Chapter 108 Shopping
After lunch, the pair resumed their stroll along the pedestrian street.
The pedestrian street was vast; they hadn't managed to explore it all in the morning.
As Qin Hao walked, he pondered the notion of opening a Jiangshan Roasted Duck Restaurant here, convinced that it would do well.
It was then that Du Wanrou suddenly suggested, "There's a big department store owned by Qin Hao over there, shall we have a look inside?"
Realizing what she meant, Qin Hao nodded and replied, "Mm-hm, sure."
The two entered Wanxing Supermarket, the largest store on the pedestrian street.
Despite the sweltering midday heat, the place was still bustling with people, many of whom came just to enjoy the air conditioning.
The first floor offered a variety of food, while clothes, shoes, and wallets were sold from the second floor up.
Having bought a bottle of water, they proceeded upstairs to find a vast second level replete with countless shops.
There were high-end designer shops as well as mid-range and budget brands.
Du Wanrou led him to a mid-range menswear shop.
The saleswoman greeted them with a smile, "Welcome! Feel free to try on any item you're interested in, sir, miss."
Du Wanrou stopped in front of a set of shorts and a T-shirt, turning to ask Qin Hao, "What do you think of this outfit?"
Qin Hao nodded, "It looks nice."
Du Wanrou said, "Then go try it on, I want to see how it looks."
Qin Hao paused, a bit taken aback. Is this for me? He had assumed Du Wanrou was shopping for her father.
He quickly protested, "No need, I have plenty of clothes."
Du Wanrou gave him a look and insisted, "Go try it on, it's a gesture from me."
Without further argument, Qin Hao took the clothes and entered the fitting room, emerging a few minutes later.

Du Wanrou nodded slightly, "Not bad, it looks good on you. Let's take this one."
Just then, a voice called out, "Hey, isn't that Qin Hao, my dear classmate?"
Yuan Zhengxiang walked in, accompanied by a woman — a rather plump one weighing probably around 170 pounds.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Her appearance was frankly less than stellar.
Qin Hao was somewhat surprised. Was this his girlfriend? He was quite handsome himself, a real talent; how could he be with someone like her?
He asked indifferently, "Is there something you need?"
Yuan Zhengxiang's gaze swept from Qin Hao to Du Wanrou, jealousy flickering in his eyes. "A pathetic man who can only rely on a woman."
Qin Hao furrowed his brow, but before he could retort,
Du Wanrou asked with a smile, "Is this Miss Li Dimei from Yumei Jewelry Company?"
Yuan Zhengxiang's face went through several shades, turning red then pale, mortification written all over it.
His expression darkened as he turned and walked away.
"Yuan Zhengxiang, you damn wait for me," Li Dimei said, fuming at being ignored as he ran off.
Sure enough, Yuan Zhengxiang stopped, turning back with a forced smile. "Da Mei, I... I need to use the restroom urgently," he said.
Li Dimei's voice was coarse, "Oh, then you better hurry, don't make yourself sick."
...
Qin Hao struggled to hold back laughter, asking Du Wanrou curiously, "What's the deal with those two? You know her?"
After paying for the clothes and walking out of the store, Du Wanrou explained, "Somehow, Yuan Zhengxiang's family got connected with Yumei Jewelry Company.
That Li Dimei is the heiress of Yumei Jewelry Company, the only daughter of the chairman. Their family business is in jewelry, too, so they need that sort of backer."
Qin Hao nodded his understanding. Yuan Zhengxiang was selling his attractiveness for his family's business development.
He couldn't help but admire the guy's endurance. Indeed, extraordinary circumstances required extraordinary actions.
