Chapter 433: The Thirst

Chapter 433: The Thirst

Currently, it hadn’t been long since Hu Yuexin has shown up in front of a new Rift as she was busy hunting its monsters while two Guardians were standing still unable to do anything except gritting their teeth and making fists of anger. Even though they were very enraged, having already received the news of a dangerous Rift stealer, they did not want to risk their lives unnecessarily and instead decided to patiently wait for the Abnormal Association’s response.

In the meantime, shaking her head, Hu Yuexin pondered to herself in chagrin, ‘It’s still not enough speed! This speed of advancement just won’t be able to save him in time… when I killed a single Fan Tong, the progress was at least five times quicker than killing one monstrous beast of the Rift who has the same level of power as him. I suppose this has to do with the fact that both Fan Tong and my body are of the same race.’

‘The closer the quality of the blood is to my own, the more rapid the progress will be.’ This was the conclusion Hu Yuexin had arrived at after killing many types of monstrous beasts and Fan Tong together.

On one specific Rift, Hu Yuexin went against a panther and a gorilla who both happened to be at the same level of strength, however, by the time she was finished, she realized the gorilla’s blood had given her nearly twice as much energy as the panther.

That in addition to the case of Fan Tong, whose blood had energized her more than five times compared to monstrous beasts of the same level of strength as him, made Hu Yuexin certain that the race of the blood was of utmost importance to her.

Maybe there was more to it than that, but that was the current extent of Hu Yuexin’s understanding regarding her Trait.

‘But I can’t just go around and slaughter everyone indiscriminately. I guess that means the only method is to steal even more Rifts!’ As this notion had just popped into her head, Hu Yuexin received an emergency text which promptly garnered her full attention.

Following that, checking the execution notification that had come directly from the Abnormal Association itself, at first it resulted in Hu Yuexin frowning as she wondered to herself, ‘So these bastards are going to persist on trying to annoy me? Should I just change my mask to another type?’

Subsequently, shaking her head, she rejected the idea at once, ‘that won’t work, they will still know I’m the same person if I continue stealing other Rifts. The act itself is what’s attracting them.’

But despite all that, there was another aspect to all of this that was baffling her. ‘Why would they go so far as to declare that I’ve committed treason just because I’ve stolen a few Rifts? It doesn’t seem so simple.’

Letting out a sigh of frustration, Hu Yuexin was starting to get annoyed, when a glint of enlightenment popped into her eyes, ‘Wait, this could be just what I need, the opportunity I lacked. Now that a lot of Guardians are going to come and try hunting me down, I could use this opportunity to speed things up!’

A vicious glint was clear within Hu Yuexin’s eyes as killing intent began to exude from her being at the same time. She was now determined to do what she had to do. ‘No one should blame me since this is what those who come after me risked and brought upon themselves.’

Meanwhile, just as that notion had gone through her mind, Hu Yuexin abruptly noticed the two Guardians that had been previously standing aside in anger but not daring to attack were now charging in her direction. They were taking advantage of the fact that she was busy fighting the monstrous beasts of the Rift to get her by surprise.

On the other side, locking eyes with theirs which was screaming greed, Hu Yuexin understood exactly what was going through their heads. “So you guys just received the text as well and now you’ve lost your minds.”

“Then don’t point any fingers at me when you go to the afterlife since this is what you two brought upon yourselves.”

“Shut up!” Brandishing their Traits, the two was soon upon Hu Yuexin.

“Well, you know what they say, if you risked it all, you should expect failure and death!” Hu Yuexin declared.

“No one said that!” Feeling ridiculed, they denied it at once.

“Huh, is that so? Well, I’m the quoter then. Now, goodbye!” Announcing their departure, Hu Yuexin’s sword and the hand which was holding it vanished momentarily. By the time they could be perceived again, two heads were sent flying away while within the eyes of the flying heads, the panic was clear. This was the fright due to them witnessing their own headless body midair.

