Chapter 63 Planning
Small manor.
Room on the third floor.
Chen Lun sat by the window, looking down at his own arm.
Gurgling...
Beneath the skin covered in dark golden scales, his muscles slowly writhed, his entire arm snaking around. The serpent's head rose, revealing two fangs glowing with a faint green luster.
— Those were two of Chen Lun's fingers.
"The 'Serpentine Incarnation,' 'Snake's Kiss,' and 'Carp Armor'... Is it already the limit to exert three Attributes at the same time?
This is still because they are relatively compatible with each other, otherwise such an effect would not be achieved."
Chen Lun dispelled the changes on his arm and began to think and analyze.
Since becoming a Transcendent, he hadn't systematically planned his power system.
After his trip to the zoo, he had gained quite a few new Attributes. After sorting and picking, the ten memory slots left by 'Animal Mimicry' contained only those he felt were of special value.
He intended to make sensible arrangements for himself, allowing his powers to be utilized to a more perfect effect.
'Molting,' 'Serpent Senses,' 'Scorpion Tail Needle,' 'Stork Stomach,' 'Stork Peck,' 'Rhinoceros Impact,' and 'Bear Strike,' plus the previous three made a total of ten.
The former 'Ultrasonic Wave' he had also eliminated, as its slight controlling effect overlapped with the Hypnosis Necklace, and was even far inferior.
"It's a pity that even after obtaining flying Attributes, I still can't fly at all..."
Chen Lun sighed inwardly.
This was the limitation of Sequence Nine, something he couldn't change through human effort.
Perhaps after he advanced to Sequence Eight, he could try again. An ascension in Sequence not only brings new transcendent powers but can also cover the prior Sequence Abilities and lift their upper limits.
"I'll try then to integrate the ten Attributes into one, which will most likely produce a qualitative change."
Chen Lun felt that it was feasible and was filled with anticipation.
He then looked at the equipment laid out on the table, the three 'Mysterious Objects' he currently possessed—a necklace, a hand crossbow, and a badge.
Ignoring the word 'damaged,' neatly one each from B, C, and D.
"With the 16 Attribute Points stored in the panel, I'm about as close as I can be to the limit of Sequence Nine, and against a Transcendent of one Sequence higher than me, it's not impossible to put up a fight."
Chen Lun rested his chin on his hand and mused, wearing the Dragon King's characteristic Nike smile:
"Underestimating me would be a 'lese-majesty,' and I'd flip them on the spot!"
"Mr. Jack, it's time to eat!"
Connie's call came from outside the room, and Chen Lun switched his face like a Sichuan Opera performer, reverting to normal.
"Wait a moment, I'll be right there."
He packed up the items on the table and got up to leave.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Floey, as usual, had cooked a hearty lunch, not only delicious but also filling, generous in portion.
But Chen Lun was no longer a simpleton; with 'Stork Stomach' and 'Surging Badge' doubling up, he ate all that came without refusal, leaving nothing behind.
Fortunately, there was no fish, which he disliked, making the meal exceptionally comfortable.
Lately, Connie hadn't been going to school, busying herself in the manor's warehouse, her appetite quite large as well. The two of them cleared the food on the table, and Floey nodded repeatedly, a look of satisfaction and contentment on her face.
Chen Lun was thinking of ways to help Connie get in touch with the Iris Academy, planning to send her there for further study.
It would be a good time to find Mrs. Ulysses, a professor there.
The 'Mermaid's Song' Hypnosis must have worn off by now, but subconsciously, there should still be an impression and fondness for Chen Lun, only needing another round of hypnosis when the time comes.
"By the way, Floey, I'll be moving to Pompey Manor for a while tomorrow."
After lunch, Chen Lun said as he sipped tea.
Although he was not afraid of the so-called special department investigations, since Viscount Pompey had invited him, he was naturally willing to stay at the manor for a while, which was also more conducive to his search for 'Philip's Legacy.'
Floey was slightly taken aback, while Connie's face showed a curious and gossipy look.
"Mr. Jack, that viscount's manor must be very large, right?
And since you're employed as that viscount's daughter's tutor, could there be any... sparks of love?"
After saying this, Connie immediately realized she sounded like one of those gossiping ladies from the Outer City District, not very ladylike at all.
"Ah... No, no, I didn't mean that."
Her face turned red as she embarrassingly muttered about boiling a kettle of water, then got up and slipped away.
Floey silently cleaned up the dinner plates, and after a while, a ethereal voice softly said:
"Can I move over and live with you? Connie is busy every day, and I'm a bit bored alone."
Chen Lun thought for a moment. In a couple of days, when Connie went to the academy, leaving Floey alone here would indeed be dangerous.
Someone had secretly commissioned an assassin from the Black Knife Brotherhood, and it was uncertain whether they would find his small manor.
"Of course, you can. Then come with me tomorrow."
He nodded and said.
A smile appeared on Floey's face.
...
In a corner of the Inner City District, there was an art studio.
The Great Gate was pushed open, and Baron Barnie strode in with a grim face.
The empty studio held only a young man, who was back to him and immersed in painting.
The walls were covered with bizarre oil paintings, and the area around was scattered with paints and canvases, chaotic with an artistic atmosphere.
But Baron Barnie clearly had no interest in appreciating the art. He walked up behind the young man and said in a deep voice:
"Vigrey, something's gone wrong. The Pompey family didn't die..."
The young man's painting brush paused, then he continued painting without interruption.
Baron Barnie furrowed his eyebrows and took a deep breath.
"I need your help now, Vigrey! A Transcendent has come to the Pompeys', and he's after me. I have to hide and can't show up for the time being."
The young man set down his paintbrush and sighed.
"How many times have I told you not to call me by that name?"
He slowly turned around, looking at Baron Barnie expressionlessly. His brown curly hair fell over his forehead, revealing a pair of indifferent eyes.
"Alright... Mr. Dolly, can you help me now?"
Baron Barnie made a helpless gesture and leaned in to ask.
The young man turned back to his easel, picked up the paintbrush, and outlined a golden-haired girl on the canvas.
"No."
Veins popped on Baron Barnie's forehead.
"Dolly, this is a task assigned to us by the Oil Paint Baron! If you stand by, we will both suffer when the time comes!"
"I know... but don't trouble me because of your incompetence."
The young man pondered for a moment, seemingly contemplating over his painting.
He dabbed some blue paint and added radiance to the golden-haired girl's eyes, ultimately giving her the appearance of Rebecca.
"I have more important things to finish."
"What things?"
Baron Barnie knitted his brows, feeling irritable.
"None of your concern..."
"Dolly!"
The young man ripped the canvas off the easel, and "Rebecca" was severed in two.
He got up, shaking his head.
"This is terrible, absolutely terrible... not even one percent as good as the Oil Paint Baron. Do you think I lack talent in painting, Barnie?"
Looking at the young man talking to himself, Baron Barnie took a deep breath and asked in a serious tone:
"How much time do you need?"
"Give me another week. Once I'm done with my business, I'll come to assist you."
"Fine."
