Chapter 386 Familiar Silhouette
He looked down on his chest, unbelieving that this was really happening. Though his regenerative skill was already activated and healing the wound.
Kiro felt a part of him disappear when the sword was withdrawn from his skin. He looked at the enemy, searching for answers. The thing simply smiled.
"System what's happening?" He asked unsure whether it would answer him but since this world was made for them to fight these godly beings — the system had no reason to refuse to help them.
Ding!
[I didn't know either. This is more dangerous than I originally thought, the blade can steal abilities. You're especially in danger since you're using Kaos...]
He was frantic, looking deep within himself to see what was taken. Kiro couldn't seem to find anything but he felt it, he felt something grab onto his soul and came out with something.
Ding!
[Guardian, its the creation skill...the reality warping skill, remember that? It took half of it. Remember when you created the sun? You can no longer warp reality like that.]
Kiro was livid. He hadn't even spent much time with the ability, he was waiting for it to cooldown and then it was stolen just like that?
"What, does that mean he has the power now?" If the harbinger had it, he knew it would be game over.
Ding!
[It seems it only turns whatever it steals into energy, so no. But the skill is unfortunately lost forever.]
There would be no use wallowing in self-pity. What was done was done, he could only focus on what he had and use that to the best of his abilities.
Scared that he was making himself multiple targets, he withdrew his clone skill. The thing seemed to be aware which one was him anyway, if he had to measure its strength he reckoned it was a general or even above.
Kiro wasn't sure what his reality warping now entailed. Though it was making him panic, he knew he didn't have the luxury to think about it.
He looked over at Nikolai who was having a much easier time dodging the creature. Turning himself into smoke wasn't easy but it wasn't too hard either.
That's just how fast it was, it could attack them almost at the same time even though they weren't close together.
"Nikolai!" Kiro screamed, "don't get hit, it steals abilities!"
The only problem was the fact the him yelling broke Nikolai's concentration he was tangible again. The harbinger was already ontop of him.
Like heavenly punishment, the sword hammered straight for his head. There was nothing else he could do but put the two daggers out to block the oncoming attack.
When the weapons met, a huge wave of gust was released while Nikolai was pushed deeper into the ground. He was an assassin, he didn't have much of any strength but surprisingly he was holding on, albeit his arms and legs were shaking.
He felt like his spine would snap at any moment but he knew giving up would mean something much worse.
"I admire your wills but you'll both die here." It mocked, breaking through Nikolai's resistance.
The blade sunk deeper into his shoulder. If his life wasn't already a path of pain he would've screamed and cried in anger.
The thing was smiling and laughing because Nikolai was still resisting. Giving up meant he would die. That's when it felt the air around it warp, before Kiro's kick connected it moved out of the way. Explore more adventures at empire
The target in front of him was none other than his ally.
'Fuck. He's so strong. Why's he so strong!'
He used whirlwind to slow down the kick and it eventually stopped, only inches away from his face. Both boys sighed with relief, it was close, too close.
"What did you lose? What did it take?" Kiro was frantic, looking at Nikolai's shoulder wound.
He popped open a potion and gave it to Nikolai.
Nikolai on the other hand was confused about the question. So Kiro explained to him what was going on and how he lost one of his reality warping skills.
Their enemy had put quite the distance between them. It was eyeing them warily for the first since it made its appearance.
'Is my blade malfunctioning? I thought I already gotten rid of anything that made him a slight threat?' It thought. 'Well it doesn't matter, beating them was never a problem."
Nikolai searched himself, he couldn't find anything that was missing. That made him the more scared, what if the blade took something he wasn't yet aware of.
Ding!
[The sword seems to have a serious cooldown. Thanks to the game's mechanics. See if you were out there, there would be no such advantage but because you were favoured, you could say this space was created to nerf these creature. They have no choice but to follow the worlds rules.]
"Couldn't have said that earlier?" Kiro blinked from where he stood, appearing in front of the harbinger.
It didn't expect it but that didn't show on its face regardless. The smirk it wore seemed to be a forever thing because it never quite stopped doing it.
Kiro had Ryu out now, now that he knew that it couldn't steal from him anymore he could afford being a little bit reckless.
No wars were ever won by being safe. Greater risk, greater rewards kind of situation.
He spun his staff once, creating a gust that contained little blades. The harbinger parried those with ease.
Kiro attempted to drive his staff right into the things stomach but it darted to the side blasted him with something unknown in the process.
He flew to the other side, his ears ringing madly. His body vibrated slightly, he could feel it. It was the same feeling he had when he made his jumps, he'd only ever jumped once but he'd never forget the feeling.
His sight was growing blur by the second. Something even more surprising happened, the head of the harbinger landed right in front of his.
He commanded his body to look, because he knew his own attack didn't rich it. Everything was happening slowly, he could barely see when he saw a familiar silhouette.
"Hubris?"
He immediately lost consciousness.
