Volume 3.5 Chapter 9: Adventurer

"It's an interesting design, considering it was made by a human," One dwarf stated.

"Indeed."

"But what about this one? What's with the windows?" The dwarf questioned as he noticed a strange design with the window.

"Oh, I was thinking about having the window as high as the ceiling. I thought that would give the room a lot of light." Keith answered.

A lot of sunlight would be great for the kitchen.

"But you need a strong dark color to contrast with so much light," A dwarf stated.

"I thought that contrast would make it interesting. But using dark colors would make it strange," Dark colors would add a nice touch. But it would also look strange too.

One by one, the dwarves kept talking to Keith, telling Keith their input on his design.

Keith also gave them his reasoning for his designs. Dalen observed them talk with one another. He didn't say anything and only watched.

"Thanks for your input," It was only an hour after they finished their conversation. Keith got a lot of input from the dwarves. He turned to Dalen,

"Thank you for your time,"

"Don't mention it,"

Once Keith left the workshop, Dalen questioned, "Do you guys know what you did?"

"Hmm?" The dwarves tilted their heads.

"You were talking with a human," Dalen chuckled. Did they forget about the race Keith was in?

"..." The dwarves' eyes widened as they looked at one another. But they shouted,

"Dammit!"

"We did!"

So you guys realized who you were talking to now? Dalen shook his head, "You guys were so into it," This was a rare sight. The dwarves were so focused on his designs as they discussed.

"That's because the kid was so serious about it!"

"As dwarves, we have to make the job perfect!"

"But he had a good brain for a human,"

"But bad taste in color,"

"You have a bad taste in color!" Are you still going on about that? Like that, the dwarves started to argue again. Dalen shook his head,

I kind of understand what Orin said about him being special.

...

"I'm home!" Keith screamed as he walked out from the gate.

"Po!" "Keith!" "Ho!" The three animals dived at his face. Keith caught them and snuggled them.

"Welcome home, Keith," Diana greeted Keith as she watched the animals swarmed him! Keith smiled,

"Mmhmm. Are you doing fine on the island, Diana?"

"I'm doing fine," Diana smiled, "With Fira here teaching me what to do, it had been a good time,"

"Mmmhmm! Mmhmm!" Fira nodded. She had a proud expression, "I've been teaching big sister Diana what to do on the island!"

"Good job," Keith patted the little spirit's head.

"Hello, Keith,"

"Hi, professor Aidiun," Keith greeted Aidiun,

"Everything is good here, right?" Aidiun questioned. His job was to oversee and manage the island.

"Mmhmm, it has been doing good," Keith nodded. He took off his blazer,

"I'm going to make dinner," Keith rolled up his sleeve. It was time to get something to eat,

Diana's expression brightened when she heard that.

"What are you planning to make?"

"Cream stew," Keith was making something simple for everyone to eat. Like that, Keith got to work. It didn't take long before he placed the food down. While they ate,

"Professor Aidiun,"

"What's the matter, Keith?"

"I was wondering where I can search for new vegetables?" Keith questioned. This was something he needed to figure out. One of the reasons why he was excited to come here was to obtain new vegetables and fruits.

He was interested in figuring out how to cook them.

"If you want interesting vegetables and fruits, you can buy them from the stores?" Aidiun questioned. That was what most people did.

Keith scratched his head, "I tried to buy it from a stall. But the person didn't let me buy it," They either screamed or overcharged him like no tomorrow.

"What? Why wouldn't they sell it to you?!" Diana questioned. She was surprised people would do something like that. But Aidiun understood,

"If you can't buy it inside the city, you can search for them outside,"

"I can leave the city?"

"Of course you can. Remember to bring your ID if you're going out. You will have to pay a fee if you don't,"

"Understood!" Keith nodded.

"And if you're going to search for things outside, you should register as an adventurer."

"An adventurer?"

"Mmhmm! If you become an adventurer, you can take missions to earn coins," Aidiun explained.

"I see," Keith clapped his hands together, "Then I won't be in class for tomorrow,"

"Are you going to be fine skipping class?" Aidiun questioned. As his professor, he couldn't condone this.

Keith nodded, "I don't need to worry about it. I have enough notes. Also, I got you as the manager."

One of the bright sides of having Aidiun was that he could teach him later.

"I'm going to go out and search for new ingredients!" Keith pumped his fist!

Aidiun and Diana stared at his fierce eyes. He was so tense and scary at the same time.

"When Keith is like that, you just need to nod," Fira told Diana and Aidiun. Mir and Aria understood.

"I see," The two nodded. Pretending everything was fine was the course of action.
