The Great Thief

Chapter 1744 - The Crazy Scientist

Chapter 1744: The Crazy Scientist

The previous Bosses weren’t really difficult. Everyone only had to go through a few team wipes before they would be finished, but Heigan really wouldn’t be that easy. Any one of the skills of this undead Mage could lead to a team wipe. The players had to pay the price of a few deaths to be able to learn the mechanisms of this Boss’ skills.

However, Ruling Sword’s players didn’t. They already knew of Heigan’s abilities ages ago.

“All the races of the world will eventually go extinct. This is just a matter of time.”

“I can see limitless suffering, limitless torture... I can see the anger of heaven and earth – I see everything...”

“This world will be shaken very soon...”

“Your life is heading to its end.”

“Starving worms will swallow up your rotten body.”

This undead Mage left behind some classic lines as he died again at the hands of Lu Li and his team. This time, they only died once.

Two players received skills points, but still no Enhanced Skill Books were dropped.

In terms of equipment, Remnant Dream looted a Necklace of Necropsy. Although other healing roles could also use it, Lu Li let the Priests compete. March Rain and Star Baby didn’t really think much of this necklace, and so it was picked up by Machine Bro at a cheap price.

No one would think that purchasing Epic jewelry for 60 points was expensive, apart for those non-mainstream roles like Shamans.

Icy Scale Coif – this was a piece of Ice-resistant headgear that increased agility in Chain Mail Armor. Hunters and Shamans could use it. There weren’t many of either professions, and this item didn’t garner much interest, so in the end, Sakura Memories purchased it at a low price.

She reasoned should could wear this hat to fight Mages.

The Icy Scale Coif was very suitable for fighting Mages. Some Paladins or Warriors would even carry one of these in their bag, equipping it when they encountered Ice Magic.

Not only did this hat increase Ice Resistance, but it would also reduce the time they were frozen for.

An old Mage would probably be completely stunned now. Now, when PVP players were selecting equipment, they used Mages as their hypothetical opponents.

Icebane Helmet was another piece of headgear that provided Ice Resistance. It appeared that Heigan had turned into a hat peddler in the Instance Dungeon. This piece of equipment was for defensive roles, so Lu Li handed it right over to Azure Sea Breeze.

They would encounter Ice Magic later in the Instance Dungeon, so they needed to stock up.

However, Ice Resistance was one of the most common types of resistance, so it wasn’t hard to acquire.

Desecrated Waistguard was T3 equipment for Warriors and Thieves.

This Belt could actually be used by defensive Warriors, but what Azure Sea Breeze was wearing was simply too valuable. And also, the major competition was around the corner, so competitors had priority for set equipment.

Moonlight bid a relatively high price and took it away.

Lu Li actually wanted it as well. He needed to acquire another piece to gain the set effect. Fortunately, there were lots of Bosses later, so this wouldn’t be too difficult.

Desecrated Belt.

The Magic players were beginning to get stuck. The three roles of Priests, Mages and Warlocks were all fiercely competing.

Fat Monkey cried as he stuffed the equipment into his backpack. His wallet was bleeding.

Moonlight spent 80 points to purchase the T3 belt in his hands, but Far Monkey had spent 150 points, which was almost twice as much. He wouldn’t feel hurt if there was no such comparison, but given the circumstances, there was no way he could feel entirely satisfied after this.

“There’s another one – it’s exactly the same as the last one!” Remnant Dream exclaimed in elation.

Another Desecrated Waistguard – what a blessing for the Magic players!

However, something happened that surprised everyone. The first piece had been sold for 150 points, but the second had actually gone for 180 points. Even Lu Li couldn’t understand it. Last time, Lu Li wasn’t willing to compete when it was at 150 points, so why had it risen to 180 points now?

Fat Monkey immediately lightened up.

After a final Splinter of Atiesh was dropped, they headed off to where the next Boss was.

“We’re going so fast. If someone can get the First Clear before us, I’ll cut off myself off down there,” Azure Sea Breeze said, taking the lead. That was what you called having the spirit of enthusiasm.

“Hehe, really?” Lu Li asked.

“Foggy Grass, what do you wanna do? Damn you! You’re not gonna throw the match are you?”

Azure Sea Breeze wasn’t an idiot; he understood what Lu Li’s double meaning was. If you used psychotic logic to work it out, Lu Li could easily throw the match and not get First Clear to see Azure Sea Breeze cut himself off on livestream. Wasn’t it easy for a commander to do that?

“How could I do that? We’re brothers! If you cut it off though, don’t worry,” Lu Li said, then continued, “Your wife and kids, I will take care of them!”

“Look at my lips! Damn your girlfriend!”

Azure Sea Breeze was in a rage, but he quickly realized he didn’t have a wife, so he relaxed and let out a breath.

It looked like they could still kill the third Boss of the plague zone within the day

This Boss was named Loatheb. He wasn’t a person, nor an undead. Perhaps he could be considered a Fen Creeper.

The plague had a massive impact on the plants and animals. The crooked Fen Creeper Loatheb was the best example. Loatheb was a fungus monster which had been used by the fanatical Heigan for a plague experiment. After going through changes, this scary beast was now able to spread the frightening plague and was even able to summon mutant spores to increase his strength.

In the caves of tears in the west Plaguelands, there were countless swampy muddy monsters as well as many mutant plants.

Under the effects of the plague, the swamp monsters had unusual changes occur to them. Originally slow and peaceful, the toxins in their plague made them quick and cruel. They fought each other but they could never kill their opponents. At this, they evolved to prevent their opponents’ ability to heal themselves.

Heigan tried to extract this sort of strength and also use it on their undead generals.

He was a dangerous scientist, and even crazier that those who studied engineering.

However, with every experiment, these swamp monsters went through new changes. When they went to fight each other, they released a special spore which would increase the damage of other monsters.

The crazy Heigan definitely wasn’t satisfied with this achievement. He combined a Dreadlord’s blood with a demon warlord’s blood, before synthesizing and injecting them with a new plague.

These guys had undergone a new change as well. They kept fighting themselves like before as frightening shadow magic covered the whole room. Those Acolytes who fed them only stood for a second before they corroded until there was nothing left. Under this frightening shadow magic, the only thing that survived was this organism.

Kel’Thuzad called it Loatheb.

It was said in ancient legends of the Spider Kingdom that the devil that heralded the last days was called Loatheb.
