Chapter 115: One finger (a)

Chapter 115: One finger (a)

In his heart, Whittaker had named Cassandra, the lofty-cloud steed as a mere horse. She only knew how to run, after all. Plus, she was a girl so he named it horsie.

During the entire ride, Whittaker and Nina did not speak as horsie ran too fast. Whittaker had taken cover behind Nina's back otherwise, the wind would have smacked him off its back. Only the clanking sound of horsie footsteps filled the staircase as it ran towards the top of the staircase. After galloping for about a dozen minutes, horsie footsteps finally stopped. In just some minutes, they had reached the top of the staircase.

"We will have to get off here to enter the central command room," Nina said.

Magical beasts weren't allowed inside that place. Their bodies were too large and with a single misstep, they could destroy a thing very precious to Elder Zachary.

Whittaker and Nina got off Cassandra's back, who was positioned one step away from the room. The room couldn't be seen because the invisible formation hid it from prying eyes.

They took one more step and Whittaker felt that he have crossed a barrier. Right after, they had reached the central command room.

As his vision focused on the surrounding, he noticed an old man sitting on a wheelchair placed right in front of a Sculpture of a woman. The Sculpture was placed in the middle of a silvery fountain. Occasionally, streams of moon milk will shot out from each side, sprinkling on the sculpture.

This was a costly method developed by Elder Zachary to keep the sculpture of his wife, the Scarlet enchantress fresh!

Night's will system notifications containing information about the things in front popped up in his vision.

'What a waste!' Whittaker thought. According to the system's notification, the sculpture was made from high-quality moonstone and the old man was none other than Elder Zachary; However, the sculpture was really precious to Zachary and he didn't mind wasting his wealth on keeping it fresh.

A stone platform was erected on an area some meter away from the old man. With a glance, Whittaker discovered that numerous magical runes were inscribed onto the surface of the stone platform. These runes formed a certain word written in the runic language. He didn't know what it is, but the formation has many uses. Also, it was a formation necessary to become one with the Heart of hope.

Whittaker and Nina headed straight towards Elder Zachary; However, Whittaker's steps paused after he reached some meters away from the Elder.

"Hmm?" Elder Zachary had great hearing senses and he could hear the sound of footsteps. He noticed that Whittaker has suddenly halted so his hands reached out to turn the wheelchair towards Whittaker.

"Little brother, what's wrong?" Nina asked while Elder Zachary stared at him.

"Elder, I would like to have a spar with you! Can I?" Whittaker asked. Honestly, at first, he wanted to battle it out with him; However, his battle intent and anger died down after he noticed that the number one formation master of this world was using a wheelchair.

He didn't have the heart to bully a weak old man with a crippled lower body. His morals and consciousness didn't allow him.

That's why he opted for a simple spar with the elderly man. In a sense, Elder Zachary had killed Whittaker and cruelly tortured him. There's no way he was gonna let go of this matter without seeking some compensation. He wanted to teach some manners to the shameless old man, who was shocked, once again.

"Nina, did the young boy just said that he wanted to fight me?"

Yes! It's as you heard, little brother wants to fight you

"Hahaha!" Hearing the snowy-haired boy's words, Elder Zachary started to laugh in a wild manner as if this was the greatest joke he has ever heard in his life.

"Do elder believe that I won't be able to spar with you?" Whittaker's brows raised in displeasure. According to the info on the mana met, Zachary was the number one formation master in the world but his true power level was around B-rank peak.

With the power of ice elemental avatar, Whittaker was certain that putting up a fight with the elder will not be much of a problem; however, he was wrong.

"Boy, you are a Devansha and battle is in your blood but learn to control it otherwise, you will meet a dreadful end. As for your question, young friend, you are too young to face me." As Elder Zachary said these words, a change occurred in his body. Previously, he was like an old man that seemed to be halfway into the coffin, now, however, a majestic aura seemed to adorn his every action.

Whittaker didn't know what to do, Elder Zachary was being too courteous. Also, his aura and words have caused him to think twice. When Whittaker heard Elder Zachary speaking with him casually as if they were friends, he was reminded of the talk that had taken place at the start of the trial. He thought, 'At that time, I was the one who told Elder Zachary to not shy away from befriending me and now we have become friends.'

Elder Zachary continued with an important lecture, "Besides, the act of a low-ranked awakened challenging a High-ranked awakened is considered very rude in the awakened continent, and can lead to dreadful consequences. Today, it's me so nothing will happen to you as we are friends. But If it was some other strong being then you being humiliated would have the least probability of happening while you being attacked and killed would have the highest probability of happening."

"I won't crush an ant if it's not bothering me but if it does then I don't mind stepping over it." That's the temperament that most high-ranked awakened have. Whittaker had foolishly acted as a silk pant young master but Elder Zachary only reprimands him.

Whittaker's eyes blinked in thoughts. The old man had lived for a very long time so his words are bound to be right; However, Whittaker was still curious and he wanted to know how powerful a B-ranked and above expert is.
