Chapter 722: Spear

Chapter 722: Spear

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Sylas' body suddenly accelerated, his arms doing full moon-like arcs through the skies as he almost gently parried three in a row.

Each one left gaping holes in the volcano's inner walls, carrying a power that shook Sylas'

arms.

But his control over his own body at this point was beyond reproach. The only problem was that his telekinesis wasn't strong enough to keep him completely still in the air against these arrows. If they were, he could just use his telekinesis to directly deflect them instead of having to use a combination of martial skill and it.

Thoughts swirled in Sylas' mind.

He didn't know how to deal with this situation. He could handle the arrows, but he couldn't get closer. And he couldn't run, or else that would mean leaving the Basilisk King behind.

Right now, he had invested too much into his contract to allow it to just vanish now. Sylas was about to parry the next volley of arrows as he figured out what to do when another overwhelming sense of danger practically pierced through his mind like a spear.

A bone spear appeared by the side of his head, silent and deadly. It carried so much strength that the shudder Sylas felt went through to the depths of his soul.

He tried to form a quick barrier of Glass, not having enough time to cast <Ice Banned Shield>. Unfortunately, the concentration of Fire and Earth type Aether in the surroundings was too heavy. He couldn't gather what he needed to form a full barrier of Glass Aether either.

CHI.

The barrier shattered from the pressure of the spear alone, and in a blink, it was already piercing through the outer layer of his Scorpion Warlord Armor, barely having been slowed at all.

The scent of death bore down, drilling its way into his nose and saturating his very soul.

However, when it buffeted against Sylas' Will, it found a chilly wind that iced it over into submission. There was a deathly stillness in the depths of Sylas' eyes as he felt his Will solidify.

His mind seemed to have undergone a baptism and the earlier indecisiveness had vanished into the wind.

He had to kill Lucius. How could he die here?

The Dogon hidden in the shadows suddenly found a tail piercing toward it. The Bone-Tailed Lizard's tail had appeared out of nowhere, being wrapped by the Scorpion Warlord's tail. Mutual destruction.

There was a snort that echoed out. The young Dogon seemed very confident in his defenses.

But it was at that moment that the Bone-Tailed Lizard's poison was ejected into the Scorpion Warlord's tail.

It whirred with life and the Runes solidified into a dense blackness that etched goosebumps into the body of the Dogon.

Danger.

No matter how powerful the spear, even with the weakening of Sylas' armor, he still had over 4000 Defense. It had visibly slowed down.

It became a matter of Will.

A Martial Will stirred deep within Sylas and he seemed to be holding the weight of all the martial artists of Earth on his back.

Mixed Martial Arts activated and his Will took a step forward, solidifying in the air with a great pressure.

Runes filled his eyes and pressure lines pulsed in the surroundings.

At the same time, Madness fused into his Mixed Martial Arts Aura, battering against the Dogon's mind.

Sylas felt it clearly when his Will broke.

The spear's momentum was shattered and Sylas' palm caught it the instant it pierced the skin of the side of his head.

His grip tightened down and a surging might came from him as he pivoted, throwing out a palm.

Tail and palm moved in a synchronized cadence, the former reaching the target long before the latter.

CHI. BANG!

The tail was stopped by a barrier, but as though Sylas had already expected this, his palm only accelerated, carrying with it a rhythmic cadence that vibrated and shook the air.

The backward momentum of the Dogon was mitigated by the Skill and Sylas' telekinesis at the same time.

Their gazes met and a look of horror seemed to set in for the young Dogon as Sylas' palm slammed through the last of his Defenses, crashing into his chest.

A powerful hidden Rune triggered, but Sylas pushed through it.

BOOM!

A hollow echo of palm meeting chest was followed by the sickening sound of shattering bone.

A pressure wave of telekinesis slammed into the Dogon's back at the same time as Sylas' palm burst almost through his chest.

Blood spurted from the Dogon's mouth as he was sent flying into the distance, finally losing grip on his spear.

Sylas stood high in the skies, suddenly reaching out with his free hand and catching an arrow aiming for his still-bleeding throat.

The arrow burst into flames, but the spear in his hand remained just fine as though his Scorned Wraps hadn't noticed it at all.

[Dragon Bone Spear (Gold)]

Sylas' eyes narrowed. He raised his gaze from the spear and toward the Dogon that crashed

into the sea of red-gold.

[Kyreth Zyrakhn (—)]

[Level: 9]

'... Warlord... They killed the snail...'n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Sylas understood why this young man was so powerful now. Not only did he have these shocking treasures on his body, but they had killed the Snail Queen in advance, gaining

Warlord status.

Meaning... on top of their stats, Kyreth was the equivalent of a Quasi King Beast in this

Territory.

A wave of fatigue hit Sylas as the weight of having two Comprehensions active at once hit

him.

'Not good...'

BANG!

Kyreth shot out of the sea of lava, coughing up a mouthful of blood.

Runes danced around the concave dent in his chest, seemingly mending it in real time. But

this was obviously not an instantaneous process.

What was instantaneous, though... was the crown that appeared above his head.

'... I miscalculated.'

He hadn't thought that the Snail Queen would fall in such a short time. He didn't even know

why or how the Dogons could be here all of a sudden, otherwise he would have never made

such a mistake.

'... The Overlord Quest!'

Sylas realized then that he hadn't gotten a notification that the Overlord Quest was over

despite the death of the Snail Queen.

His eyes widened just as his stats plummeted by 50%.
