Zombolution: Unleash the Undying Power

Chapter 26: The True Identity of Zorvax

Chapter 26: The True Identity of Zorvax

Alex was bewildered as he watched the bewildering turn of events unfold before him. He muttered in disbelief, "It's impossible."

The scene reverted to a moment earlier, with Viktor sporting a triumphant grin as he observed the chaos in the Green Eagle camp. He rallied his troops with an unwavering determination, encouraging them with a resolute voice, "Attack! We will prevail in this battle."

Zorvax, standing alongside Viktor, concealed his smile behind his mask, radiating confidence as he nodded to his leader. His faith in their success remained steadfast.

As Viktor's rallying cry continued, a single bullet sliced through the air with chilling precision, piercing Viktor's head in an instant. His life was extinguished in the blink of an eye.

The Red Shark survivors were left in a state of shock, their expressions ranging from horror to confusion. The leader they had followed was now gone, just as their general had met his fate.

Among the Red Shark survivors, discussions ignited with a frenzy of shock and disbelief. "What do we do now?" one asked, his voice trembling with uncertainty.

Another survivor, trying to make sense of the sudden upheaval, mumbled, "We've lost our leader. Who's going to guide us from here on?"

Conversely, the Green Eagle group seized the moment with a sense of triumph. Their voices resonated with admiration for their leader's deadly precision in eliminating Viktor. "Our leader has come through once more," one of them proclaimed. "He took down Viktor, and now it's our turn to launch a counterattack."

The starkly contrasting reactions among the rival survivor groups underlined the unpredictable nature of the post-apocalyptic world they inhabited. While chaos and confusion reigned among the Red Shark survivors, the Green Eagle group seized the opportunity to strike back, their determination to protect their territory stronger than ever.

In the midst of the chaos, Zorvax, who had been standing by Viktor's side, shifted his gaze towards a distant spot where Alex, the sniper, had positioned himself. His eyes locked onto Alex, and with an eerie calm, he slowly removed his mask, revealing a face that sent shivers down Alex's spine.

What left Alex even more stunned was not only Zorvax's uncanny awareness of his hidden position but the chilling reality that Zorvax's visage resembled that of a human. His skin had taken on a peculiarly pale gray hue, and his eyes were a haunting, all-encompassing black.

A sudden realization crashed over Alex like a lightning bolt. He had been utterly deceived, and the truth that stared him in the face was nothing short of horrifying. Zorvax was not the human ally he had appeared to be; instead, he was something entirely different – a zombie.

Maria's gaze fixated on the stunned Alex, her brows knitting in concern. She inquired, "What's going on? Why do you seem so scared?"

Alex, his voice quivering with fear, turned to her, fear evident in his eyes as he began to explain, "We're in danger, Maria."

Confusion mingled with worry on Maria's face as she pressed, "Danger? What kind of danger are you talking about?"

Alex's voice was tinged with foreboding as he declared, "Zorvax isn't a human; he's a zombie."

Maria's shock was palpable, and she struggled to find words, stammering, "How is that even possible? He thinks and acts like a human."

Alex shook his head, his voice trembling with anxiety, "But I've seen it, Maria. His physical appearance is that of a zombie."

Maria's disbelief lingered as she insisted, "It can't be true."

With a heavy sigh, Alex attempted to make sense of their bizarre reality. He reasoned, "The apocalypse has been going on for a year, and the zombies are evolving. It's plausible that one of them has become more intelligent, and that's the one we're facing now, behaving like a human."

A sense of helplessness washed over Maria, and she questioned, "What should we do now?"

Alex's determination shone in his eyes as he responded, "Give me the bullet. I'll aim for his head. Zombies perish when you hit them in the head."

Nodding, Maria handed him the bullet. Alex loaded it into his sniper rifle and focused his aim on Zorvax's head. As he prepared to squeeze the trigger, he couldn't help but mutter, "This is for our safety."

With resolve, he pulled the trigger, releasing the bullet aimed at ending the threat posed by Zorvax. But to their astonishment, Zorvax smiled and swiftly drew his colossal bone sword, a deadly weapon in his hands. With a fluid and practiced motion, he sliced the bullet in two before it could reach him, the pieces landing harmlessly at his feet.

As the realization of their failed attempt to eliminate Zorvax sank in, Alex found himself at a loss. He stared in disbelief as the bullets he had fired were effortlessly cut by Zorvax's colossal bone sword. His frustration boiled over, and he couldn't help but mutter a curse under his breath, "Damn it, he cut through all my bullets!"

Maria, equally bewildered by the impossible outcome, voiced her concerns. Her voice trembled as she spoke, "How can this be? The bullets were enhanced by my wind, and you wield the best sniper rifle there is."

Alex swallowed hard, a sense of helplessness washing over him. He muttered, "I thought so too, Maria, but perhaps... just perhaps, Zorvax is something more formidable – a level two zombie."

Maria's eyes widened in fear as the implications of Alex's words began to settle in. She stammered, "We need to escape now. A level two zombie is a creature that even some of the top awakeners struggle to defeat. And this one, Zorvax, he has a mind. It's impossible for us to take him down."

Alex agreed with Maria's assessment, his voice laced with concern. "You're right. We have to get out of here. We can't..." His words were abruptly cut short by a deafening roar that echoed through the surroundings. The menacing sound emanated from Zorvax, leaving both of them pale-faced and trembling.
