Paragon of Death

Chapter 91

91 Chapter 90: Sol

Damon stood calmly as his aura and that of the silver knight clashed dangerously. Only after this enemy started taking him seriously did Damon realize his enemy was also a warrior realm expert like him. Maybe he has stayed in the realm longer than Damon but that didn’t mean anything to Damon. In his opinion, outside the fact that the silver knight’s technique was far better than his, but the main source of his strength lies in the silver armor set to start with.

Damon could feel it. Energy gathered around like a tidal wave, surging into the magic gear. Without being told, Damon could always tell the main source of his power and protection relied on the armor, or should I say the silver knight depended on his magic gear.

Unfortunately, things like this are too expensive even for the Ross family to acquire. Right now, he hasn’t even acquired a Grimoire, talk less of acquiring something more!

‘This will just have to do’ Damon muttered in his head as he considered the next train of action

The two stood, surrounded by energy swords and wolves as they prepared for what may be called the final phase of their battle.

Xiu!

Suddenly a silver magic array appeared in between the two and arch mage Kratos appeared. His eyes seemed apologetic as he appeared to gaze at Damon who stood without a hand. His eyes seemed to carry a massive sense of guilt as he gazed at Damon.

“That will be enough for now, put away your spells” Arch mage Kratos said.

His appearance made Damon inwardly heave a sigh

.....

of relief but that changed when he realized these words were meant for the enemy he frowned at.

Doesn’t that mean that the silver knight was sent by them?

“What’s going on?” Damon asked as he held onto his bleeding wound with knitted eyebrows.

As soon as he was done saying those words, his vision got blurry and he instantly collapsed. Only then did everyone notice he was standing in a pool of his blood. Thanks to the silver weapons, his werewolf healing ability was gone, allowing his wounds to bleed freely.

It was to be expected that this much would happen.

......................

Damon found himself drowning in the darkness of his mind. Down the darkness he could see countless eyes gazing at him, sending shivers down his spine. He could tell these were the souls that he has consumed so far.

“I guess even in death, death mages can never know peace... quite fitting for those people with diabolical power” Damon muttered in a low tone as if to say he had accepted his fate.

Right now he wasn’t concerned by the question if he would survive this or not, instead, he felt irritated by the small light above him shining down on him. It was the only light in the room.

“I guess this means there is still redemption for me. I am not yet dead” Damon said calmly but then he felt an arm grab his shoulder and a melodious voice echoed in his ear.

“It is death, you should be seeking now and not life” The voice made Damon shiver, and immediately he turned to see the owner.

Normally, he was expecting to see death but now he saw someone different. It was a young man in his mid-twenties at most with fair beautiful skin, dressed in the best of robes and a bright smile, revealing a clean set of white teeth.

As more was said about it, Damon frowned. Who the hell is this and how did this normal looking man enter his peaceful environment?

“I know you must be confused about my identity and how I got here. Don’t worry I have plans of explaining everything to you. I am Sol. The first death mage to have ever been born and selected by the world... As for why am I here, it’s because you need me here, or you may end up dying like the rest of us” Sol explained and Damon frowned.

This was the first time he was hearing this sort of bullshit explanation but given everything he has seen in just six months, Damon wasn’t too shocked anymore. He had already inwardly accepted any crazy explanation that may be given to him.

Even if this man were to say he was his father in his previous life, he wouldn’t be too shocked. His eyes revealed a bit of confusion at the man’s words as he wondered why it was relevant to know why all of them died.

But by us, doesn’t he mean all death mages were killed for the same reason?

“What do you mean?” Damon couldn’t help but ask but this time with furrowed eyebrows. The words of the young man were enough to catch his attention.

Whoosh!

Suddenly Damon began plunging deeper into the darkness and the light above got thinner.

Bang!

The next moment, Damon found himself In an empty space with countless twinkling stars. His eyes turned to the figure whose eyes seemed to be gazing coldly at a particular planet surrounded by the moon, sun, and stars.

“That is our world?” Damon asked. He knew little about astrology, but he knew enough to be aware of the basics.

As if responding to his words, Sol gave a firm nod as the look in his eyes deepened.

“The God’s vein is our planet, meant to create new gods. The appearance of a new god vein signifies the rejection of the old gods by the universe, so it creates a planet capable of nurturing new gods.” Sol said with a stern look.

“Guardian spirits represent every position available amongst the seat of the new gods and the hosts are the new god candidates. We are beings selected by the world to rule and protect what has been created, unfortunately, there are two existences which we must not ignore. They are the ones responsible for the deaths of all the hosts ever born in this world. I was their first victim” Sol said, leaving Damon terribly shocked. He wanted to speak but Sol continued his explanation, not giving him the chance.

Sol waved his hand and the scene vanished and was replaced with six individuals including Sol, standing head to head against twelve beings as well. Before Damon got the chance to speak a fierce battle erupted between them which will forever be recorded amongst the records of history!

The battle lasted for years and even up to a decade but in the end, Sol and his allies were put down. With that, the first set of new gods was killed!

“This....” Damon said with a deep frown on his face.

The techniques of the enemy, the fighting style, and the abilities, they were all unique. Each of them was slightly inferior to the new gods in one way or another but they somehow managed to win with their numbers advantage. It was clear these people were not normal cultivators to start with.

“That was our battle against the combined forces of the old gods and the cosmic beings who refused to be replaced... We fought hard and we gave it our all but we were overpowered... it couldn’t be helped, we were only demigods at the time, going against twelve true gods...” Sol said with a bitter smile

Buzzz!

Damon’s head seemed to have exploded with a loud bang as he tried to assimilate the information he just received. He has never experienced what it means to be a demigod or a true God but the thought of six demigods forced to fight twelve true gods. For something like this to happen, the situation must have been really dire! His eyes shivered as he considered something and looked at the death mage amongst them.

Separate from the Sol he could see now, that death mage had terribly pale skin with black lips, nails, and black hair. His eyes were blood red and he had three pairs of black angelic wings.

Gazing at that figure you would never admit that the man standing next to him actually became that due to the death magic.

“Speak...” Damon finally responded.

He had no more reservations or hidden thoughts against this man. His face seemed calm and his mind open. He really wanted to know what he had been chosen for.

“The old gods and cosmic beings refused to be forgotten. They refused to let their roles be washed away and be replaced by the younger blood so they attacked the God’s vein. We were only demigods then but we fought back and after a decade we finally lost and ended up dying...

With our deaths, the new gods finally positioned themselves in the place of power in this god vein. The God vein is alive and can tell what was happening, so it prevented them from harnessing its energy and resources meant to be used to build up the new gods... to tackle this problem, the old gods began putting their soul imprints on the souls of all beings born into this world. They watch you all gain strength and after one’s death, with the soul imprints of the gods, their accumulated cultivated soul is harvested by the old gods and used to nourish their souls...”
