I Became the Henchman of a Novel’s Villain

Chapter 15 - Hit Someone, and Let the Master Take the Blame—That's Only Natural!

Chapter 15: Hit Someone, and Let the Master Take the Blame—That’s Only Natural!

The sharp voice startled Chu Yun, causing his actions to pause slightly.

In that brief moment, Bai Zhou quickly retreated to his original position. He knew very well how strong the original protagonist Chu Yun was. If he had taken that kick head-on, he might have ended up in the hospital chatting with nurses for a few months. But luckily, that didn’t happen.

Not only that, but Bai Zhou had fully embraced his role as the villain’s sidekick, going straight in and giving the protagonist a solid slap in the face.

Hahaha! What a rush! And the best part? You didn’t hit me! You missed! Doesn’t that just make you furious? Are you mad now? Huh? Are you?

Of course, Bai Zhou’s smug satisfaction was kept hidden.

On the surface, he was still the “cool and stoic” sidekick behind Li Yonggang.

Everyone turned to look at the woman who had called out. Bai Zhou did the same.

A girl with a face that could easily score a 9 out of 10, dressed in business attire and struggling in high heels, was running toward them.

Chu Yun, mid-kick, was already feeling irritated. But in front of this woman, he couldn’t show it.

Instead, he said coldly, “Secretary Chen, what’s the matter?”

Secretary Chen?

Bai Zhou raised his eyebrows slightly upon hearing the name.

Could she be Mu Qingqing’s secretary, Chen Su?

In the original novel, Chen Su was essentially Mu Qingqing’s personal attendant. After she got involved with the despicable Chu Yun, she became one of the minor female leads. Though her emotional storyline was minimal, having a side character who could score a 9 out of 10 was something …

Chen Su finally caught her breath after running over and looked at Chu Yun, saying, “Captain Chu! President Mu said to let Young Master Li in.”

“What?!” Both Chu Yun and the security guards were momentarily stunned by her words.

“No!” Chu Yun immediately objected.

“Secretary Chen, don’t you know what kind of person Li Yonggang is? There’s no way Qingqing would agree to let him in!”

Chen Su furrowed her brows slightly at Chu Yun’s remark and responded seriously: “I’m just conveying President Mu’s instructions. Aren’t we all working for her?”

That last rhetorical question was the key. It also subtly reminded Chu Yun of his current position.

Chu Yun’s face twitched in anger. It was easy to imagine how furious he must have felt at that moment. But his goal was to win over the original female lead, Mu Qingqing. He couldn’t afford to keep lowering her opinion of him! Especially since he was now just the security captain of Mu Hai Group!

So, he had to endure it.

After all, protagonists in novels are often depicted as masters of patience, right?

Meanwhile, Bai Zhou could hardly contain his laughter. Once again, the original male lead had been put in his place! Moreover, throughout Chu Yun and Chen Su’s conversation, Bai Zhou’s name wasn’t even mentioned.

All the focus was on Young Master Li!! But Li Yonggang hadn’t done a thing!

Hahaha, the joy of being the villain’s sidekick. Bullying with power—doesn’t it feel great?

And since Bai Zhou was just someone in the background, all of Chu Yun’s resentment would be directed at Li Yonggang! After all, Bai Zhou’s status wasn’t high enough to warrant much attention. Yet it was Bai Zhou who had slapped Chu Yun!

It’s like hiring a lady of the night—enjoyment is yours, but someone else foots the bill!

Are you mad, Chu Yun? Hehehe!

“Hmph!”

Chu Yun let out a cold snort and reluctantly stepped aside, making way for Li Yonggang.

Chen Su let out a sigh of relief and turned to Li Yonggang, saying: “Please come this way, Young Master Li.”

Li Yonggang glanced back at his underlings and said, “You all wait outside. Bai Zhou will come with me.”

“Yes, Young Master!” They answered in unison.

Bai Zhou, of course, followed Li Yonggang as they stepped forward.

Seeing this, Chen Su couldn’t help but notice: So that handsome guy who’s even better-looking than Chu Yun is named Bai Zhou? Why did Chu Yun want to hit him earlier? Could it be … jealousy over his looks?”

Clearly, Chen Su’s thoughts had spiraled into the realm of fantasy.

Just as Bai Zhou was about to step through the door after Li Yonggang,

Chu Yun blocked his path.

Bai Zhou frowned slightly, thinking: This guy isn’t seriously thinking about hitting me now, is he?

Chen Su had the same thought and immediately stepped forward to stop Chu Yun.

“Captain Chu, what are you doing?” she demanded.

But it was clear Chu Yun wasn’t planning to hit Bai Zhou anymore. Instead, his gaze was filled with menace as he leaned in close and whispered in Bai Zhou’s ear: “I know yesterday’s kidnapping was orchestrated by your master, Li Yonggang. Tell him that I, Chu Yun, will not allow such things to happen again.”

Of course!!

Hahaha!!

Chu Yun was still sending a message to Bai Zhou to pass on to his “master,” Li Yonggang! But this was understandable. From an outsider’s perspective, Bai Zhou was just one of Li Yonggang’s underlings.

Bai Zhou, still secretly amused, responded calmly, “If you don’t clean up your language, our Young Master won’t hesitate to teach you a lesson on behalf of your President Mu.”

With that, Bai Zhou sidestepped Chu Yun and entered Mu Hai Group.

Left behind, Chu Yun clenched his fists tightly, the sound of his knuckles cracking audibly.

However, Bai Zhou had purposely emphasized the words “our Young Master” in his response.

The implication was clear: “Everything I did was at Young Master Li’s command!”

Of course!!

Even without saying it outright, that’s exactly how everyone saw it. As Li Yonggang’s subordinate, would anyone dare act without his orders?

Poor Li Yonggang had to take the blame again!
