Chapter 26: “Li Yonggang’s Blind Date? Second Female Lead!”

Driving the car, Bai Zhou’s mind kept circling back to Chen Zhong. Before he realized it, he had already arrived at the entrance of Yipin Hotpot.

Parking the car by the roadside, Bai Zhou quietly calculated to himself: “In the original plot, Chu Yun, that brat, realized Chen Zhong wasn’t an ordinary person the moment he saw him, and immediately wanted to recruit him. And that damn brat, as the protagonist, really had the aura of the ‘chosen one,’ conveniently encountering such an opportunity while strolling down a secluded alley with a girl. While winning over Chen Zhong, he even managed to show off in front of the girl—what a jerk!”

The incident Bai Zhou was referring to was the kind of cliché plot found in many urban novels.

Chen Zhong had a younger sister, who, due to some issues, fell into debt with loan sharks. Despite Chen Zhong working hard to pay it off, the loan sharks still came after her.

The original protagonist, Chu Yun, not only used his fighting skills to drive away the thugs collecting the debt, but also paid off Chen Zhong’s sister’s massive debt out of his own pocket.

This didn’t just win over Chen Zhong, Chu Yun even ended up with Chen Zhong’s sister.

Isn’t that practically beastly behavior?

Chu Yun had money, of course, since an old man gave him a large sum of money when he left the mountains, which made Chu Yun one of the wealthiest people around.

Bai Zhou mentally calculated the timeline. It had only been a day since the kidnapping of the original female lead, Mu Qingqing. Chu Yun hadn’t yet met the pretty girl he would take to the hotpot restaurant.

Bai Zhou clearly remembered one key event. It was after a grand party involving the entire upper class of Magic City!

Chu Yun met a girl working as a waitress at that hotel.

After a big show at the party, the next day, he took that girl to Yipin Hotpot.

“Forget it.”

After organizing the timeline in his mind, Bai Zhou shook his head: “I’ll deal with that after the party ends!”

He was just about to start the car and leave Yipin Hotpot when suddenly his phone rang in his pocket.

It was Li Yonggang.

Didn’t the Li family have some business to take care of today? Why was he calling now?  

Though puzzled, Bai Zhou answered the call:

“Young Master?”

Li Yonggang’s hurried voice came through the phone: “Bai Zhou, come to the back gate of my house to pick me up! Hurry!”

Then he hung up abruptly.

“Huh?”

Li Yonggang’s urgent tone left Bai Zhou a bit stunned.

“Could something have happened at the Li house?”

Damn! It couldn’t be this soon, could it? If something happened to the Li family, how could I throw my weight around anymore?!

Without thinking further, Bai Zhou started the car and raced toward the Li family villa.

When he arrived, everything seemed normal.

The black-clad guards at the gate were all in place; nothing seemed amiss.

One of them even asked when he saw Bai Zhou’s car: “Brother Zhou? What brings you back?”

“Oh, the young master asked me to pick him up.”

Still feeling uncertain, Bai Zhou slowly drove to the back gate of the villa.

As soon as he arrived, a shadow suddenly darted out from the bushes in the dark!

The headlights illuminated the figure.

The richest man’s daughter in Jinling, with looks comparable to Mu Qingqing? It had to be Zhou Siyun!! The second female lead of the entire novel, Zhou Siyun!!  

Although she appeared later in the original novel, Zhou Siyun held a place in Chu Yun’s heart nearly equal to Mu Qingqing!

Her first appearance was as Li Yonggang’s fiancée! By that time, Mu Qingqing had already become entangled with Chu Yun.

The original novel had described it.

Though Zhou Siyun and Li Yonggang appeared publicly as an engaged couple, there had never been any real progress between them. The reason was that Li Yonggang only had feelings for one woman—Mu Qingqing.

At that moment, Li Yonggang’s voice came from the passenger seat: “Bai Zhou, you know me. Ever since I met Mu Qingqing, I haven’t been able to like anyone else.”
