Rise Of The Hoarder

Chapter 217 Overgeared (Pt 1)

Overgeared—a term widely known in games where items determine one’s survival.

While many people focus on raising their Levels and Stats, others depend on finding good gear to support themselves.

There are a few, though, who obtain so much gear and use them in such ways that only the word above can be used to describe them!

Overpowered by Gear… Overgeared!

I checked my [Subspace] for the spoils of the war I hadn’t even fought yet.

The slots were chock-full of so much equipment that I nearly lost my breath. I counted the number of gear I got from the monsters and counted over twenty.

Twenty-nine Grade 2 treasures to be exact!

I doubted any normal person would have a single Grade 2 Treasure, except for a few beasts of whom I was already aware. Still, none existed in this area.

Usually, a party of top Gifteds would be the ones to challenge and conquer this Horde, after many sacrifices. Those who emerged victorious would split the spoils among themselves.

However, since I was the only one this time around… being able to keep so much good gear for myself was amazing!

The [System Alert] and multiple errors rang in my ear, but I ignored them. The Gate a couple of distance from me also buzzed, like electricity going haywire, but I paid it no heed too.

My assessment was more important..

“Hmmm… I’ll have to check out their information…” I muttered.

Using <Summon>, I brought out the gear to check out their properties, and I noticed a problem…

“Just as I thought… this will be a challenge.”

… Their size!

Yes, each and every one of the gears I took out was monstrously large. The massive heap of twenty-nine incredibly big equipment lay before me… all unfit for use.

They were built for Hobgoblin Chiefs and the King, after all. None of their outfits could fit my small stature, and their weapons were certainly too big to be wielded properly.

‘This is quite a challenge…’

Usually, after defeating a Demon of Grade 2 and above, which dropped items, the System would reconfigure their drops to ensure the size matched any Gifted who would use them.

But, such reconfiguration was impossible since I hadn’t defeated the Demons yet.

‘So much for being overgeared, uh?’ I mumbled in disappointment.

However, as soon as I thought this, another thought sparked in my head which caused me not to lose hope. If I was right, then it could work perfectly!

Still, I had to figure out the goodies I obtained, didn’t I?

Looking at the list, I was giddy with excitement. But, instead of focusing on all of them, my eyes went to the few I could actually use at the moment.

The plan would be to use only weapons that could directly attack and leave out the ones that could be worn.

Since I would still be able to launch offensive gear at the enemy, they were useful in this instance. Gears that required direct equipping were the ones I had to leave out of the fight.

After making my list, I came up with a couple of useful gear in the coming battle—The Hobgoblin Chief’s Daggers, Battle Ax, Great Sword—Gauntlets could deal blunt attacks too, so I added them. As for the Hobgoblin King’s equipment, the Scepter and Blade were the only things I could use to directly deal damage.

“Wait, I can use the wand too… I’ll just summon it and use it to fire whatever I can… depending on its effects. I’m certain it’s to conjure some kind of magic and boost magic use…”

Making my decision, I selected on my arsenal, but still checked the effects of everything to be certain of their use.

I was amazed by their properties. Apparently, the Crown boosted intelligence, making the Hobgoblin King capable of controlling so many Hobs at once.

The offensive stats of each of the Chief’s weapons were similar to the one I defeated previously, and their items gave identical effects to the Attire I received earlier. Ranging from increased attack power to defensive properties, to agility boosting, to magic increment, everything was spot-on good!

But, the real balance breakers were the gear of the Hobgoblin King. Looking at them made me grateful for not facing them all with their equipment on.

Not only did the pieces of equipment increase its HP, but they also gave it all sorts of resistances and boosts. The defensive properties of all the gear combines made my current Hobgoblin Chief’s Attire look like a joke.

“Amazing!” I had to yell out, beaming with excitement.

I couldn’t wait before I truly made all of these items mine.

Other than the equipment I brought out, I still possessed three of the Hobgoblin King’s Javelins and the throne it sat on. I wasn’t sure the latter had any special effects, but since it was good enough to support the king’s weight, it had to be sturdy enough for a foothold.

‘Maybe I could use it as I did with my Deep Freezer back then…’ My thoughts trailed as I remembered the good old times.

Since I was uncertain about the effects of the other items, it was best I brought them out too. I didn’t want to miss anything out of carelessness.
