Chapter 2123 The Sea Hunters of Ress

Once considered as the people of Lyro, they have now joined Ress in order not to just survive but to also give a fighting chance for themselves and the families they had to take care of. What was once just a promise that had been made in an effort to capture the hearts of the Lyro refugees to officially turn them into the citizens of Ress, had suddenly become a possibility.

The people of Lyro who had taken up arms for Ress never expected that they were able to see the land of their fallen capital right in front of their eyes. As unconventional as the methods were, this was their current reality.

The King of Ress and his retainers of Pandarians were fighting desperately on the frontlines just so that the ex Lyro citizens were able to at least glimpse at their previous motherland without dying the moment they stepped into the territory.

With this scene etched into their minds, their hearts were filled with eternal gratitude that the King of Ress not only promised to fight back for their lands but also made sure they had the capability to do so independently. Those who were in service within the Lyro military had been given the chance to recreate their regiments while receiving mage training from Ress military instructors.

Upon completing the harshest of trainings by Kraft and other Star Foxes, they took up the mantle of the infamous nickname the Sea Hunters and was considered as the undying regiment in Lyro Military.

The Sea Hunters were the first to be dispatched into Lyro's battlefield once Jin had given the go ahead for the System to open the portals to let the Sea Hunters to enter. However, unlike the part where the reinforcements were supposed to aid the current group, the Sea Hunters had another objective.

Those Vampiric Werewolves were not the actual threat that caused the fall of Lyro as the System had updated the Sea Hunters about the situation that Jin and the Pandarians were in. It was then the Captain of the Sea Hunters, Sir Alan, had explained that they were not the enemies the Sea Hunters were looking for.

"I believe I know where they are hiding." Sir Alan said and the rest of the Sea Hunters stood beside him with full support. There was no need for them to question him because he was a retired knight of the actual bona fide Sea Hunters who had protected their kingdom previously. The fact that he was with the refugees was a favour by the active Sea Hunters in the past.

And with this opportunity to get the Sea Hunters to earn back Lyro, Sir Alan had challenged himself to learn this new magecraft that Ress had developed, and never did he realise that it had improved his abilities by many folds. Now he understood why the Demons could never stand a chance against the Ress Mages even though the people who joined were mere recruits.

The training was more than intense. It was harsher even by Sea Hunters' standard and they were considered to be a specialised force but Sir Alan could not understand was how Jin and the others were able to keep the recruits' sanity levels in check and this depth of perseverance in completing the course. Even Sir Alan himself felt that he was able to clear the training when his body was saying no.

Regardless, the System and Jin had decided to let Sir Alan take the lead to find this 'monster' that he spoke of and since the Sea Hunters supported him fully, the moment the System opened their portals, only the Sea Hunters diverted from the plan of reinforcing Jin and the Pandarians.

The rest of the Rifle Mages despite consisting of ex Lyro citizens stayed to keep the Vampiric Werewolves and the rest of their minions from disturbing the Sea Hunters.

As for Sir Alan, he and the Sea Hunters literally went in the direction of the Sea which all of the people of Lyro had learned the hard way that the actual Demons came from the depths of the Sea. With just a burst of mana aura as bait, Sir Alan and the other Sea Hunters stay at a distance away from the Sea in hopes that the Sky is their means of escape.

True enough, that burst of mana was sufficient in luring the actual demons that Sir Alan was waiting for. It looked like a literal pair of sea serpents intertwined like a rope came swimming out of the sea's surface. The Sea Hunters were already prepared for this and started shooting at it. The pair of sea serpents did not disconnect or untwined themselves but instead combined their magical powers to release a beam of icicle energies to the sky to eliminate the threat.

Unfortunately, it was ineffective as the Sea Hunter Mages were well versed in evading such attacks and continued their barrage of explosive shots against the pair of sea serpents. It was then another pair emerged and the pattern continued until eight pairs of such serpents appeared above water.

"Looks like King's Jin theory was right when I discussed him casually with a story…" Sir Alan spoke to himself as he saw those serpents continuously breathe ice beams out of their twisted mouth. When Sir Alan told him about how those pairs of serpents came out of the sea and terrorise the capital of Lyro, Jin asked back a single question.

"Have you ever seen their tails?"

This was more than sufficient for the old Sir Alan to ponder and it seems like the King of Ress was right on his explanation. Just as time passed and those eight pairs of sea serpents were still able to coordinate without any other serpents emerging, Sir Alan commanded his sea hunters to begin to use the scrolls that they were given.

Immediately, the scrolls once activated threw out a huge line of metal chain out from its fragile parchment of paper. It was nothing to the intertwined sea serpents if it was just one metal chain but tens of such chains came flying toward them became an issue.

"And now to complete our theory…" Sir Alan said as he revealed another set of scrolls which would be the centrepiece of the plan now that the chains had been placed.
