Summoned and Unwanted

Chapter 659

659 The synergy between bonds

Vincent gazed calmly at the situation in front of him. He could better comprehend the situation around him as if his senses were spread to perceive what was around him.

Primal Insight gave a similar feeling as to when Vincent had above one hundred and fifty perception stat points. Yet it gave Vincent the impression of feeling far more potent than the perception stat could provide.

Vincent could now understand why he heard how Lupa could use her keen senses and her animal instincts to guess where Vlad was going to appear next roughly.

However, the obvious flaw of Primal Insight was speed. Seeing was far different than reacting.

Primal Insight apparently increased the animal instincts and the senses. Vincent felt strange because he was not an animal, yet he currently wasn’t entirely human either.

Strangely, Primal Insight was compatible with Vincent’s current state. Yet he wasn’t reaping all the benefits with the fifteen percent potency version.

Vincent’s senses greatly increased, and his mind became calmer, allowing him to do as he set out to do.

While Vincent’s eyes were barely taking a toll, his reaction time didn’t increase enough to experience his soundings becoming slower. He could only react quicker because his mind stopped thinking unnecessary thoughts.

Vincent closed his eyes. His hearing sharpened, and he could hear the slow heartbeat of Awa and the tiny heartbeat of little Plow from inside the cage of tendrils.

.....

“They are still safe.” Vincent opened his eyes and exhaled a puff of green steam.

Vincent clenched his fists and sprang forward. He glanced at the snow tiger being attacked by the Cefeyes. He noticed the snow tiger’s eyes move onto him while attacking and killing the Cefeyes like ants.

Because his mind was calm, Vincent didn’t second doubt who he had to save first. Vincent was able to quickly prioritize who to save first without suffering from emotions such as guilt.

Before Vincent passed the Cefeyes, he moved his hand as if throwing something. Green light taking the form of a large object, landed beside the female Cefeye. A shield appeared after the materialization was complete.

The female Cefeye glanced at Vincent while he headed toward the approximately six-foot-tall snow wolf. She screeched an order, and one of the male Cefeye grabbed the shield to protect their leader.

The snow wolf loudly roared to challenge and intimidate the quickly approaching Vincent. However, it soon realized it was all for naught.

Vincent gained more speed the more he ran. No matter how much malice the snow wolf directed toward Vincent, he ran without faltering.

The snow wolf growled while revealing its sharp fangs. It patently waited for Vincent to approach biting range, but a thing the snow wolf didn’t expect transpired.

Vincent lowered to prepare to jump before a sudden explosion occurred underneath his feet. A cloud of snow made Vincent disappear from the snow wolf’s view.

The snow wolf moved its gaze left and right quickly. As the snow fell to the ground, the snow wolf started to panic. Vincent’s presence suddenly disappeared. Or, more accurately, the snow wolf couldn’t feel Vincent’s bloodlust anymore.

While the snow wolf was experiencing how prey felt to be hunted by a predator, the snow wolf noticed a green trail of light heading upwards because of the darkness.

Vincent’s position was discovered, but the snow wolf was too late to counterattack. After sensing danger, the snow wolf hastily jumped back.

*Bam* Vincent landed a moment later, missing the snow wolf by a few inches. Vincent didn’t falter as if he was one step ahead.

Vincent swiftly regained his composure. He said, “Taste my Enhanced Magic Bullet.” while flicking his finger and shooting bullets of condensed mana much faster than before.

Right before Vincent flicked his finger, a tiny wind sigil appeared. It pushed the mana bullet with more speed. Furthermore, this move was working in complete harmony.

The snow wolf tried to retaliate, but the more it tried to decide on what to do, the more the large wolf’s body was covered by multiple scratches. A few lucky hits left deep scratches, almost becoming lacerations.

The snow wolf understood one thing while Vincent approached it. The large body would become greatly weakened the next time Vincent pulled another disappearing act.

The snow wolf looked viciously at Vincent. It angrily exhaled and started running sideways to use its speed against Vincent, or so the snow wolf hoped.

[Tsk. This damn huge wolf is planning to run in circles. I think it is attempting to catch you off guard while the snow tiger kills the last of the Cefeye and later attacks when we least expect it.]

“I do not have time to play silly games. Time is critical.” Vincent said.

