UNLIMITED SPEED

Chapter 497 497. DISADVANTAGE

The sky was dark and the silver light of the moon swept the lower regions of the nation of Cusk. The rivers, ponds, and even streams shimmered with that magical light as blue motes of light filled certain areas of the lush forest below.

Mana's density had skyrocketed, charging everything with its power. Trees that had the sturdiness of tier 3 cultivators existed everywhere, some going as high as the higher stage of the third tier. But that was the highest, and only one or two of such existed.

Noah continued his sprint on the many platforms of wind his mind was capable of crafting in a matter of instants. He could form seventy of such steps at every point in time, allowing him a sense of ease.

His destination was less than one-fifty miles away, but he could his instincts could pick up something. And it wasn't good.

Noah slowed down his movement speed to see if he could catch sight of anything odd, and he did.

The sight of huge craters began to unfold in his eyes, They were many and differed in size and color. Noah could even guess how long some of them had been there. But there were craters nonetheless.

The sight, even if he had emotions would not have been shocking. Not after what he had seen at the former position of the divine lightning guild island.

It only further proved that he would be stepping into enemy territory, even if his destination was after those expansive regions.

The craters got more numerous as he traveled deeper, but soon they began to recede. At this point, he was less than 70 miles from his position.

Something worse replaced those craters, however, and that was the stench of death.

A clear land surface spanning a few kilometers unfolded in his gaze at that point and Noah laid eyes on rotten corpses.

A big fight had happened and it had claimed the lives of what looked like thousands. More shamefully, the bodies of those individuals had been left to rot.

However, right after that place dome-like structures made out of huge vines appeared in his view and he felt real danger for the first time.

They numbered a bit more than 30, and had huge flames on their top, signifying their position in the night.

Noah knew he had stepped into dangerous lands since his consciousness picked up other beings that had sensed him.

His destination was now less than 30 miles, but he could see the camp of the elves.

'So close,' he commented unafraid. His movement was steady and his eyes searched for any interesting detail.

Thanks to Ersha who had come across many elves in her lifetime, Noah could immediately know the perks of an Elf. Their connection with the world and mana. All elves had the same traits even across the many worlds Ersha had been to.

'Why would they make themselves known so easily,' Noah wondered finding that event weird. There was a war ongoing. Making your presence known in an enemy territory even if it was towards the edge of the nation was daring.

Noah would soon come to understand why, however, since a huge vine sprung up from the ground to chase after his figure.

He arced an eyebrow but refused to give the enemy his focus. Unfortunately, his instincts spiked and the world around him suddenly lit up with myriads of magical circles.

He stopped his motion to make Muliix appear on his skin. Noah watched huge vines spring forth from magical circles. There was nowhere to run. He had stepped into a trap.

The impact of the vines created a grating sound in the world. The vines had power in the middle stage, but they felt higher. Noah tasted the higher purity of the Elven magic.

He scoffed.

The sky rumbled as a huge cloud formed above that entangling mass of vines. He poured a significant portion of his essence into that cloud and commanded it to unleash its power.

A blinding silver light flooded the night sky, and that phenomenon could be seen for kilometers. What followed that event was the roaring of a lightning bolt that spoke of terrible might.

The huge spark; the size of buildings, landed on that ball of vines constantly trying to break his defense, to burn it away.

The residue hit the ground and started a big fire.

Noah appeared in the sky. His figure was covered by Muliixs' valiant and exquisite material. The battle armor continued to remain spectacular.

The silver patterns that filled its black material gave it an ancient feel. And that reality wasn't too far from the truth.

In his grip were his daggers and they shone with soft orange and purple light but felt incredibly dangerous.

Noah swept his gaze on his surroundings and found four figures ascending to meet him at that height. Their features were slightly distant from humans.

Elves.

They had glowing staffs in their hands and those staffs closely resembled the one the last person he killed had wielded, only this time runes hovered above the different gems embedded in the staffs.

One elf, in particular, a male moved closer, and Noah took in his youthful features. He was the strongest in the group.

"You're not human. You also don't belong to mana," the elf spoke, troubled. Noah's presence generated an unsettling feeling. Especially after they had seen the might in his sparks.

"You're not human either, and why have you revealed yourself this blatantly?" Noah questioned taking note of the four more individuals approaching them. It felt funny how each one of them had power in the fourth tier. But their standards would be different from the average human.

Thankfully Noah wasn't average and wasn't even fully human.

"I am the one to ask questions. You're the one at a disadvantage. Thing," the pale-brown-haired elf snorted speaking those words like a curse. He had suddenly gained hatred for the being before him.

Noah felt his instincts react negatively to that comment, but his anger-less mind refused to yield. Still, he considered it an insult and wondered if he would get the chance to make the elf eat his words.

"Nope. You're the one at a disadvantage. You better answer my question," Noah announced simply raising his daggers. The elves flinched and launched attacks even before he could complete that action.

Colorful manifestations of all four elements beamed forward to land on Noah's position. Unfortunately, their opponent wasn't one to lose in a battle of the quickest to move.

Leaving the head of the group alone, Noah moved in a semi-circle, directly claiming the lives of the seven elves behind the lead.

He gained three levels for doing that.
