On the other side, Elymia was walking quickly down the corridor with Anvina in front, followed by three maids behind her.
“I’m wearing this kind of clothes for the first time, it feels really strange.”
One maid exclaimed excitedly, lifting the hem of her skirt and taking small steps, her shoes making a clicking sound on the smooth marble floor.
“It’s better to wear less of this kind of clothing.”
Another maid replied. She had her golden hair tied in a ponytail, swinging as she ran. This was Claire, the headmistress and mascot of the Luna Nova Magical Academy. The other two maids with her, Dana and Fina, were not servants of the Albione family but were part of the plan to infiltrate the mansion and rescue Elymia.
According to Reiner’s plan, the operation was divided into two parts.
Reiner and the high-level mage would appear before the crowd, applying pressure on the pureblood families with the theory of inheritance and aiming to create a distraction.Meanwhile, Claire and her team would prevent Elymia from being detained and forced into a wedding by the Albione family, especially considering the unpredictable actions of Edward.
The plan has been successful so far. Anvina, who had been Elymia’s personal maid, was familiar with the castle’s various routes. Ten minutes earlier, they had disguised themselves as a welcoming party for Elymia, received her, and then left through a hidden path to avoid most of the guards.
They had considered leaving the estate directly, but to avoid drawing attention, they took a longer route. Currently, they are lingering in a corridor on one side of the mansion.
Of course, they have another option, which is to go directly to the banquet hall where the wedding is held. Although there are all pure-blood mages there, there are also high-level mages, so it is another safe place.
“Up ahead, it seems like someone is there,” Fina whispered calmly. Her maid outfit was a bit large, and the hem and cuffs of her skirt were longer, making her look even smaller. As she spoke, she stopped, and in her mind, a spell model rapidly formed, creating an invisible barrier in front of them.
“Hey, Fina, what’s going on?”
Claire was a bit puzzled but also slowed her pace along with the others.
Bang!
The next moment, a small fireball hit the location where Claire and the others were supposed to be. The intense heat was blocked by the barrier, preventing any harm.
“We’ve been discovered?”
Anvina became a bit flustered for a moment. She was just an ordinary person with no magical abilities. If Fina hadn’t reminded her earlier, she might have been hit by the fireball already, with dire consequences.
“You bastards, daring to act recklessly in my home,” a distorted voice came from behind the smoke, sending shivers down Elymia’s spine.
It was Edward.
“Trying to escape from the mansion, don’t you dare think that I don’t know.” Edward spoke, and several figures appeared beside him—strong-looking guards clad in leather armor, wielding sharp spears. It was clear that their equipment was enchanted with magic, the private army of the Albione family.
In the era of the Ancient Magic Empire, the scale of these private armies was even larger, with up to 3,000 people, enough to control the large areas around Berger City and its surroundings. It was not until the modern magic revolution that these private armies were banned, but the pure-blood families more or less raised some of them as swords to exert their authority.
Edward himself was a second-level mage. In contrast, among Claire’s group, except for the just-promoted Fina and the seemingly unreliable Claire, both Dana and Elymia were still apprentices. Anvina, being an ordinary person, had no magical abilities. From both a magic and combat perspective, they were at a significant disadvantage against Edward.
“Elymia’s mother was wrongly accused. She has no reason to stay in this house any longer,”
Claire retorted with some hesitation, thinking about ways to escape. She didn’t have much magic, but at least she could buy some time in front of Edward. Directly leaving the estate seemed difficult now: they might have to go to Reiner.
“Wrongly accused? Look at her, with that mixed blood appearance, that filthy red hair. There’s no way she’s from the Albione family!”
Edward laughed, fully aware of his advantageous position, becoming even more reckless.
“If you assist this bastard in escaping, don’t think you can escape punishment. Haha, I’ll make each of you become like me, unable to leave the bed for even half a step.”
Edward threatened, licking his lips as he eyed the beautiful maids beside Elymia.
In the Albione household, he is the master!
Feeling a chill in her stomach, Claire took half a step back. The behavior of this pureblood was utterly disgusting, and Claire couldn’t help but feel nauseated. However, she dared not act recklessly. A first-level mage fighting against a second-level mage would be at a disadvantage, and higher-level magic would seize the free magic particles in the air, preventing lower-level mages from casting spells normally.
“Wait for a moment, you guys go find Reiner. I’ll try to buy some time.”
Claire whispered to Elymia and the others. She gently grasped the pendant around her neck, which contained a third level magical spell, Isharith’s Wall of Sighs, enough to resist Edward for a while. Even though using magic of a higher level might damage the soul, at this point, Claire had little choice.
“Wait, Professor Claire, I…”
Dana seemed to have something to say, but Claire didn’t let her finish.
“It’s okay. When I was a child, I was most skilled at hide-and-seek. They won’t catch me.”
Claire said confidently, forcing a somewhat strained smile.
“Stop talking nonsense. None of you can escape.”
Edward waved his hand, and the guards behind him prepared to surround Elymia and the others.
In his own hand, a new flame gathered. This blood power derived from the Albione family was a weapon that Edward was proud of. His eyes widened, his bloodshot eyes faintly highlighted.
Claire held the pendant on her chest tightly and was about to use the magic engraved inside, when a figure suddenly stood in between them.
It was Dana.
She held a slender wooden stick that she seemingly pulled out of nowhere, resembling a wand.
“What can an apprentice achieve?” Edward mocked, raising the fireball in his hand. Simultaneously, several guards took steps forward with their spears shining brightly.
“Professor Claire, Mr. Reiner said I could use this spell according to my judgment during a crisis.”
At the last moment, Dana pointed the wand at Edward, chanting a seemingly incomprehensible word.
“Explosion!!!”
From the tip of the wand, a massive and pure force surged, absorbing all the free magic particles in the air within several hundred meters.
Accompanied by a loud roar, an unprecedented large mushroom cloud rose from the flat ground.
