her, she felt no great pressure and wasn't the least bit restrained.

"Hmm, do you want to remove the inhalable particulate matter and harmful substances from the air? We have the equipment for that," Linyin promptly presented Bai Zhongqi with a ready-made solution.

Iridium Star had production and living operations on many planets that were not suitable for human habitation. Some planets' atmospheres contained highly toxic substances, while others were filled with both visible and invisible dust, making the air quality extremely poor.

Iridium Star was quite experienced in air pollution control and even atmosphere transformation of planets. However, such endeavors often take a considerable amount of time, with transforming a planet's atmosphere to a level suitable for human habitation possibly taking decades or even centuries, not to mention the high cost.

Iridium Star itself had numerous Administrative Stars and Resource Stars, where human habitation was highly feasible, and in many places, they didn't even have enough colonial population to distribute. Therefore, their interest in making inhospitable planets livable was not very high.

Many of the transformation processes were more national experimental projects to test technological capabilities or to extract certain substances from the planet's atmosphere, like carbon compounds, nitrogen, helium, etc.

After providing Bai Zhongqi with a brief explanation, Linyin said, "Our exploration Fleet itself is equipped with two small-scale atmospheric transformation devices that could be used for your air purification. However, these two devices are extremely large and consume a lot of energy.

If dispatched to Earth, we would have to build two fusion reactors in Country C to power the atmospheric transformation devices. I don't particularly recommend this. If you want immediate results, we could send over a fleet of small industrial drones.

These drones are capable of ionizing the air to generate negative oxygen ions, which would bind with air particles and eventually settle to the ground, removing aerosols from the atmosphere. We could also implement targeted treatment to specifically remove gases like sulfur dioxide. We can even dispatch large spacecraft to conduct similar tasks at higher power in the air.

With six large landing craft and a squadron of 3,000 small industrial drones, we should be able to achieve significant results within three hours for the Imperial Capital area."

After listening, Bai Zhongqi stroked his chin and nodded, "Okay, let's proceed with that plan."

Since taking control of the Iridium Star Fleet, Bai Zhongqi had been steadily constructing a number of starships, primarily used for transportation and engineering between orbiting planets. A typical example was the Whale-type orbital transport vessel, designed for cargo traffic between planets and orbital trade ports.

While not exceptionally heavy in payload, it could carry over thirty thousand tons. Its own power system used an anti-gravity system and plasma propellant. The starships Bai Zhongqi had built were all capable of large-scale air ionization, even though they were not originally designed to act as city air purifiers.

As for the small industrial drones, they were actually industrial equipment designed to work with unmanned engineering vessels. Iridium Star had already manufactured and stored a million of these drones, a quarter of which were built during Bai Zhongqi's tenure.

These drones, about the size of an Earth helicopter, could be flexibly deployed in construction and engineering projects on planets and in orbit.

When discussing professional and scholarly topics, Linyin was very serious. Wearing a stern expression on her beautiful face, she added, "Your Excellency, actually, to improve the air quality of a region, this approach is not a very good method. We are using something that is hundreds of times more advanced to solve a very simple problem."

Bai Zhongqi didn't take offense at Linyin's words and nodded in agreement, "You're right. To use Country C's phrase, we are 'shooting a mosquito with a cannon,' which is indeed wasteful. To improve North China's air quality, we need fundamental solutions."

"Yes, Your Excellency. After Country C signs the alliance agreement with us, we will naturally be able to reform its national industry and motor vehicles. We should abolish what needs abolishing, improve what should be improved, and solve the source of air pollution from the ground up. Doing this won't require too much of our resources yet can bring other benefits to the Empire."

Bai Zhongqi looked at Linyin with new respect, finding the scholarly beauty to have quite an insightful perspective.
