Chapter 350: Official News
Noticing Yao Ran's disappointed look, Yuan Rihui said, "Miss Yao, about the person living in the slum-he actually contacted us a few days ago."Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Yao Ran raised her eyebrows slightly at this and curiously asked, "Why did he reach out to you?"
Yuan Rihui replied, "He was asking about Brother Long's shelter location and the owner's identity. Judging from the questions and information he wanted, it seemed that he planned to join Brother Long's team with his people."
Tapping her fingers lightly on the armchair, Yao Ran fell into deep thought. A few seconds later, a slight smile appeared on the corner of her lips.
Looking at Yuan Rihui, she said, "Brother Yuan, can you help me arrange a meeting with him?"
Yuan Rihui nodded. "Sure. When would you like to meet him?"
"As soon as possible," Yao Ran answered.
Hearing this, Yuan Rihui said, "Alright, I will arrange the meeting immediately after I return."
When he said this, Long Yu walked out of the kitchen. Seeing his girlfriend sitting there, he smiled and asked, "Ran Ran, when did you wake up? I just wanted to go up and wake you up."
Yao Ran turned to look at him and smiled. "I just woke up. What were you doing in the kitchen?"
Knowing she was worried about him cooking something inedible again, Long Yu replied, "I was heating the steamed buns and helping A Xuan prepare the breakfast. Do you want to eat now?"
Yao Ran nodded, then turned to Ling Yi and Yuan Rihui. She asked, "Boss Ling, Brother Yuan, would you like to join us for breakfast?"
Since the fog had appeared, Ling Yi and the others had only been eating compressed biscuits to conserve supplies and barely managed to keep their clients by selling the remaining supplies to them.
Although refusing the invitation was the logical decision given the value of supplies, the sweet smell of the steamed buns in the air made it hard for Ling Yi to say no.
Secretly swallowing his saliva, Ling Yi thickened his face and accepted the invitation.
"Alright. Thank you for the invitation, Miss Yao."
Hearing his elder cousin's response, Yuan Rihui's eyes lit up. Thankfully, his elder cousin had accepted Yao Ran's invitation. Otherwise, he would have been stuck smelling the delicious food and returning to drink water to fill his empty stomach.
Since Ling Yi had accepted the invitation, Yao Ran stood up, held Long Yu's hand, and said, "Then let's eat before the food gets cold."
With that, the four of them headed to the dining room. As they entered, Shi Xuan walked out from the kitchen with a basket of crispy stuffed meat flatbreads.
Placing the basket on the table, Shi Xuan noticed Ling Yi and Yuan Rihui. He greeted them and said, "Brother Ling, Brother Yuan, please have a seat."
Once everyone was seated, Shi Xuan filled their bowls with egg porridge, and they began eating. After finishing their breakfast, Ling Yi and Yuan Rihui called their workers to transport the supplies.
An hour later, one of the workers reported, "Boss, everything has been loaded onto the truck."
Ling Yi nodded, then turned to Yao Ran and Long Yu. He said, "Miss Yao, I will complete your request as soon as possible. With these supplies, there should be no issues for the time
being."
"Alright. I will be waiting for your good news." Yao Ran replied.
After exchanging farewells, Ling Yi and his team left the villa with the supplies.
Once everyone had left, Shi Xuan said, "Captain, Yao Ran, I heard some official news from one of the workers today."
"What news?" Yao Ran asked curiously.
"The trading market in the new city has officially opened to the public. There are two types of stores-official stores and free stalls. Official stores are selling daily necessities and free stalls where the goods depend on the owners," Shi Xuan explained as they walked inside.
Hearing this, Yao Ran's eyes lit up with interest.
In her previous life, she had been too busy scraping together food for Lan Guanghui and his family to visit the trading market properly. On the rare occasion she did go, exhaustion from sleepless nights clouded her judgment and made her lose interest in looking around.
Reflecting on her past life's experience, she sighed inwardly, thinking, 'I was so blind and foolish back then.'
Sensing the shift in her mood, Long Yu held her hand and asked, "Ran Ran, since we don't have anything urgent to do today, how about visiting the trading market? Maybe we will find something good there."
After a moment's thought, Yao Ran nodded. "Mhm. I'm curious about the current value of supplies."
With her agreement, Long Yu turned to Shi Xuan and asked, "A Xuan, will you join us?"
Shi Xuan chuckled and shook his head. "No, you two go ahead. I don't want to be a third
wheel. Besides, I need to start my morning training."
With that, Shi Xuan headed to the third floor, which served as a training area.
Alone with Long Yu, Yao Ran smiled and said, "Let's go."
Before leaving, Yao Ran retrieved their backpacks and weapons from her space. Equipped and ready, they set off toward the trading market in the base's central area.
As they stepped out of the villa, Yao Ran was caught off guard by a sudden gust of dust.
"Cough, cough! Where did all this dust come from?" she asked, coughing.
Long Yu gently patted her back, concern evident in his voice as he asked, "Are you alright?"
Yao Ran nodded, then took out two masks from her space and handed one to him. "Put this on quickly. There is too much dust."
After putting on the masks, they continued their journey.
"The air smells awful," Yao Ran said as she scrunched her nose from the pungent smell in the
air.
"Mhm," Long Yu agreed without changing his expression.
The trading market wasn't far, and they arrived within half an hour. However, as they entered, Yao Ran was overwhelmed by an even worse stench.
