Chapter 1719: Mighty Little Silver

Chapter 1719: Mighty Little Silver

Taking a deep breath, A’hu held the Flat Peach Tree branch and started walking while warning Lin Xun through voice transmission, “In the Kunlun Ruins, there is a saying that one should never enter any forest, so it’s certain that there are great dangers lurking within this one as well. We must be on our guard.”

Whoosh!

Lin Xun immediately summoned the Broken Blade, put the No-Nonsense Bow on his back, and covered himself fully with a soft silver armor.

This armor was one of the trophies he had captured from Underworld Son at the Great Emperor Pass. Called ‘Heavy Billow,’ it contained sixty-four defensive runes and was a rare, precious treasure.

Soon, the two of them entered the forest, upon which their field of vision darkened suddenly and an eerie, horrifying atmosphere washed over them.

A’hu’s expression also became solemn.

This forest was home to sky-blotting old trees and hanging vines as thick as pythons. The ground was covered in thick, decayed leaves, stepping on which created rustling, crunchy sounds.

The air carried a cold and damp rotten smell. As they walked, the shade of the trees covered the sky, gray and deep, and it was so silent that it felt creepy.

On the way, A’hu continued transmitting, “According to the intel I got, many unique and poisonous insects hibernate in this forest, and they are all acute and terrifying. Many powerful experts who came looking for the Flat Peach Tree in the past all met their end here, leaving not a single piece of bone behind.

“But even so, it still can’t stop more from coming, for that tree is so bizarre and miraculous that people will go crazy and walk through fire for it.”

Lin Xun commented with a frown, “This place is indeed bizarre. Being in it makes my mind unstable, as if there is a power that’s silently interfering with my spirit.”

A’hu said, “This is normal. In the old days, many cultivators got lost in here because their spirits were eroded, so much so that they didn’t even realize a calamity had already descended upon them.”

As the two moved forward with vigilance, they came across quite a few horrifying scenes.

Occasionally, ferocious and hair-raising beast roars would shake the forest to the point all the trees rustled.

Vicious birds streaked through the void with a savage, lording presence. Just a glance at them from afar sent chills down their spines. It was sheer terror.

On top of that, there were many ferocious creatures that could not be found in the outside world.

For example, there was a black snail that was as enormous as a mountain, a dark-green centipede that had hundreds of compound eyes…

Even Lin Xun and A’hu could only retreat from afar. The auras of those ferocious creatures were so frighteningly powerful that they were simply not something they could fight against.

Fortunately, the two were extremely alert all along and would make a detour as soon as they sensed something was off. Doing that allowed them to tread this far without any danger.

“This place is terrifying indeed. I’m afraid that anyone venturing into here without preparations would suffer and pay with their life.”

Lin Xun knew very well that if it wasn’t for A’hu guiding the way, it would have been impossible for them to have traveled up to this point as there were just too many deadly trials on the way.

A’hu agreed and explained quickly, “There are countless perilous places like this in the Kunlun Ruins. In fact, among them, the Fengshan Platform is the most taboo and dangerous one.

“Before coming here, I spent years gathering all sorts of information before mustering up the courage to challenge this place.”

Suddenly, Lin Xun’s hair stood on end. A radiant energy flowed out from him and wrapped up A’hu before he swiftly teleported both of them far away.

Soundlessly, a huge hole appeared where they had just stood, from which a stream of thumb-sized, colorful bugs surged out, each emitting a cold and cruel breath.

“Colorful Corpse Bugs!” A’hu paled, and her pupils constricted.

The two of them retreated far away and concealed their auras as this kind of insect was rumored to be condensed from the most ferocious qi of ancient corpses.

It was easy to kill them, but the corpse qi they emitted after death was an incomparably horrifying poison that would corrode one’s spirit and taint their cultivation upon the slightest touch!

Rustle~

More and more Colorful Corpse Bugs poured out from the hole and scattered in all directions.

Lin Xun and A’hu didn’t dare to stop as they quickly moved away.

Suddenly, a whimpering flute sound echoed from the depths of the forest. Like the cry of a deity, it was hair-raising.

And then, the Colorful Corpse Bugs all rushed toward Lin Xun and A’hu as if they were being controlled!

A’hu’s expression sank. “Damn it, someone knows the art of controlling Colorful Corpse Bugs and is using it to deal with us from the shadows!”

Lin Xun’s eyes were cold as he spread his spirit sense in the direction that the flute sound came from.

He was then able to vaguely detect a figure hiding behind a large tree, their aura faintly discernible.

Rustle~

Before Lin Xun could lock on this person, the Colorful Corpse Bugs that had covered this entire area had already fearlessly approached.

These insects had a cold and savage aura and exuded a sickening putrid stench. Densely covering all sides, they made it impossible to escape or avoid.

“We can only kill our way out.” A’hu’s eyes flashed with a ruthless glint.

Lin Xun, however, quickly stopped her.

Whoosh!

In just the blink of an eye, Little Silver swept out from Lin Xun. As he looked around at the fearless tide of colorful bugs, his handsome little face displayed indescribable disdain and disgust.

