Chapter 82 - Doctor Richard.
In the hospital of Snowstar.
A figure with beautiful black hair and a pale complexion was seen lying on the bed while an expensive-looking VR Helmet was covering her features.
Soon, her emotionless face started changing as she started blinking. She looked at the visor covering her face and took the helmet off her head.
*Creak*
The door to her hospital room opened as two attractive-looking females came while wearing nurse outfits.
They smiled gently as they appeared next to the hospital bed.
''Luna, how are you feeling?'' The first nurse asked. She had a short pixie-style haircut with adorable facial features.
''I am fine, Maria,'' Luna replied with a soft smile on her face, which made her look pitiful when you look at her fatigued eyes and pale skin.
The second nurse grabbed the VR Helmet and put it gently on the desk.
''Thank you, Sofia,'' Luna said with gratitude.
Sofia had long blond hair with a petite body and mature-like face, which made her look like the older sister of others.
She gently smiled and replied, ''Did you have fun today?''
Luna smiled and nodded, ''I did.''
''Did you meet any boys?'' Maria teasingly asked while looking at the machine which shows Luna's vitals.
It was special made machine for patients with Winter Illnesses. They will know immediately if the patient will have a nosebleed or a stomach ache and will have enough time to prevent it.
Both are very dangerous for patients with Winter Illness because either of those can kill the patient.
''Hmph.'' Luna humped and crossed her arms, but a small hue of pink dyed her soft and pale-looking cheeks.
Sofia had a teasing smile, ''Maria, it seems that our princess is hiding something.''
Maria acted like she was hurt, ''Our Luna has been stolen.''
Sofia wiped her imaginary tears, ''They grow up so fast.''
Luna pouted and threw her pillow towards the two nurses.
Maria grabbed the pillow and smiled, ''Who is it? Is he handsome?!''
''Hmph.'' Luna turned her head away, not wanting to answer any questions.
Maria and Sofia wanted to tease her more, but then a tall doctor with well-defined facial features entered the room.
''Doctor Richard.'' Maria and Sofia both bowed.
Richard gently smiled, ''Luna, how are you feeling?''
''Good!'' Luna replied with a tired smile. She is getting easily tired, and she could barely keep her eyes open.
''Tired?'' Richard asked and touched her forehead.
''Mm.'' Luna nodded with her eyes slowly closing.
Maria and Sofia helped her to lie down and covered her petite figure with a blanket.
Richard looked at the machine with a serious expression.
The machine showed that Luna should be fine for the night, but he has learned not to trust machines with blind confidence.
That's why he reprogrammed it; if something is happening with Luna, he will find out immediately.
''Give her the medicine, and...'' Richard tapped his chiseled jawline and continued, ''Double the dose; she is looking paler than before.''
Maria and Sofia nodded. They started giving the medicine while Richard left the room.
Shortly afterward, he entered his office, where hundreds of papers were spread around on the floor.
He grabbed one of the papers with words [Winter Illness]
When he became a medical student, he started reading hundreds of books about this illness. One day he wanted to create the cure and print his name on the annals of history, but he hasn't gotten even close to figuring it out.
He sighed in frustration and scratched his head. He knows everything about Winter Illness but doesn't know how to cure it.
That makes him annoyed and frustrated at his lack of talent.
He remembered the pale complexion Luna has and that made him grimace.
Next week she will have surgery, which is mostly to slow down the spreading of the illness, but Richard knew that she won't have much time left.
Richard sat down on the ground and leaned on the wall, ''Always when I feel I am close to figuring it out... The answer will become more obscure.''
*Ring*
He snapped his head towards the direction of the sound and saw the sound coming from his phone. He lazily picked up the phone and answered the call.
''Yes?'' He answered with a lazy tone.
''Daddy?'' A innocent and young voice came from the other side of the phone.
Richard's laziness immediately disappeared, ''Laura, shouldn't you be sleeping?''
''Mommy said that I can give you one call!'' The innocent voice sounded very proud.
Richard chuckled, ''You blackmailed her, didn't you?''
''U-Umm.'' The voice became panicked, ''I-I told mommy that I-I will go sleep if I can give you one call!''
''You rascal.'' Richard lied down on the floor and listened to the breathing of his daughter.
''When will you come home?'' Laura asked with a hopeful tone.
Richard sadly smiled and looked at the pile of papers, ''Soon, honey. Go to sleep; I will be there when you wake up.''
''Alright!'' The voice became energetic instantly.
''Sweet dreams,'' Richard said.
''Good night!'' Laura said with a cheerful tone and disconnected the phone call.
Richard put the phone back in his pocket.
He looked at the pile of papers and stood up, ''Alright, time to create the cure.'' He cracked his knuckles and entered the world of research papers.
Luna resembles a lot of his daughter, and he knows that she has parents who love her.
Richard scratched his head and looked at the hundred papers in front of him, ''These won't help me create the cure... I need to figure something else out.''
His gaze lingered on a helmet with a golden color.
It was Gold-Ranked VR Helmet!
''What am I thinking...'' Richard sighed, and a stupid idea surfaced into his mind, ''Why do I feel like I can find a cure in that world...''
But, the voice inside his mind was too good at tempting, and soon he found the VR Helmet on his head.
Richard connected the VR Helmet with the internet and pressed [White Online]
His face became emotionless as his figure slumped down on the ground in an uncomfortable position.
He entered the world of White Online with only purpose.
To find a cure for Winter Illness!
