Chapter 339: Chapter 213: Comprehensive Upgrade (Part 2)_1

Having dealt with the guards and managed the Mecha, Monkey immediately rushed into the guards’ room, and then began to rummage through boxes and overturn cabinets.

Seeing Monkey’s adept movements, Teddy Bear couldn’t help but ask, “Have you also gone against the cops before? Otherwise, why are your searching motions so skilled?”

Monkey glanced back at Teddy Bear, “You don’t remember other things, how come you remember this so clearly?”

“Not sure, might be instinct. Anyway, I can’t remember anything proper, but I sure remember the improper stuff crystal clear. I reckon my setting must be a crime star or something.”

“What a JOJO you are!”

While chatting idly with Teddy Bear, Monkey continued to thoroughly check the room, leaving no corner unexamined.

Soon enough, a secret compartment under the bed was discovered, and tearing the wooden panel aside, a small chip appeared before Monkey.

This chip, in the normal course of the game, would appear later, when after defeating the Scavenger Organization’s Mechas, they would send a formidable entity to pursue the player, and the chip would be on that entity’s Mecha.

The chip could produce a bullet-time effect, significantly increasing the operator’s reaction speed, allowing for a multitude of reactive moves in a short period, and it was an item that only appeared in solo-mode Mechas, ineffective in multiplayer mode.

However, in-game, it was more like time slowing down, but the final effect was roughly the same, so it didn’t really matter.

Monkey’s rebuilt Mecha had just two chip slots. After inserting the Speed-up Chip into his own Mecha, he glanced at Teddy Bear and then shook his head in disappointment.

“What did you mean just now?” Teddy Bear asked discontentedly, “I feel like you were quite disappointed a moment ago.”

“When you see an Artifact Spirit that can do nothing but commit crimes, you too would be disappointed.”

“No, I would just feel like I’ve found a kindred spirit.”

Monkey was left speechless once again, then realized that in the face of someone shameless, his seventeen years of life experience were still too green.

With the chip integrated, Monkey’s Mecha flexed its body, and then he started to consider the subsequent plot.

In the normal story, the President of the Scavenger Organization would defeat the player with formidable strength. However, being a connoisseur of talent, the President would discover the player’s combat potential after the battle and then scheme to send the player to the arena, transitioning smoothly to that part of the game.

But once detached from the main storyline, the organization’s hatred towards him would only deepen until the main plot got back on track.

Their spacecraft was the only one capable of leaving the planet and heading to the arena, meaning their enmity would linger for a long time.

As he thought, a loud roar erupted from outside the room.

Stepping out of the guards’ room, Monkey saw a huge spacecraft descend from the sky, its kicked-up dust obscuring the sun.

When the ship’s hatch opened, a white Mecha dropped down from the sky, jumped down against the spotlight, and created a web-like crack on the ground where it landed.

The five-meter-tall Mecha was a seamless unit, its pure white body with clear lines, and artificially muscled physique stood out impressively, showcasing both power and aesthetics.

Its pilot was also one of the dominators of the Mecha arena, with previous rankings always within the top thirty, a notorious powerhouse in the vicinity.

This planet was his home, and after achieving fame and success, this veteran gladiator returned home and gathered the Scavenger Organization here.

Although he taxed rather heavily, this big shot was also pragmatic, making him something of a gray character overall.

And his Mecha, named Morning Star, was exceedingly powerful. Although some chips were not yet implemented, its potential was enough for it to match the top hundred-ranked in the arena.

This character was supposed to appear after the player had learned to operate the Mecha and had acquired two chips.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

However, the cost of disrupting the story line began to emerge; the opponent, who was a stage boss, appeared ahead of time, landing in front of Monkey.

If he lost, he would wake up in the midst of the junkyard and be granted the “unique Artifact Spirit,” but then any easter eggs would also be foregone.

Adjusting his posture, Monkey slowly mobilized, assuming a combat stance.

Behind him, Teddy Bear didn’t even dare breathe too loudly.

The gap in combat strength between them was too apparent, and such a terrifying difference made it feel that Monkey… no, that they themselves were doomed.

The other party was the protagonist, fated by destiny. Even if cast into a star, the world’s restraining power would safely bring him back.

But not so for Teddy Bear.

It felt that it was but an anomaly in this world, a mistake born out of chance.

Its fate was tied to Monkey, so it could only pray that Monkey could somehow defeat the opponent to let it survive.

But it didn’t think this was likely, as fighting against the world was just too hard.

It prepared to pray for Monkey and itself, and then saw Monkey charging forward.

“Eh! Charged just like that! Don’t you high-level players exchange witty banter first?”

Not only Teddy Bear, but the opponent within Morning Star was also taken aback.

Before regaining his composure, Monkey’s thrown-together Mecha had already rushed towards him, and the alloy staff came crashing down with force.

One would have thought the staff was a lethal move, but Monkey suddenly let go of the staff, turned on the Mecha’s force field to full blast, instantly neutralizing the force field of Morning Star’s Mecha.

Unlike normal Mechas, the Morning Star had superior performance, and its force field was also more outstanding.