Under his feet gradually shone a bright light. It was caused by the multiple tiny wind sigils Vincent was creating.

Previously, Vincent tried this trick on a very small scale, and it worked. Before he jumped and disappeared from the snow wolf’s view, he used one tiny wind sigil at his heel to boost his elevation and create a small cloud of snow.

Vincent was doomed to fail and injure his feet, similar to how Sigil Mages injure themselves. However, his mind was clear of any unnecessary thoughts or negativity.

Vincent took the risk by combining his and Ester’s power into one. If Ester could negate her magic damage because of her immunity skill, Vincent wanted to try absorbing the magic damage with his Overflow skill.

Surprisingly, Vincent’s idea worked better than he expected. Not only Vincent felt a tap where the wind sigil impact occurred, but enough mana was absorbed to leave the shoes undamaged.

Overflow was acting similarly to Ester’s self-magic immunity. However, both were different at the same time.

Vincent’s version with the potency of the tiny fifteen percent powered wind sigils was reduced by half. The side left untouched would deal damage while being hindered from Overflow’s absorption.

Vincent could absorb a portion of the wind sigils mana and practically nullify any mana damage caused in one direction. The mana being absorbed would be recycled into the gauntlets, allowing the mana Vincent uses to charge up his gauntlets.

Vincent used the dozens of tiny wind sigils to burst forward with great speed toward the snow wolf.

When Vincent keenly grasped the distance between the two of them was enough to land a hit, he extended his arm and grabbed the snow wolf’s tail.

A smirk appeared on Vincent’s face as he pulled the tail with all his strength, causing the snow wolf’s feet to slip on the snow when its body was suddenly pulled backward.

The snow wolf became angry its tail was in Vincent’s grip. It opened its jaws and rushed its head to bite Vincent in retaliation. But it was futile to resist.

A powerful punch landed on the snow wolf’s face. All the mana gathered inside the striking gauntlet activated and caused a powerful additional impact.

*Crack* The skull made a crunching sound before being knocked in the opposite direction from the impact. The snow wolf’s eyes became hazy after becoming disoriented and unsteady.

*Tsk* Vincent clicked his tongue. He swiftly swung his other fist upwards and delivered a devastating uppercut.

The snow wolf lifted from the ground from the powerful impact and fell on its back with a loud thud. Vincent’s eyes flashed for a moment while quickly inspecting the snow wolf’s status.

Vincent felt relieved the snow wolf’s status appeared as a corpse. He swiftly tapped on the corpse while using soul Dimensional Storage.

As the large snow wolf’s body gradually became covered with green light, Zero felt the threat of the snow wolf was gone.

Zero moved a few of the tendrils to peek at Vincent. While Zero was seeing Vincent, Plow and Awa also saw Vincent.

Plow became happy the snow wolf was dead, while Awa could not understand how the large body of the snow wolf had become green and dematerialized into tiny particles entering Vincent’s body.

[Vincent. You have thirty seconds remaining.]

[You better defeat the snow tiger before the time ends. It would suck to use Soul Rest and waste twenty Soul Power.]

Vincent nodded. He hated the idea of wasting Soul Power now that he didn’t have much.

Vincent moved his gaze to the snow tiger. He saw a large white tiger standing on gore and dead Cefeyes. In front of it were four shivering Cefeyes. One was the female Cefeye, one was a male Cefeye holding a damaged shield, and the rest were male Cefeyes holding hair needles.

The snow tiger ignored the Cefeye as if they were ants and glared at Vincent as if he did something he should not have done.

The snow tiger growled at Vincent while contorting its face from seething anger, giving the impression of the desire for revenge. The snow tiger and the snow wolf appeared to be close, as Kazumi guessed. They were possibly locked together and had learned to cooperate.

One second of stillness passed. That is how long they stared at each other before jumping forward at the same time.

The snow tiger jumped with all its might while Vincent jumped with the tiny wind sigil, boosting his elevation.

The snow tiger aimed for Vincent’s head, and upon entering, both entered striking distance. The snow tiger moved first. Its jaws closed, and the sharp fangs bit Vincent’s head.

*Thud* The two landed on the ground, but no blood was spilled.

The snow tiger soon realized why the bitten head was harder than metal. Instead of biting Vincent’s head, the snow tiger had bitten his very difficult-to-break gauntlet.
