Volume 2 Chapter 91: Something In Mind

"Alright, we're done with these apartments!" Keith stated as he stared at the apartments constructed. It was incredible.

It was only a few months, but they had built many apartments in this period.

"We did it!" Keith shouted it! And when he did it, the others did the same. Even though others needed to be built, this was a great start!

"Help the people start moving in!" Keith stated.

"Understood," This was the usual routine. Whenever an apartment building was finished, the others would help the people move in.

"Thanks a lot, Orin," Keith turned to Orin. Orin had been helping out for the most part with the construction.

"It's fine. But kid, are you not afraid that the other townspeople would come and rent these homes instead?" The inside of the apartments were almost the same as those in the town. They would definitely want to rent it.

"I thought about it. The renting system for these homes will be different from others," Keith talked with William about this.

...

"Percentage?" William blinked his eyes when he heard that.

Keith nodded and explained, "Yes, I want these apartments to be rented as a percentage," That was one way to keep the rent low.

The rent for the person would be based on their wage.

"By doing something like this, we can gain something from the slums," Keith understood the slum was an area William didn't tax. He left it there so the people would have at least a place to stay.

William thought hard about this. He turned to Carter, "What do you think about this?"

"This idea is feasible," Carter clapped his hands together.

"What percentage do you want to go with, Keith?"

"Right now, I was thinking about 35 percent of their income. We'll split it as 30 as the rent and 5 as tax," Keith stated.

"Have you thought of a minimum to have?" William questioned. There should be a minimum. Not having one would make this exploitable.

"The minimum should be 3 gold coins," Keith stated. He had the same thoughts as his father.

"Understood. But what will do with the people that still want to come?" William questioned. He understood some townspeople who had small wages would still want to come here,

"I think that would be fine," Keith didn't mind some people living in those apartments. He added, "With how many we are building, it will be okay for the townspeople to live there."

"Also, the housing would be different as well,"

...

"The apartment isn't better than the ones in the town," Keith explained.

"Hmm?"

"Each room has the basic requirements. But there's also no water," Keith pointed at the pump outside, "They would need to get it from there,"

There was a shower room in each room. But the people needed to grab their own water for it to work.

"I see. The other homes have their own water source," Orin nodded. Those homes had water crystals.

"Of course, there are some problems as time goes on, but this is good for now," Keith had to be content with this,

"This is already great," Orin stated. With the creation of the homes, the people from the slums obtained a place to sleep. They also got jobs as well.

"And the roads feel better," Orin stated. While he walked around in the streets, he felt it was different from before. More kids were playing outside. Not only that, it felt brighter.

"Heh," Keith rubbed his nose when he heard this. That was what he wanted.

"Also, I think more people are coming into the town as well," Orin realized. There were more people entering the town.

"We need to find more opportunities to make more jobs," Keith declared.

Orin tilted his head, "You want to add more jobs?"

"I have one way to do that," Keith smiled.

"What?" Orin chuckled. Why am I not surprised by this? Keith always had ideas ready.

"Mmhmm. Before that, I need to work on something else," There was something Keith had to do.
