Chapter 114: Memorizing rune designs

Chapter 114: Memorizing rune designs

This was the first time Whittaker had come in contact with magical runes designs, hence he was completely unable to recognize what level these runes were. Magical runes were divided into three levels. The first was basic runes. The complexity in their design lacked a lot in comparison to intermediate, advanced, and peak level magical runes. With his current understanding of magical runes, he wasn't even sure what type of runes they are; However, he didn't care much about it as he was just trying to memorize these runes in his mind.

Whittaker's expression grew calmer as gentle winds bellowed past each side of his face, gently fluttering the locks of his snowy-white hairs. Excitement surged in his eyes as he gazed at the runes inscribed on the steles of rock and steel and the trunks of the ancient trees.

A certain ritual has been passed down since ancient times. Every formation master that wanted to leave his mark on the world would come to a certain place to inscribe his magical runes for the future generation. The place can be a barren land, a magical forest, or a hidden cave. One of such places was Zachary's palace practice ground. Most formation masters aren't even able to find a suitable student in their entire life, hence they jot their knowledge in this place so that someone worthy will learn it. This was a way that has been truly helping in flourishing the formation master profession for the past several decades.

In several seconds, Whittaker has memorized a considerable amount of magical runes design, surprising even the rank-10 reality-management formation spirit, Nina.

She was able to discern that he had learned them because the steles exploded into particles of multi-colored light after Whittaker memorized them. Furthermore, the runes on the tree trunks also vanished after Whittaker memorized them.

Since someone worthy has managed to memorize them, there was no reason for them to exist. One of the reasons behind this occurrence was so that two peoples won't learn the same magical runes that a single person created otherwise, it can lead to trouble in the future if both were to become enemies.

"Little brother, you can memorize these runes later. For now, let's go meet the owner of this place, Zachary. He is waiting for your arrival." Nina Zachary said to Whittaker, whose gaze has been sweeping back and forth, his icy crystal-like pupils memorizing the magical runes at an abrupt rate. If this continues, she believed that this entire ground will be cleared of their magical runes designs in several hours.

Whittaker walked up to her and said, "It isn't good to keep a guest waiting for long so elder sis, let's go meet him!"

An honest smile had emerged on his immature face when he said that. It was because he had already considered himself to be the master of this place. This was his inheritance, after all. Plus, he wanted to tease Elder Zachary.

"Pfft!" Nina cracked and sweet laughter roared out. Elder Zachary, who was positioned at the central command room, also cracked. "What a brat. He even knows how to play others with words!"

After holding his hand, Nina led Whittaker deeper into the forest with ancient towering trees. The place was surrounded by a mysterious formation and Whittaker will be lost if he isn't touching Nina. As Whittaker followed, he saw many more complicated magical runes designs amidst the lingering misty clouds. They were so far above that clouds and land had become one. They walked through the cloudy land, passing by tablets that belonged to people close to Elder Zachary's. One by one, his relatives and friends had died, leaving him all alone.

In the end, her steps paused right after they reached the palace doors. The towering palace doors were closed and chained by many golden locks. As a safety measure, the doors could only be opened by Nina.

Rumble! A rumbling noise was immediately heard when Nina placed her hands. Whittaker watched in astonishment as one by one, the layers of golden locks opened. Soon after, with a very light touch, the heavy and thick palace door slowly cracked open revealing a mesmerizing magical beast and the interior of the palace. It was rather dark but the mysterious beast's flaming tail illuminated the deep darkness. Magical runes decorated the walls and various magic constructs were placed nearby the walls. In the middle was a marbled staircase that reached the top of the palace. The palace was very huge and its top thurst it's way to the sky.

All in all, this place appeared very mysterious to the young boy.

Nina glanced at the flame steed after walking up to it. Light orbs activated the moment Whittaker stepped inside the palace, illuminating the place with yellow lightning.

Nina sat on the Scarlet unicorn with two-small and one large reddish horn. She smiled as she witnessed the overexcited boy, who hurried over when she said, "Come on. You can sit on it."

"So this beast only knows how to run!" While thinking that Whittaker sat on its back.

After Whittaker mounted it, Nina slightly patted the side of Cass's face coated with furs and said, "Let's go, Cassandra, to the central command room."

The Central command room was located at the peak of the palace. There was a distance of 99999 stairs between them. If they were to run up then it would take them days to reach that place; however, the same couldn't be said for Cass.

She galloped so fast that Whittaker had to fasten his hand around Nina's waist otherwise he would fall over. Nina, on the other hand, was able to maintain her balance very easily as she was a trained rider.
