Chapter 57 - 57 The Final Match
57 The Final Match
He Miao saw that the direction was different from what she expected and asked in confusion, “Where are you taking me?”
Jing Yan lowered his eyes to look at her. His voice was calm, but his heart was beating faster. “I’ll be running from here. Take a good picture of me. If you don’t, I’ll complain to Grandpa.”
He Miao pursed her lips. She had no choice but to lower her head while she was injured.
Her leg was injured and she could not move, so she could not refute him. She let him put her on a chair near the track, and his phone was stuffed into her hand.
When Mu Xiao saw that he had returned, he hurriedly ran over and said, “Hurry up and go to the teacher to get your number . It’s about to start.”
Jing Yan nodded slightly. He looked at He Miao, who was sitting in his seat and could not go anywhere. Suddenly, he was in a good mood. He snorted and turned to report to the teacher.
Mu Xiao lowered his head and saw the phone in He Miao’s hand. He exclaimed, “Isn’t this Brother Yan’s phone? Why are you here?”
He Miao waved his phone lazily. “Your Brother Yan insisted that I take pictures for him.”
“Did he say that Grandpa Jing asked him to do so?” Mu Xiao asked with mixed feelings.
“Yup.” He Miao nodded matter-of-factly.
If it were not for Grandpa Jing’s wishes, she would not have done anything for him.
“Oh.” Mu Xiao nodded in a daze. He looked at He Miao’s nonchalant expression and mumbled, “Then you stay here and watch. I’ll go get you something.”
“What do you mean?” He Miao turned to look at himin confusion, but Mu Xiao was too fast and had already run far away, so he could not answer her question.
However, He Miao soon found out what Mu Xiao had done.
The man hurried back to the class stand and then ran back to hand her a bottle of water and a towel.
He Miao raised the two items and looked at him with a frown. “For Jing Yan? Can’t you just give it to him directly?”
Mu Xiao mumbled, “I still have something to do. I have to go. You wait here. Brother Yan will definitely come and find you after he’s done running.”
He Miao agreed. She placed the two items on her lap, swiped the screen, turned on the camera, and waited for the competition to start.
After Jing Yan signed up, he followed the organizers to the starting line. When he passed by He Miao, he immediately saw the two extra things on her lap. His eyes lit up, and his lips unconsciously curved into a happy arc.
At least she was thoughtful and knew to prepare water and a towel for him.
The two-kilometer men’s long-distance run was the finale of the sports meet. The participants of this event were all sports elites from various departments.
Many long-distance runners of the same grade had watched Jing Yan’s relay race, so they were a little afraid of this thin-looking teenager.
Jing Yan took off his coat and threw it to He Miao, revealing his short-sleeved sportswear. His strong arms were full of muscles from long-term exercise, which dazzled the eyes of the girls around him.
The shrill scream made He Miao cover her ears. She waited until the girls around her calmed down a little before she picked up the phone and aimed it at Jing Yan.
With the PE teacher’s whistle, the scene suddenly became silent. The starting gun was raised high and suddenly, a “BANG” was heard, announcing the start of the last match.
Jing Yan’s tactics were different from He Miao’s. He did not plan to hide his strength from the first round. He took the lead and rushed to the front, pulling a full half-lap distance away from the second place.
This kind of all-out running method made the PE teachers watching the game speechless.
“This is the male student who came up as a substitute from the Computer Science Department? Unfortunately, 2000 meters isn’t as simple as 200 meters. This kind of reckless sprint from the start will probably be very difficult to maintain in the later stages.”
“Not necessarily.” Another physical education teacher noticed something and said thoughtfully, “Look at him. When he passed by us just now, his breathing was steady, his face wasn’t red, and his heart wasn’t beating fast. He doesn’t look like a brute who used up all his strength in one go.”
He Miao had also noticed this problem. She could hear the disapproving voices of the students around her, but she had clearly captured Jing Yan’s start on her phone.
Not only did he not use up all his strength, but he also took the lead with ease.
Jing Yan obviously would not arrogantly think that he could easily get first place. He had already calculated the distance between him and the person behind him. Although he seemed to be in the lead, he would secretly exert his strength to prevent the person behind him from getting the chance whenever the person in second place tried to shorten the distance.
After a few times, the second athlete’s breathing gradually became disordered, and he could not catch up anymore.
