Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 400 Troubled

As he thought of checking the other items he obtained, he noticed that a group of people were approaching him.

Lord Han Zhuo approached Shane, and his expression was filled with gratitude and respect. He had definitely seen what he had just completed.

"Thank you, Shane. Your quick thinking and skill were crucial in defeating that Leader Zombie. I thought that we'd have to sacrifice more Light Orbs before we could kill that thing. I have to put those Light Orbs in a better location and protect them well. Can we purchase more of these orbs? I need about a hundred of them… However, can we pay with Gold Taels and Zombie Cores this time?"

"Gold Taels… Of course, we can do that… I can try to find more Light Orbs and get back to you later. I'm also glad we could help." Shane replied.

"That's great to hear, Sir Shane…" Lord Han Zhuo said. They then ended their conversation since he still had to deal with the casualties in this battle.

Nonetheless, because of this event, the people could no longer fall asleep, and soon, they smelled numerous tasty foods around the shelter.

Many people, civilians or guards, started filling their stomachs as they just couldn't help but get hungry from the smell.

As the sun began to rise, casting its first light over the shelter, Shane already had his meal and was planning to look around the places that Lysandra and the other girls suggested to visit. These stores they found were actually selling Pet Eggs and things that seemed to be dropped by Zombies like Spitter Zombie's Acid Pouch, Jumper Zombie's Tendons, and others.

However, as he was planning to do this, he received an urgent message from Diana and Sandra…

"This…" Shane was alarmed as he read the message.

Apparently, these two had decided to follow him instead of going to his Spring River Manor. Probably because they both had portable bicycles, a carriage, or any type of vehicle, they were able to actually get a lot closer than Shane thought…

However, they didn't follow Shane's path, and they were now in trouble!

A few days ago, after the Boss Raid Event, Sandra and Diana were able to meet each other. Currently, they stood at the edge of a valley, surveying the treacherous terrain ahead.

Their system map showed that they had to pass through this terrain and travel for three more days before they could meet with Shane's current group.

Diana, Shane's step-sister and a skilled blacksmith, turned to Sandra… "Let's go…" she said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

Sandra, the agile scout gifted with a unique Flight Talent, nodded in agreement.

"I've rested enough anyway… The two should be ready as well." Sandra replied.

These two weren't that strong. They have unique Survivor Skills and decent equipment and weapons, but they haven't dared to go outside their shelter before.

However, it was different now since they'd received their rewards in the Boss Raid Event. One of those rewards was the Legendary Recruitment Stones.

"Gregor… Kaela… Let's go…" Diana called out. Soon, the two figures stood before them.

The first was Gregor, a brawny man with a rugged beard wearing a blindfold. His axe rested comfortably on his shoulder, and he walked without any issues even though he was blind.

"You're axe looked really old. Are you sure it will last long?" Sandra asked, as it looked like it was in terrible shape already.

"I've hunted hundreds of grizzly bears with just this axe," he boasted, flexing his muscles. "I can hunt thousands of creatures with this axe… The more blood it gets, the stronger it becomes." Gregor replied.

This was the first time Diana and Sandra had heard about this. They hadn't asked about it before since they were polite about it. However, they didn't expect that even if it looked rusted and chipped in numerous parts, it was actually magical equipment.

The second was Kaela, a formidable female warrior wielding a massive halberd.

"I didn't expect that… Ahem… Kaela, is that halberd also magical? Can you tell me more about it?" Diana asked. Initially, she was only satisfied that they were incredibly strong and loyal, so she didn't ask too much.

This time, however, with their long journey, she felt inclined to know more about them and their life before they got summoned.

"This halberd isn't too special… It's just durable. Mhm… I guess the only special thing about this is that it was a gift from a prince after I became a legion commander. I once commanded ten thousand soldiers…" She said proudly, even reminiscing about her glorious life before the Zombies invaded the world.

Soon, the group started to fully engage in conversation as they all learned numerous things about each other. This was all happening while navigating through the valley.

However, as they traveled deeper into the valley, the atmosphere shifted.

"Something's off…" Kaela muttered.

Suddenly, the surroundings felt eerie... It was too silent, and it was definitely not a good thing since it meant that the Zombies around here were eliminated by some others and if they met, it wasn't hard to predict that there could be conflict.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

During this time, it was just too difficult to trust somebody…

Suddenly, shadows emerged from behind the rocky outcrops. They were a group of Survivors, and they were all exuding an aura of malice.

"Look what we have here," The ringleader sneered, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "A little band of misfits. You won't get far with that gear."

Sandra frowned, but she wasn't panicking. There were only eight people, and they all wore SWAT Uniforms.

She was confident of winning with their current weapons. However, she was a bit unsure about the Talismans they were carrying in their hands. Instead of carrying swords and guns, they were holding paper Talismans, and these things must've been looted with the system's help or purchased from the Survivor Store or Reputation Store…

"We'll be on the defensive for now… Let's see how those Talismans work first." Diana said.

"Shouldn't we strike first before they can use it?" Sandra asked.
