The Blue Eyes

Chapter 56 - THE DECISION

Blue. The one-week period had run out, putting her in a position where she was being judged once again.

The young girl stood in front of the humble hut where the leader of the werewolves lived. She was standing in the midst of the werewolves who were now coiling her. Blue was now like a little bird caged in a cage. She had absolutely no chance to escape because the werewolves were encircling her.

Blue's eyes stared at the creatures that were standing in a circle. Men, women, old, young, all stood looking at her with a stern expression.

Blue just realized that the mysterious man, who had bullied her six days ago, was not there. She thought the mysterious man would be there because today was the day she would tell them her decision, but she was wrong.

The man's absence allowed Blue to breathe a sigh of relief. She was completely intimidated by him six days ago. She certainly still remembered the man's words back then.

The werewolf creator, he said? Was the old man telling the truth? Blue herself never knew the origin of werewolves. Was it true that they were created by a human?

"So, what's your decision, Blue?" The werewolf leader asked, enough to obstruct Blue from thinking further about the incident that happened six days ago.

The girl stared at Mike. Her blue eyes were confident as if they weren't afraid of the leader's gaze. "I don't want to join you," answered the young girl.

Yes, she had made up her mind. She had been pondering about it for days and finally, that was the decision she made. She had thought for a long time, and she realized that the werewolves were dangerous creatures and she shouldn't join them.

Blue did have a cold character, but she still had a conscience. Even though she knew that she was a werewolf, she believed she could be a good werewolf. Moreover, if she could wait patiently, she believed that Kevin and other scientists would find an antidote that could turn her back into a human.

All of that thought eventually led Blue to resolutely decide not to accept the werewolf leader's offer.

The answer inevitably brought a chaotic atmosphere among the werewolves. Mike and Jack didn't join in the rattle, though. They just continued to stare at Blue with intimidating gazes.

"Tell me what's the reason you refused to join us," said the leader again.

Blue gave a quick sneer and replied, "I just don't feel the need to join you."

The answer seemed to irritate Mike. The leader clenched his fists as he replied, "Do you know the consequences if you refused to join us?"

This time, Blue was silent. She was silent because she didn't know what consequences she would have in the future due to her refusal.

"Jack, take some chains and tie this kid with the chains," Mike suddenly gave an order, and Jack immediately left the place to carry out the order given by his leader.

Blue's blue eyes suddenly rounded at Mike's command. "You're going to keep me here by force?" She asked in a slight alarm.

Her panic intensified after she saw Jack return to the place with several big and strong chains in hand. The girl swallowed nervously at the thought of what it would be like to have her body tied up with the chain.

Laughter rang out, and it was Mike's. Blue turned back to Mike and her blue eyes could see how the old man was laughing triumphantly.

"Of course," Mike said between his laughter. "You think you can get away from here just because you said you didn't want to join us? Whatever your decision, you still have to be here and join us," he added in an inviolable tone.

Blue panicked. She panicked even more when she saw Jack walking toward her with big chains in hand.

"Wait!" Blue shouted. "Do you think you can hold me with those chains? Have you forgotten that I also have power? Isn't my power greater than yours? Aren't you afraid if I go on a rampage and finish all of you?" She asked at length, showing a defiant look even though she wasn't sure whether what she was saying was true or not.

Jack's movements halted after hearing Blue's words. The tattooed young man then turned to look at Mike, waiting for further instructions from the leader.

Instead of being terrified by Blue's threats, Mike smirked at the girl. "You think I'm scared? It's been a week since you've been here, but the power hasn't shown up yet. And, even if the power appears, maybe you won't be able to control it. It may hurt yourself," said the leader.

Blue clenched her fists angrily, but she couldn't do anything about it when Jack began to put the chain around her. First, Jack tied her hands with the chain, then her feet also received the same treatment. Not only that but her entire body was also tied with chains as if they deliberately wanted to hold her if her power appeared at any time.

Blue struggled, but Jack's strength was so much greater than her. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Mike smirking evilly. She felt a growing dislike for the old man.

After a few minutes, Jack was finally done with his task and returned to his original position beside the werewolf leader. Blue's body was completely bound by the chains, and she couldn't move at all.

"Jack, take her back to her hut. After that, carry out my next orders," Mike returned to give instructions to his trusted subordinate.

Jack nodded, then walked back to Blue and immediately lifted the blue-eyed girl's small body. Without any difficulty, he put Blue's body on his right shoulder and walked away from the crowd of werewolves. Blue continued to struggle, but it was fruitless because her body couldn't move at all.

Not long after, Jack and Blue arrived at the hut that had been Blue's humble residence for the past week. There was a small bed there, and Jack put Blue on top of it.

"So, you guys really force me to do it? You even did this to me?" Blue asked Jack angrily, who was staring at her from the side of the bed.

"If you didn't refuse us, we would treat you well," replied Jack.

Blue smiled scornfully at the werewolf's words. "Do you also want immortality from me, Jack? What are you going to do with immortality?" She asked sarcastically. Even though Jack was Kevin's age, she didn't want to be polite to him.

Jack did not immediately answer the young girl's question. He actually seemed busy thinking who knows what.

"Why are you all so crazy about immortality and unrivaled power? Don't you guys want to have a normal life?" Blue asked again because there was no sign that Jack would answer her previous question.

"Do you think werewolves like us can live normally? We can only live normally after mankind has perished, so of course, we need immortality and unrivaled power," the burly young man finally answered.

"And, you think that's the only way for you guys to live normally?" Blue asked again. "Although I'm not too sure yet, it seems that werewolves aren't creatures that are formed from natural mutations. It looks like werewolves have undergone an artificial mutation so that you become what you are now. If I guessed it right, weren't werewolves originally humans?"

The question Blue was asking was based on the words of the mysterious man she had met six days ago. Although the man did not say everything clearly, in general, she could conclude that werewolves were deliberately created by humans, for whatever purpose.

"You don't need to know our origins," Jack replied with a hint of anger in his sharp eyes.

"Of course, I need to know your origins," Blue chimed in again. "Because after I learned your origins, I came to know how you should live a normal life. You can live it if you return to being normal humans!"

Jack flinched a little at Blue, who suddenly spoke a little loudly at the end of her sentence. Not wanting to be provoked by the words of the blue-eyed girl, he silently turned around and intended to leave the hut.

"Where are you going?" Blue asked again.

Jack didn't completely turn to Blue. Only his head turned back when he answered, "Go on to do my next task."

That was when Blue remembered Mike's words before she was carried by Jack back to her hut. "What task has your leader given you?" She asked curiously.

Blue's question was apparently interesting because now Jack turned back towards the girl and answered, "Because you refused to join us, our leader decided to give you a little punishment which is a big reward for me who has done a good job so far."

Blue frowned at Jack's answer. The feeling of uneasiness gnawed at her mind. She suddenly had a bad feeling.

"Tell me exactly what you are going to do," Blue spoke again coldly.

Jack grinned broadly, then bent over and whispered right next to the blue-eyed girl's ear, "I'm going to Serein to eat Kevin."
