Chapter 142: A surprise?

"I wonder who that is" Alex said as he heard a knock outside. "Is Hana back?" Alex spoke as he walked to the door and slowly opened it.

Alex looked surprised to see Midnight who was fiddling around on her phone. She looked forward and her eyes opened wide. At first, she was confused but after a second of realization, She jumped forward and hugged Alex.

"Alex Alex, is that really you?" She seemed to be happy. Alex, a little bit shocked hugged Midnight back and nodded, "I don't think there would be another Alex here. So I assume that I'm the Alex you are talking about." Alex joked.

Midnight looked at Alex, tears in her eyes, and smiled, "You look different but I guess you also changed a tiny bit in the last six months But, there is so much you need to tell me. But I can leave you for now. I just need to know if you're fine or not."

Alex scratched his head and nodded, "I'm fine Although, I am surprised by this reaction I didn't expect anyone to come jumping into my arms after I was out for a few months" Alex smiled.

Midnight rolled her eyes and walked into the room, "Alex, There are many people who care for you, regardless of how little we came to know you that time We all knew you were a good person, and to hear that you just disappeared into thin air was already a shocking thing. But after a week or so, Master Zhun said that you're most probably dead because he didn't feel you at all. At first, he knew you were alive because he could feel your presence but later on, he just said that you might have passed I was in shock because I looked at you as if you were my own little brother. I never had one so It felt nice that you came into my life But then to hear you died, It was just heart-wrenching Well, For a bit but later on, I heard that Hana was against that thought and said that she had a feeling that you were alive. I guess I kept that hope as well And I'm happy that she was right." She smiled as she slowly explained. 

Alex looked at Midnight with a bright smile, He didn't expect her to say that but it warmed his heart when he heard her words. Midnight saw Alex's smiled took a deep breath, "I guess Hana cares for me more than I thought she would It seems like she contacted me first when you arrived I have to thank her." Midnight said as she jumped on the couch. 

Alex nodded and smiled, "I guess she is the less showy caring kind. She probably cares about you a lot but doesn't show." He sat on the couch as well and answered.

Midnight nodded and looked at Alex, "Well, now that we're here Alex, why don't you tell me where you were gone for so long?" his eyes had a threatening vibe to them. Alex slightly shook when he saw Midnight's face. She was serious. 

"Well I guess you could say that I was training on my own. I can't explain it myself, I mean. You can tell that many things have changed about me and most of it, I can't even explain. So I guess the easiest way I could explain it would be that I was training." Alex said honestly. He was speaking mostly the truth. He really had no idea. He went through trials and then it was just like sleeping, he touched the cube and just woke up.

Midnight looked at Alex and sighed, "I guess that would suffice." She seemed disappointed. Midnight stood up looked at Alex. "Also, how'd you like my trick?" She smiled cheekily.

Alex looked confused. 'Kid, You felt slightly off and scared when you heard her voice. That was her power. She used her ability to influence you and essentially just threaten you in a way that you wouldn't even know I'll tell you, she's way more powerful than when you knew her last.' Hades explained.

Hearing Hades, Alex was happily surprised by Midnight's power. "You used your powers." Alex smiled as he looked at Midnight. 'Are you saying that she is more powerful than me, even after I got that huge power up?' Alex was surprised.

Hades answered, "Indeed, She would be around S rank. She hasn't reached it yet but with a lot of practice, she could reach that rank without a problem. Like she said before, her physical powers are lacking but I can't fully assess it from just looking at her. But from what I can see in terms of ability, she is able to do a lot more than just sing melodies to stun reapers like she used to do before. I bet she could drive a weaker person completely mad if she used her powers in a more concentrated method.' 

Alex was slightly in awe when he heard Hades' explanation. He looked at Midnight in a new light. 'I thought she would still be the same but I'm delightfully surprised at the fact that she is still even more powerful than me.' Alex smiled.

Midnight looked at Alex with a proud face and nodded, "I got stronger, a lot stronger than before." She poked her tongue out a little bit. Midnight then turned to the door and smiled, "I can smell food here, and looking at your hands, it seems like you'll be having some of Hana's hand-cooked food, you lucky bastard." 

Alex glanced towards the kitchen and laughed, 'I didn't even see the pots there. I  guess I did get a bit hungry.'

Midnight then turned to the door and spoke, "I'll meet you downstairs in an hour. Get ready. We'll have a battle." She walked outside and closed the door behind her. 

After a second, Midnight opened the door once again and smiled, "One more thing, Things have changed a bit in the last 6 months or so. So just be ready to see a huge change."