Boom!

Stepping into the void, Little Silver emitted a ferocious aura that belonged to the bloodline power of the God Devourer Insects.

The Colorful Corpse Bugs instantly trembled and dropped from the void like a downpour, then shivering and creaking as if they were bowing down to their king!

The whimpering flute noise became urgent and impassioned. The person seemed to sense something was wrong with the situation and was trying to drive the bugs with all their might.

But their effort was in vain.

Under Little Silver’s intimidating might, the hideous bugs that could strike terror into any cultivator were all docile and obedient like lowly lackeys.

Lin Xun and A’hu shared a look of shock. Perhaps this was what they called ‘everything had a natural nemesis’?

It was worth mentioning that Little Silver hadn’t even initiated a fight. He merely relied on his aura to suppress all these Colorful Corpse Bugs!

“Go!”

An even more astonishing scene appeared after Little Silver gave an order. The sea of bugs whistled up in unison and shot toward the direction of the flute sound.

“Damnit!” Thousands of feet away, a black-clothed man paled. He put away the bamboo flute in his hand and fled.

“Master, let’s chase after him?” Little Silver was murderous. “I can sense that many insects are hibernating in this forest, but their bloodlines are far inferior to mine, so I can make them obediently follow my orders!”

Hearing this, Lin Xun and A’hu’s eyes lit up, and they agreed without hesitation.

Little Silver immediately led the way. The Colorful Corpse Bugs around gathered and started acting like pioneers as they opened up the road.

Lin Xun and A’hu followed behind as the unexpected joy filled their hearts.

Earlier, they had constantly erred on the side of caution while treading this treacherous forest, and had still been close to suffering many times.

But it was completely different now.

With Little Silver and his ability to control the poisonous insects distributed in this forest, the risk along the way was bound to be minimized!

Rustle~

More and more bugs began to emerge to join the team under Little Silver’s command as they went.

These included a Green-Faced Ghost Insect that was as big as a palm, a Bamboo Call Insect that was as thin as a needle, and many other kinds.

They packed up the ground and blotted out the sky. Lin Xun and A’hu couldn’t help but gasp when they saw that. They didn’t dare to imagine how this forest could hide so many bizarre and savage bugs.

Boom!

A mountainous black snail on their path was alarmed by the insect army.

If they had run into this creature that had an extremely terrifying aura earlier, Lin Xun and A’hu would definitely have avoided it from afar, not daring to get close.

But now, Lin Xun’s jaw dropped to see this huge snail swiftly flee like a bolt while knocking down numerous sky-high trees in the process.

The creature clearly knew that Little Silver and the insect army under his command were not to be messed with.

“I should have released Little Silver from the start,” lamented Lin Xun. Today was such an eye-opening experience as he finally witnessed the true might of the God Devourer Insects. They were truly the majestic king of all insects in existence.

“Master, this forest is called the Immortal Ancient Insect Nest and has existed since ancient times. The insects distributed throughout are all here to guard the Peach Utopia Secret Realm at the very back.”

Little Silver shared what he had learned after communicating with the insects.

However, since most of these insects did not have intelligence, what they knew was extremely limited.

Even so, this lifted the spirits of Lin Xun and A’hu.

Peach Utopia Secret Realm!

That legendary Flat Peach Tree was definitely in there!

……

Meanwhile, the frightened man in black was teleporting nonstop into the depths of the forest.

Eventually, he arrived at an open area where not a blade of grass grew. It was completely empty except for a floating portal flowing with colorful lights in the center.

In front of the portal, a group of cultivators had been standing guard. There were both men and women, and all of them looked extraordinary. From their matching outfits, it was obvious that they came from the same organization.

“It’s bad! Someone is coming! Quickly inform the Young Master!” said the black-clothed man anxiously as soon as he arrived.

The guards were stunned, which they let show on their expressions.

“Only our Myriad Origin Sect knows of this small path in the Immortal Ancient Insect Nest. How could anyone else possibly come close?”

“Impossible. This path is full of dangers. Ordinary cultivators won’t be able to survive long enough to reach this place.”

“Also, the Young Master has only just entered the Peach Utopia Secret Realm. He has ordered that no one, no matter who it is, can go in and disturb him without authorization.”

All with somewhat disbelieving looks on their faces, these disciples from the Myriad Origin Sect spoke out one after another.

The man in black was sweating profusely as he said, “You don’t understand! Those two aren’t affected by our insect controlling technique at all. Moreover, they’ve even taken over the control of the insects in this Immortal Ancient Insect Nest and are driving them in this direction!”

A brief silence reigned the area as the guards displayed utter disbelief.

While their Myriad Origin Sect couldn’t compare to the Great Six Courts and the Great Ten Battle Clans on the Ancient Nebula Road, very few forces could come close to them in the art of controlling insects!

So when such an abnormal thing had occurred, who could not be shocked?

Buzz~ Buzz~

A wave of screeches abruptly echoed in the distance.

The faces of all the Myriad Origin Sect’s disciples changed drastically as they finally understood why the black-clothed man was in such a panic.
