Volume 2 Chapter 82: The Slums

"What do you mean you guys were taken out?!" Viscount Filems shouted when he saw his knights return home. They were injured! 

And it didn't look light. It looked more one-sided. 

He couldn't believe his men were taken out like that!

"Master, you can't deal with this kid." One of the knights stated.

From how those knights beat them so easily, the kid wasn't someone to be messed with. He had a backing!

"Shut it!" Viscount Filems yelled. There was no way he would let this brat get away! Not after everything that happened.

"Get out of my sight right now!" The knights walked out of the office. 

Viscount Filems turned to his butler, "We need to send people to deal with the brat!" Since he couldn't destroy the bakery, it was time to target the kid himself!

"Go find people from the slums!" 

"Are you sure this is wise?" The people from the slums were all poor people. They couldn't compare to the knights. 

"There's so many people there. They would do anything for coins," Viscount Filems laughed as he stated. 

"Understood," The butler nodded.

Keith returned to the bakery. But this time, there were two guards there. William decided that there should be added protection. 

And the two guards weren't imposing like Logan and Michael. But they were enough. They had calmed any customer who tried to mess with the bakery. 

Keith didn't need to worry about Ralph and the others. He looked at Fira and Aria, 

"Let's go to Orin and get that tool," Keith had a bunch of bread in his hand. This was payment for the tool Orin was making. 

Keith had asked Orin to create something that would make organized coins better.

"Kid, this is simple," Orin scoffed at the idea. It was too simple. For payment, he wanted only bread from the shop. As Keith headed toward his workshop, 

"That's the person,"

"Mmhmm,"

"Do we really have to attack him? He's a child," One voice questioned their actions.

"We have to! Don't you have to bring your daughter to the hospital? We have to do it!"

Keith continued to walk, but he started to shift around, leading to somewhere else, 

"I know you guys are following me. Come out," Keith stated with a huff. Aria and he sensed them long ago. That was why he took another turn to be away from the public. 

"You knew?!" The people quickly came out of the scene. There were a total of five people. 

"You guys aren't the best hiders," It was easy. They didn't hide their breathing as they followed after him. 

"I'm sorry, but we're going to have to hurt you!"

"Huh?" Keith blinked a few times when he heard that. 

"Attack!" One screamed, and the rest charged at Keith! But did they forget about who was with him?

"Kwak!" Aria roared out and shot icicles towards the ground. It halted all of their movements! 

An Apex monster was here. And the bloodlust coming off from the owl was incredible. That caused all of them to freeze. 

Keith sighed, "I won't attack you guys. But I have to tie you up," He looked up at the sky, 

"Michael! Come down and help me out!" Keith roared. 

"How do you know I'm here?! Did the bird tell you?!" Michael shouted as he jumped down from the roof. 

"A hunch," Keith answered. He took some rope and tied these people up without a thought. And like that, they were brought over to Orin's shop,  

"Orin, do you have the thing I asked for?" Keith shouted.

"Yeah, Kid! And-what the?! Hugo! Why are you tied up?!" Orin blinked as he stared at one of the people there, 

"You know him?" Keith questioned. 

Orin nodded, "Yes, I know him. We used to be rivals,"

Huh? Keith blinked a few times. Michael was the same as he added, "Well, your rival tried to attack the kid,"

Orin stared at Hugo, "What are you doing?! Why are you attacking the kid?! Have you fallen so low?!" He couldn't believe it! 

He was his rival?! How could he fall so low?

"I had to! My daughter is sick!" Hugo roared.

"Huh?" Orin blinked, "What happened?!"

Hugo explained, "Do you understand how the slums are?! We need to do everything we can to live! That means taking all the jobs possible! My daughter is sick! I have to do it!"

"..." Orin and Michael said nothing.

"The slums?" Keith tilted his head. This was the first time he heard about it. 

Orin stated, "Kid, it's something you're too young to know,"

"Hmm?" Keith turned to Michael, who was silent. He turned to Hugo, "Tell me what the slum is,"

Hugo stated, "It's a place where there are people who are poor and have nothing to stay at,"

"We don't have work, so that's the only place we can go,"

"It's better than nothing," 

"Does Father know about this?" Keith questioned Michael. 

"Kid, your father has been trying his best to fix it all this time," Michael stated.

"He's right. Sir William tried his best to fix the slums. But there was too much for him,"

"...I see," Keith thought about it before deciding, "Alright! Let's go to the slums,"
