Paragon of Death

Chapter 52

Chapter 52: Chapter 51: More than just a werewolf

“Don’t tell me you are having some sort of flashback now” Lucy laughed out loud as she noticed the puzzled look on Damon’s face.

For the first time in forever, Damon’s face turned red due to embarrassment and he couldn’t help but look away. He wanted to ask what kind of face he was making but he was just too embarrassed to ask.

“I’m so sorry! I am so sorry! I saw the opportunity and jumped at it. I didn’t plan to say that out loud but I just couldn’t help myself!” Lucy said while struggling not to laugh making Damon feel even more embarrassed.

The two laughed and chatted about other things. Since this is the castle dedicated to the chosen, they didn’t have to bother with anyone else. Most Chosen doesn’t even come down to the cafeteria. They have their meal brought up to them, so they were truly alone.

During this time, Damon got to know more about Lucy. It felt like the lady was completely transparent with him. A fun and a jovial person with a great sense of humor. She let her guards down in hopes of getting Damon to trust her and Damon knew this which led him to wonder how important the issue may be.

He casually munched on the last piece of steak before pouring some lemon juice down his throat. His eyes narrowed as he rubbed his hair back and then leaned forward.

“I am done eating now. So why did you seek me out?” Damon asked.

.....

“I am saying this for your sake and mine. Amongst supernatural beasts, there are tiers and levels. Werewolves, vampires, Basilisks, and a handful of others make the top of the list in terms of ratings. The rest are simply considered extras.” Lucy said with a stern look and Damon nodded in agreement.

In the realm of the supernatural, it may sound stupid to place some supernatural beings above the others but it cannot be denied that some supernatural beings possess power that can be considered dangerous to mankind.

No one is born equal, this rule also applies in the world of the supernatural.

“I know this already. So how does that affect me in any way?” Damon asked with a raised eyebrow.

“They are planning to revolt....” Lucy said with a grave look on her face which made Damon frown.

While he didn’t understand the meaning behind her words, judging based on her facial expression alone it turned out to be something very serious.

“What do you mean?” Damon asked slowly.

“The fight between the mages and fighters is a perfect cover. Haven’t you noticed they are all keeping a low profile? They are planning to get rid of us. Once we are gone there will be no one capable of stopping them in this academy” Lucy explained and Damon leaned back and gazed at her as if he was looking at an idiot.

“This sounds made up and crazy... Somethings don’t add up” Damon said calmly with a frown.

The details she gave him were far too disorganized and random for him to process. He had an idea of what she was trying to say but he wasn’t too concerned though. If these supernatural beings do decide to join hands, they won’t be here.

In this academy, Archmage Kratos is the law! They are only safe because they have unique methods of concealing their presence. Once they make themselves known they will die long before they can do anything worth his attention.

“If there is nothing else I will be leaving. I don’t think you are a bad person so I won’t try to kill you. At least not here. If I do meet you outside in a lonely place, at night I may not hesitate to strike you down” Damon said with a bright smile before walking away.

Seeing this Lucy stood up abruptly and grabbed him by the shoulder.

“You are seriously going to brush all of this off like it’s nothing?” Lucy sounded offended and Damon could understand. It was obvious he wasn’t taking her seriously. Anyone would be offended by his attitude.

“I have three reasons why I won’t take you seriously.” Damon said casually as he pushed her hand off his shoulder while maintaining an indifferent look.

“The first is simple. I cannot be killed. Unlike you, I have the backing of the most powerful mage in the kingdom. As long as it happens within this academy, they cannot harm me” Damon said as he mimicked her actions back in his room and raised a finger.

“The second is also obvious. Did you really think I would believe you and act on random information? No matter how pressing it is. If I do not get well-detailed and accurate information I won’t get involved. I rather not go into the enemy territory with only hints and guesses to rely on. If you wish to have my attention, bring some proof and well-organized information next time” Damon said as he raised the second finger.

“The third and final reason pisses me off a little. Basilisks are territorial beasts. The moment you entered this academy the entire academy was marked as your territory. Having me help you wipe them out is no different from removing potential threats and keeping you in check... so why would I do that? If it wasn’t for my means of contacting the archmage you may have tried to kill me already. Am I wrong?” Damon asked with a slight frown on his face.

She may try to hide it as much as possible within the smiles and all that but Damon could feel it all. The hidden emotion in her heart! Her strong killing intention is directed toward him.

“No negative emotion gets past my magic... I can read your heart like a book” Damon said coldly which made her frown as well.

Hearing this she took a step back and the fun girl image that she had built up vanished. A green aura was slowly surrounding her but then a fierce aura exploded from Damon, leaving her stunned.

The tables around were thrown away by the force while Damon stood with his darkish purple aura taking the shape of a wolf, making Lucy shudder.

“When I said you cannot kill me, I wasn’t joking. I am more than just a werewolf” Damon said with a cruel smile.
