Kiss Me Not

Chapter 169 - The Runaway Bride

At Lewis's Hospital

Cain was spacing out in his office again as if his mind was wandering somewhere. Kimmy noticed that Cain was having trouble sleeping for two consecutive nights as she could see the dark circles under his eyes every morning.

Those dark circles didn't make him less attractive, however he just looked a little bit tired and stressed out. She wondered what was the reason why he couldn't sleep well at night.

'Is Cain having insomnia?' Kimmy thought to herself, feeling a little bit worried about him.

She had done sorting out some paperwork so she got the opportunity to steal glances at Cain.

After a few seconds, Cain turned to look at her table. He caught Kimmy staring at him. His lips twitched a little, fighting a smile.

With his expressionless front, Cain asked her, "Are you enjoying the view, Kimberly?"

"Cough! Cough!" She choked on her saliva when Cain spoke up.

Kimmy narrowed her eyes at him before looking away. She wanted to hide her blushing face as she didn't expect to be caught by him.

'Enjoying the view my foot. I am just checking if he is just fine.'

When he didn't get any response from Kimmy, Cain asked her to make a coffee for him.

"Kimberly, I want to drink coffee. Can you make one for me?"

Kimmy frowned as she thought about him having insomnia.

"Cain, I think you should avoid drinking coffee and should drink milk instead," Kimmy suggested.

Cain looked at her confusedly. "Why should I avoid drinking coffee? Do I look like a baby to you, that's why you want me to drink milk?"

"Too much caffeine is not good for you. You are having insomnia, aren't you? I noticed that you were having difficulty sleeping lately. Your dark circles under your eyes are the proof." Kimmy reasoned out to him.

Cain: "..."

'I don't have insomnia, Kimberly. I couldn't sleep because of you, silly woman!' Cain lamented to himself.

"So instead of coffee, I will prepare a glass of milk for you," Kimmy said, before standing up to go to his office pantry.

Cain didn't argue further as he just watched Kimmy's back. A silly smile appeared on his handsome face.

"Is she worried about me?" Cain murmured to himself before shaking his head. The smile remained on his face.

After a few minutes, Kimmy came back, holding a glass of milk. She put it down on top of his table.

Kimmy gave him a few tips for his insomnia. "You should exercise regularly to improve your sleep duration. Reduce stress and stop worrying about things when you go to bed. Don't watch TV or listen to music before going to bed. All of these can increase your alertness and make it difficult for you to sleep."

Cain just listened to her with amusement in his eyes. Of course, he knew what to do. He was a doctor after all. But he found it very fascinating since Kimmy was giving him advice like this.

After serving him his drink and giving him a few tips, Kimmy went back to her table. She remembered that she had to deliver some documents to the Admin Office.

Kimmy excused herself from Cain, telling him that she would go out to send the documents she sorted out to the Admin Office.

While she was walking in the hospital hallway and passed by the nurse station, Kimmy noticed that the nurses were giving her a strange look.

She just ignored it and proceeded to the Admin Office. But when she was about to return to Cain's office, she overheard some nurses talking about her.

"Did you hear? The personal assistant of Dr. Lewis is the same woman who he was supposed to marry before."

"Huh? Is that true? She's the runaway bride! No wonder she looks familiar to me."

"Ahuh! So what is she doing here? After the humiliation she caused to the Lewis family and Dr. Cain, she still had the guts to show herself to him."

The nurses seemed unhappy with her presence. They were ridiculing her past actions.

"Honestly, I felt bad for Dr. Cain. He doesn't deserve to be treated that way. If I were the Bride, I would not let go of the opportunity to marry him. Only a fool would choose to run away from him."

"Yeah, I agree. Because of her, Dr. Cain developed a phobia, that's why he lost interest in dating women."

"Gosh. I hate seeing her together with Dr. Cain. I don't know how he can still put up with her."

"But girls, don't you find it strange now that she is working as a personal assistant of Dr. Cain?"

"Huh! Maybe this is one way for her to repent her sin toward Dr. Cain."

"Yeah, it's possible. I wish Dr. Cain will give her a hard time and punish her for what she has done."

"She's also the reason why Dr. Cain's father fell sick."

Kimmy clenched her fists after hearing those words. They were ridiculing her and cursing her. She knew that these nurses had crushes on Cain. They couldn't help but talk bad about her since they hated to see her getting closer to Cain.

The nurses just stopped talking when they noticed her presence. But they were still looking at her with their ridiculing eyes. They didn't hide the displeasure towards Kimmy.

Kimmy stormed out going back to Cain's office. She had to admit that she was affected by those words. She didn't mean to hurt Cain and his family.

She had her reason for doing it. She was just afraid that her marriage would be the same as her parent's marriage. Marriage without love would not work out well. Her mother was unhappy because her father was fooling around with women.

She entered Cain's office with a dark expression on her face. Cain watched her in puzzlement. He wondered why she suddenly looked gloomy. She was just fine a while ago. She didn't even glance in his direction.

'Eh, what's wrong with her? Who makes her upset?'
