Chapter 50: Siren (IV)
Chapter 50: Siren (IV)
Many years had passed when the fighting between the clans had come to an end. Siren stopped counting the days, months, and even the years as they did Mother's bidding and staying locked in their cage.
They even tried to stay on Mother's good side, acting as an excellent pet even though Siren hated it. They wanted to throw up every time they played like how the Mother wanted them to. But Siren knew that they could not vomit their disgust because they barely had any food in their system.
But acting this way kept Narith away from them.
Mother noticed how Siren was scared of Narith, and they do not fear easily. So, every time Siren did something wrong, Mother would not use her usual torturing practices. She started to let Narith become their main torturer.
And it scared Siren because of all the other things they went through (beatings, skinning, starvation, etc.), having their blood sucked out of them until they were close to drying out, only to get more pumped backed in them, then for the cycle to repeat, broke Siren.
After many years, way past millennium, with being held captive by Mother, and after different types of torture and pain, Siren finally broke.
Resting in the corner of their cell, like they usually did, Siren was rocking back and forward, trying to picture themselves far away from there.
Siren has started to do that a lot; it helped them avoid losing it, even though they believe they already lost their sanity.
The sound of heels clicking on the ground reached their ears as Siren quickly turned around, getting on their knees. They waited for Mother to appear because they knew that the sound of heels was hers.
Mother was humming as she stopped in front of the bars that separated her from Siren. She opened them, walking inside as she stopped in front of her pet. Mother was ecstatic that Siren was already on their knees, waiting to serve her.
Crouching down, Mother ran her hands through Siren's hair. Siren held back a flinch and shudder that went through them. In the beginning, they were able to take Mother's touch, but after dealing with Narith, Siren did not want to be touched anymore.
Mother smiled at them before saying, "My lovely weapon, after many years and the beautiful sight of dead bodies filling the ground, the clans are ready to leave this world."
Siren did not say anything, only giving Mother a blank look. Nowadays, they learned to stop responding unless Mother wanted them to. And it sounded like she only came down here to tell them the news.
Mother continued to run her hands through Siren's dirty hair that was long once more. "Today, I will call a meeting, and I want you there at my feet, Perditor."
Siren did not understand why Mother worded it like they had a choice when they didn't. Mother made all their decisions whether Siren liked it or not. And Siren hated all of them.
She moved her hand away, standing up as she turned around, getting ready to walk away, "Get up. It is time to get you cleaned."
Siren stood up on shaky legs, trying hard not to fall back down due to their bony legs not having any strength. They faked their power as they walked towards the Mother, following her.

The room that Siren was in was freezing. The ground was hard while the temperature was worse than the air. They held back their shivering, hating how weak they've become to have the temperature to affect them in this way.
Siren looked towards the table that held the clans: Conla, Lynai, Germa, and Dedia. The clan's table was a long rectangular one because they had two people in charge; it was like a king and queen, except Mother was the queen, while the clan leaders were like princes and princesses.
Mother was not at the table. She had a throne a few feet ahead of it because she found it beneath her to share the table with the clan leaders.
Siren thought it looked weird because the clans were positioned in a way to only stare at her; it looked like they were on trial or something.
Siren was at the Mother's feet, sitting on the ground with chains surrounding their neck, feet, and arms. The weight of them kept Siren from moving around as their legs were growing numb from the coldness.
Mother had them dressed in a black, transparent robe while their hair was in a high ponytail instead of getting cut. Siren felt like an offering with the way others were staring at them, especially Narith, stationed in one of the dark corners, instead of a weapon or pet as people would call it.
The room was silent as Mother was leaning on her throne with her head positioned in her hand. The clans looked like they wanted to speak on top of each other, but they did not because it would anger Mother.
"Why have you summoned us, Mother? Are you ready to talk about this other world you have been mentioning?" A brave, or foolish, soul asked from the Germa Clan.
The others looked at the woman, who spoke, with apparent surprise before turning back to the Mother to see if she was furious. Many times she had mentioned how she hated when people talked without her giving permission.
But instead of looking anger at the woman speaking, Mother had a calm expression as she moved her head; her hands found their way to Siren's ponytail.
"My beautiful children, due to your fighting, this world has become impossible to live in; there are bodies everywhere you turn, blood in the water, destroyed buildings, and the smoke from fires turned the sky an ugly brown.
"But, we will not be here long as there is a new world that we could rule overone with evolving technology and humans that we could use as slaves. The world is a beautiful one, waiting for us to take it over."
The clans looked intrigued, mainly when Mother spoke of evolution.
Time was nothing to them as they did not age, so they never changed what they did, unlike the humans whose lifespans were too short. They were always changing, coming out with new things that the creatures were fascinated by.
But they could only watch from afar due to not being able to cross into the human world.
"The new world you spoke of was the human one? How will we go there? Our powers are too great to step one foot there." A man from the Conla Clan asked.
More of the clans spoke out this time, not caring about angering Mother as they wanted to know more.
Mother hummed, almost pulling Siren's ponytail back as she spoke, "We will give the humans a gift. A gift that will weaken the defenses on the world, making us able to cross over. But know that this will take time. It is a good thing that time does not matter to us."
It was silent before the four clans started talking over each other, trying to ask more questions. Mother's face contorted to one of anger as she pulled Siren's ponytail back, almost snapping their neck.
"Quiet!" Mother yelled, causing everyone to stop speaking. "If you have any more questions. I want you to think about them, then come back and ask me your questions. But I will speak to one clan at a time. Do you understand?"
The clans nodded their heads, already pulling out paper to jot down the questions they had for Mother. They were mostly curious about what type of gift Mother planned to give the humans.
"You are dismissed."
The clans stood up from the table, making their way out as they took one last glance at Mother then Siren, who was still silently sitting her feet.
Siren shut themselves down during the whole meeting, trying to picture themselves in a warm place because they could no longer feel their legs. Mother brought them back to reality when she pulled their ponytail and almost snapped their neck.
They gritted their teeth, holding back a curse when they felt the pull. When Mother let go, Siren was relieved.
"Perditor, come up here." Mother called for them.
Siren stood up, almost stumbling from the weight of the chains and the numbness of their legs. They made their way into Mother's lap, sitting there as they tried hard not to touch her.
Mother noticed that her weapon was too stiff as she clicked her tongue before pulling them closer. Siren did not like the hold and tried to stop themselves from pushing the woman away.
"My lovely weapon, I have a task for you." She started, her arms tightening around their waist as she pulled him in closer.
There was no warmness to Mother; it felt like Siren was still sitting on the floor because she was cold just like it. "What is the task?" Siren robotically asked.
Those words became a repeat out of Siren's mouth since Mother always had a task for them.
Mother tilted her head like she was signaling to someone when she answered, "I am going to send you to the human world."
Siren wanted to ask how Mother would do it. Because even though they were weak, they were still too strong to enter the human world. But they did not get the chance to open their mouth when something stabbed them in the neck.
Everything went dark as Mother's touch was the last thing Siren felt before they passed out.
