Chapter 93: Chapter 93 Blue Tree Sea

Lin Shen had no idea how powerful Ye Yuzhen’s background really was. It was beyond anyone’s normal expectation that somebody inside the Yashen Base could stand against an Ascender.

If he had known that when Ye Yuzhen claimed she was from a wealthy family, there was not even a hint of exaggeration, that she truly came from an ultra-powerful family capable of dealing with Ascenders, he would not have left the Ye Family for anything, not even if it meant breaking his legs.

With such a powerful backer to rely on, who would want to risk their life running around outside!

After leaving the Yashen Base, Lin Shen and Wei Wufu didn’t head towards the Dark Bird Base.

They knew they couldn’t outrun an Ascender, not even with a Crystal Base mount.

Running back to the Dark Bird Base now would only bring trouble to the entire Lin Family, and it might even lead the Zheng Family’s Ascender to discover the secrets of the Dark Bird.

So, from the start, the two of them had been running towards the Blue Tree Sea.

“Wei, do you really think that Ascender can catch up to us? He won’t think we’ve run back home and go to the Dark Bird Base to search for us, right?” Lin Shen said, looking around the Steel Forest with some worry.

“Don’t worry, he can catch up,” Wei Wufu said with a resolute gaze.

He knew much more about Ascenders than Lin Shen did, so if he said the Ascender could catch up, Lin Shen felt relieved.

“Wei, how about this: we’ll split up once we get there. I’ll run to the Blue Tree Sea and lure them away. You go back to the Dark Bird Base and tell my elder sister to find somewhere to hide first,” Lin Shen suggested after thinking for a bit.

“There’s no use; we won’t make it in time,” Wei Wufu shook his head.

“Whether it’s useless or not, we have to try. I can’t gamble that after killing me, he won’t go to the Dark Bird Base,” Lin Shen said.

Wei Wufu stared at Lin Shen for a long while and then, with a fiery look in his eyes, gazed into the depths of the Steel Forest and said, “Let’s take a gamble; maybe there’s a sliver of a chance.”

“Where’s the chance?” Lin Shen asked, noticing that Wei Wufu was speaking much more fluently than before.

“Blue Tree Sea, Mutation Point, Primeval Eggs, me, Crystal Base,” Wei Wufu explained, swinging his trident, effortlessly sending a Mushroom Beast that had leaped at them flying.

The number of Mushroom Beasts ahead was increasing. Although they were all Red-Cap Mushroom Beasts, the quantities were staggering, with groups of ten or twenty roaming together everywhere.

“If you wanted to advance to Crystal Base sooner, you should’ve told me. We have a Mutant Sea Demon God, you could use that for your Ascension,” Lin Shen said, not understanding what Wei Wufu meant.

“No time, Primeval Eggs, quickly,” Wei Wufu said, his trident moving in broad sweeps that the Mushroom Beasts couldn’t get close to.

The Red Jade Lion kept running, breaking through swarms of mushrooms.

They had no time to waste; they needed to reach the Blue Tree Sea before the Zheng Family’s Ascender found them.

“The Blue Tree Sea is so dangerous now, we might not be able to break through. Even if we could, it’s not certain we’d find the Primeval Eggs. And even if you did find them and succeeded in your Ascension, do you really think a newly Ascended Crystal Base can defeat an Ascender?” Lin Shen sighed and said, “Let’s stick with my plan. I’ll lead them away, and you go back to the Dark Bird Base to inform my elder sister.”

“Let’s try,” Wei Wufu ignored him and continued to charge towards the Blue Tree Sea, in sync with the Red Jade Lion.

“We’re still so far from the edge of the Blue Tree Sea, and there are already so many Mushroom Beasts. The success rate of your plan is too low,” Lin Shen said, a bit exasperated.

Wei Wufu stopped talking and focused on waving his trident, clearing away the Mushroom Beasts that were leaping towards them.

These Steel-Level Mushroom Beasts posed no threat to them, and so neither Lin Shen nor Wei Wufu had to use their Base Mutation powers.

The Red Jade Lion ignored the bites of the Red-Cap Mushroom Beasts, running swiftly and jumping, even stepping on the bodies of beasts to rush forward.

