The First King of Beasts

Chapter 109 New Adventurers

"That must be it, the adventurers guild building." Rea said seeing the building from afar.

They went all the way over and quietly entered the building. Sure enough, just like Dustin had seen in many shows, there were many adventurers inside the building casually sitting around, while others were discussing. Nobody seemed to even pay them much attention, except for the occasional looks cast over Rea, admiring her. Of course, there were some others in there that were not adventurers, but they weren't much.

The place, to put it simply, was a rectangular room divided into some sections, and the architecture was very impressive. So was the design and most of it.

Dustin could tell who was and who was not adventurer based off the energy they gave from their bodies, though he may not be completely right all the time.

'Are all of them…' Dustin thought to himself, before his thoughts were interrupted.

"Welcome to the adventurer's guild! How may I assist you?" A bright voice said, full of life.

'Too much energy.' Thought Dustin.

"We are here to register to be adventurers." Said Dustin.

The lady looked at them a bit weird, maybe she was surprised?

"It's rare to see anyone do that when it's not one of the fixed date, but maybe you two are that confident in your skills?" The lady asked, with a smile.

"What do you mean.. fixed date?" Asked, Rea.

"Well, normally, there is a fixed date for everyone to come register to become adventurers, for those interested. People normally are anxious, so they prefer to do such a thing with a crowd, so that if they end up failing, their woes may be hidden."

"Any way, why don't both of you come this way? My college will take you." Said, the lady, with a bright smile on her face. It was really hard to distinguish this smile between a work smile and a genuine one, she must have been a pro.

Dustin and Rea were taken by another lady through a door at the corner of the room, and they eventually exited the room and entered into a passage. After walking a bit, they entered into a room by the side, and inside sat a lazy looking young man around the age of 26 or so, wearing casual clothes and looking bored.

"Huh? What's going on? Who are these two?" The man asked in a bothered and bored tone, like an annoying kid had woken him up from sleep.

"They came to register, so I brought them here for the test, but…" The lady that led Dustin and Rea there said.

"Ah.. Boss man had some important guests it seemed, so he took it to his office, he'll be back soon."

"Really? Who could man him pull so much weight?" The lady asked curiously.

"Beats me. In the meantime, why don't you bring them to do the physical test?" Said the man.

"AH, yes."

They entered the passage again and walked for a bit and eventually came to an opening outdoors at the back of the building.

At the back, there was quite a big field that was divided into some different sections. Dummies and practice weapons could be spotted around.

"Hey hey!! Who are these two w=you've brought for me?" A burly man asked, as he jumped before them, seemingly out of nowhere.

"They came to register, so I brought them for the test."

"Is that so!? HA HA HA. Then, why don't you two follow me!" The man spoke. He looked quite heavy like he would weigh at least a ton, and was completely shredded. After all, his upperbody was mostly exposed since he was wearing a short jacket.

"Uh-Uhm, I'm not physical oriented!" Rea said, before running off to the side.

'Did she get that scared?' Thought Dustin. But on second thought, he agreed that the man at the test site did look a bit too domineering. 'Excess yang is not always good…'

"ALRIGHT…"

The man began giving some instructions to Dustin on how the test would be conducted, and when he was done it was time to start. Since Dustin was asked, he mentioned that he was good at using swords and his hands. He thought much about it, but at least those were the basics. He was handed a wooded sword and put against a dummy.

Shockingly, he crushed it in one strike. He had thought to limit his strength, but he didn't expect the dummy to be that soft. Same thing happened with the fist tests.

'THIS ONE… SPECIAL!' Thought, the burly man, with much enthusiasm showing in his eyes. Surely, Dustin already knew his thoughts just by looking at him.

"Alright! I underestimated you.. This test will not be enough. COME! DUEL WITH ME!!" The man said before handing Dustin a steel sword. He himself got a great sword.

"Is that a good idea? It's only a test." Said Rea, a bit worried.

"You two are one of them, right?" Said the man, with a bit of seriousness this time. Seeing that both did not respond, he drew his own conclusion.

"I already know that you are not like the normal man. If what I hear is correct, you have already fought in battles and even killed before, so this shouldn't be overboard. It's just that you guys always exceed the normal tests, so I have to test you myself to know what you are really capable of." Said, the man.

Dustin acknowledged, and the duel began.

Dustin took everything calmly, as he wasn't trying to expose his strength, there was no need to drag attention.

'But then again, I have to get a good ranking. Otherwise, it's be useless.' Thought Dustin.

He knew the examiner was a fighter himself, so Dustin counted on the fact that he would acknowledge the fact that he wasn't even trying and could still fight well. Alas, excess yang not always cause the brain to think straight.

"You, you are holding back. It's ok, I'll make you fight like a man, hahahaah!!" The man said.

This time, he launched an attack with some intent behind it, getting way more serious than necessary. Seeing this, Dustin decided there was no need to drag things out.

"Fine."
