Chapter 341:  Information, Connection (1)

Chapter 341:  Information, Connection (1)

Yuan Rihui looked at Yao Ran and explained, "Because of those monsters surrounding the base outside, our business cannot be done, and we need to find a way to transport the goods as soon as possible. Otherwise, we will starve to death or, worse, killed by our clients."

Noticing Yao Ran's interest, Yuan Rihui hesitated before asking, "Miss Yao, when did you arrive?"

"This morning," Yao Ran replied. She paused briefly, then asked, "Why do you suddenly ask about this?"

When Yuan Rihui heard that Yao Ran had arrived that morning, his eyes lit up. He quickly asked, "Miss Yao, how did you get inside with so many monsters surrounding the base?" n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Yao Ran immediately realized what he wanted after listening to his question.

She replied, "Brother Yuan, when we came here this morning, we cleared out more than half of the monsters outside. If you want to leave, you should do it now before more of them gather again."

Yuan Rihui's smile widened at her response. He then said, "Only Miss Yao would be brave enough to do something like that."

Yao Ran chuckled at his flattery and said, "Brother Yuan, given the current situation, you must be running low on supplies, right?"

Hearing this, Yuan Rihui immediately senses an opportunity for profit. Lowering his voice, he asked, "Miss Yao, do you have a deal in mind for me?"

Yao Ran nodded. "Yes."

Getting her confirmation, Yuan Rihui glanced around before saying, "Miss Yao, have you eaten? Why don't we talk this over a meal?"

"Sure," she agreed.

Yuan Rihui then led her to the official market area. After finding a secluded spot to sit, he said, "Please wait here for a moment. I will get some food."

"Alright."

As Yuan Rihui left, Yao Ran observed the market. Besides the stalls run by the base, only one or two were run by survivors.

She didn't have to wait long before Yuan Rihui returned with a package.

Sitting across from her, he opened it and said, "Miss Yao, you are lucky to get a taste of this flatbread today."

Yao Ran looked at the flatbread, which looked hard enough to be used as a weapon and said, "I'm not hungry. Brother Yuan, you should eat it yourself."

Seeing she wasn't interested in the flatbread, Yuan Rihui said, "Then I won't be polite about it."

As Yuan Rihui began eating the hard flatbread, Yao Ran said, "Brother Yuan, I have a stock of fresh meat and grains. Do you want them?"

Yuan Rihui was so surprised by her words that he choked on his flatbread.

"Cough! Cough!"

Seeing he had no water, Yao Ran quickly opened her backpack and handed him a bottle of mineral water.

After gulping down the water to clear his throat, Yuan Rihui looked at her in disbelief. "Miss Yao, you are not joking, are you?"

Yao Ran raised an eyebrow and asked, "Have I ever joked with you when it comes to business?"

Yuan Rihui quickly waved his hands and explained, "Miss Yao, I apologize if my words offended you. I'm just shocked you are selling grains and even fresh meat when people are starving."

After a moment of hesitation, he cautiously asked, "Miss Yao, may I know where you got the fresh meat?"

Yao Ran smiled faintly and asked, "If I asked you the same question, would you answer me?"

Noticing her smile didn't reach her eyes, Yuan Rihui quickly shook his head. He then laughed awkwardly and said, "I was just curious."

Yao Ran snorted and asked, "So, do you want this business or not?"

Having worked with her several times before, Yuan Rihui had already tasted the profits from their transactions. As long as Yao Ran proposes a deal, even if it is difficult to do, he will accept it.

He nodded without hesitation and patted his chest as he said, "Of course. As long as you have the goods, I want them. Miss Yao, do you still want antiques? Some of my clients are willing to trade their antiques for food and medicine."

Yao Ran shook her head and rejected him, "I'm not interested in antiques anymore."

Hearing this, Yuan Rihui's heart sank. He frowned slightly and asked, "If you don't want antiques and clearly have plenty of food and medicine, what do you want?"

Yao Ran smiled and answered, "I want information and your connections."

At her words, Yuan Rihui's eyes flickered with interest and curiosity. He observed her carefully before saying, "Miss Yao, I'm just a small black market dealer. I'm afraid I can't help you with that."

Yao Ran chuckled when he said that. She smiled and said, "Brother Yuan, everyone knows that Boss Ling is the top market dealer in Juncheng City. With your reputation and connections, providing a little information should be easy, right?"

Realizing she knew more than he had anticipated, Yuan Rihui frowned slightly. After a moment of silence, he asked, "How much grain and fresh meat are we talking about?"

"That depends on the quality of the information you can provide," Yao Ran replied calmly.

A silence fell between them as they stared at each other. While Yao Ran waited patiently, Yuan Rihui's mind raced. He lowered his eyes and thought, 'Isn't she only the heir to the Yao Group? Does she have someone powerful backing her? Should I take a risk for this transaction?'

After thinking about it for a long time, Yuan Rihui finally broke the silence. "What information do you need?"

Hearing this question, the corner of Yao Ran's lips curved up slightly. Lowering her voice, she asked, "Do you know about an organization called The Ark?"

At her question, Yuan Rihui's expression changed.

He glanced around cautiously before whispering, "Miss Yao, that organization is dangerous. You shouldn't get involved with them."

Yao Ran's eyes flickered as she asked further. "So you know about them?"

Yuan Rihui nodded, "I know a little. The latest information I've heard is that the central government is now controlled by people connected to The Ark."