Shortly afterward, their blood all escaped into Hu Yuexin as the same experience of quick progress dominated her again while she became immersed in the sensation with her eyes closed. She was relishing the feeling of lightning-fast progress very much. “Yes! This is what I’m talking about!”

‘Let’s visit the next Rift that’s expected to activate soon, shall we?’ As this sentence shimmered through her brain, Hu Yuexin’s silhouette was gone.

Afterward, Hu Yuexin proceeded to visit one Rift after another while slaughtering all Guardians that had come to hunt her down.

At the second Rift she was visiting, two groups of Guardians had been waiting for her. After some struggle, she was successful in sending them all on their next journey. All in all, she was much stronger in the end as she was prepared to face even stronger enemies.

At the third Rift, four groups of Guardians were lying in wait, only to be faced with another massacre.

Hu Yuexin’s strategy was to avoid confronting them all at once and instead, utilizing her stunningly fluid movement technique which was getting even more efficient as her energy increased, she attacked them separately.

Every time she stopped by a Rift, more Guardians were awaiting her arrival as they were getting more proficient in tracking her down as more time went by. In fact, their method of predicting where Hu Yuexin will appear next was absolutely convenient. All they needed to ask themselves was, ‘where is the following Rift that will activate soon?’ and that was the most likely place for her to appear.

And indeed, not disappointing any of them, Hu Yuexin showed up every single time.

Five groups, harshly dismissed.

Seven groups, horribly exterminated.

Ten groups, gorily decimated.

Twelve, totally annihilated!

“Hehe, HEHEHE…” While dancing around showering in the blood of her enemies that was getting absorbed into her in rivers, Hu Yuexin’s mouth gave off maniacal bursts of laughter from time to time as she got more lost in the addicting feeling of getting more powerful by the second. Without her even noticing, her intense thirst for more blood was creating a sensation of euphoria in her.

Afterward, the place Hu Yuexin visited had two Rifts side by side and one of them was about to trigger soon. That was the reason why she was here, however, what was eye-catching and worth mentioning about the entire situation was not that. But rather it was the fact that in this round, she was against much more Guardians compared to the previous times.

An entire Guild, consisting of more than one hundred Guardians, were hiding, ready to ambush her the moment she showed up. Of course, Hu Yuexin realized that before revealing herself in front of everyone else.

Although she could’ve dodged them and gone to another Rift, being already engrossed in her power, however, Hu Yuexin did not do that.

On the contrary, she was quite confident she could take care of them all and considered it a rare opportunity that had to be grabbed.

Thus, soon, a silhouette could be seen flickering everywhere as she sent one head after another flying into the air.

“Everyone! Attack together! She might be able to run around dodging one Trait after another, but she can’t dodge more than a hundred!” The leader of the other Guild, a five-star Guardian, ordered.

Indeed, with that strategy and the professional coordination of the Guardians as a result of working together for a long time, the number of wounds on Hu Yuexin’s physique continued to increase with each passing second. Unfortunately for the Guardians, however, their number was decreasing at an even faster rate.

By the time everything was over and dried carcasses could be spotted in every meter of the ground in all directions, a bloody figure of Hu Yuexin was still barely on foot in the middle of it all. Nonetheless, as large amounts of blood were currently being sucked into her body, the wounds all over her flesh were healing and closing up by themselves at a frightening speed.

At this time, as a result of numerous Traits flying around everywhere, the rough terrain had transformed into a complete wreck as all types of surveillance cameras had already stopped functioning. The appearance of the land had changed so much one could hardly believe this place was the same as before.

The only evidence that proved this land was the same location as before was the existence of the Rifts that had yet to activate.

‘The Rift will trigger soon, let’s wait and recuperate to my peak condition until then.’ Having already made up her mind, Hu Yuexin was just about to sit down and rest shortly, when suddenly, apparently out of nowhere, a man fell off of the clear sky, startling Hu Yuexin to her very core.

Following that, gazing at the source of her startlement at the countenance of her newly arrived opponent, an intense shiver went down Hu Yuexin’s spine.