Eventually, they saw it—the Steel Forest that looked like a sea, resplendent and blue: the legendary Blue Tree Sea.

The Red Jade Lion did not hesitate and charged into the Blue Tree Sea. After entering the Blue Tree Sea, Lin Shen and Wei Wufu noticed that there were actually fewer Mushroom Beasts here than outside.

“Strange, wasn’t it said that the source of the Mushroom Beasts was the Blue Tree Sea? Why are there fewer of them here?” Lin Shen looked around, finding it difficult to spot any Mushroom Beasts among the steel blue trees.

Just as Lin Shen was puzzled, he suddenly saw a dark figure standing atop a huge blue tree far away, staring at them coldly.

If it weren’t for the figure’s chibi stature, Lin Shen and Wei Wufu might have mistaken it for a black-clad swordsman wearing a conical hat.

As a unique existence among the Mushroom Beasts, Lin Shen recognized the Black-Capped Mushroom Beast at a glance.

“Something’s not right, that guy seems off.” As they drew closer, Lin Shen noticed that the Black-Capped Mushroom Beast standing on the treetop had a body that appeared different from before.

Where it had been pitch-black metal before, it was now a luminous, translucent black, as if carved from black crystal.

“It has actually ascended to Crystal Base!” Lin Shen felt a headache coming on.

A Black-Capped Mushroom Beast at the Alloy Level had already been troublesome enough, but now that it had ascended to Crystal Base, the threat was even greater.

Lin Shen had originally thought that with the Crystal Base Level Red Jade Lion, they could at least make the Black-Capped Mushroom Beast wary, but it seemed he had been too optimistic.

The Black-Capped Mushroom Beast remained unmoving on the treetop, staring at them coldly. Lin Shen could even see the sneer and mockery at the corner of its mouth.

Boom!

The ground shook as if hit by an earthquake, and then they saw Blue-Cap Mushroom Beasts rising from the ground, surrounding Lin Shen and the others from all sides.

“Crap, why are there so many Alloy Level Blue-Cap Mushroom Beasts?” As Lin Shen saw the massive figures emerging around them in the Blue Tree Sea, he was shocked by their number, which must have surpassed a hundred.

Last time, he had only encountered two Blue-Cap Mushroom Beasts, but this time, a hundred had appeared all at once. These creatures were reproducing way too quickly.

“Base Mutation.” Wei Wufu was already using his Mutation Power as he spoke, his body enveloped in purple carapace.

Without any hesitation, Lin Shen also activated his Mutation Power, and his mirrored steel carapace transformed into armor to protect his body.

Both of them understood that a fierce battle was inevitable. If they failed to break out soon, they would be trapped by the swarm of Blue-Cap Mushroom Beasts, even with the Crystal Base mount.

The Red Jade Lion could fight continuously, but their Base Mutation power couldn’t be used indefinitely. Once their strength was overly depleted and they couldn’t maintain the Mutation State, they would be highly vulnerable without the metallic carapace’s protection and would struggle to survive amidst the horde of beasts.

Moreover, with the Crystal Base Level Black-Capped Mushroom Beast lurking nearby with its menacing stare, they had enough trouble with just that one creature.

To make matters worse, they were being pursued by deadly Ascenders—it was truly a case of being caught between a rock and a hard place.

Just as they were preparing to desperately fight their way out through the Blue-Cap Mushroom Beasts, a red streak of lightning suddenly crossed the sky.

Flashes of red light streaked across the Blue Tree Sea, leaving behind a trail of red afterimages.

In an instant, all the Blue-Cap Mushroom Beasts ceased moving, as if they had been struck by acupoint sealing.

Boom!

The next second, Lin Shen and Wei Wufu saw the heads of all the Blue-Cap Mushroom Beasts simultaneously burst open. The creatures fell thunderously, none spared. The ground trembled, steel branches rattled, and dust rose up into the air.

Two figures arrived, breaking through the air as if they were celestial beings. One of them was none other than Zheng Yan, whom Lin Shen and Wei Wufu were very familiar with.
