Chapter 2847 Political Dispute
Chapter 2847 Political Dispute
The situation in the Guild Council heated up, but neither side moved beyond their words. Those opposed to the discussion proposed by one of Navey's supporters stood up and left with Segiel, leaving only five Elders at Navey's side.
The alien narrowed his eyes in the direction of the meeting room's exit, while those he influenced looked at him, waiting for his position.
"What do we do, Elder? Without the support of all the Elders, it will be difficult to justify anything to the Supreme Leader or even to Minos later. We won't be able to block Kendrick's paths peacefully," said the one who had most voiced the council's concern about the growth in power of Minos and his faction.
"Surround the Stuart Family. They'll be under house arrest until further notice." Navey said, one-sided, deciding to do so.
As the strongest Elder in place and without the Supreme Leader to command, he was naturally the one with the most power and influence in the guild at the moment.
It would have been better for him to act with the support of the Council as a whole, but since he didn't have what he wanted, he would act with what he had!
One of the Elders rushed to give the orders, while the others worried about their future prospects. It would be better not to have a disagreement like this, but they didn't want to lose control of the guild to the Stuart Family in silence!
'Minos Stuart certainly has the part of a True Celestial with him. That's why he's become so strong.' Navey thought to himself silently, seeing that he had been right to choose to keep an eye on Minos. But he couldn't help acknowledging that he had been wrong to choose to wait so long for him to grow up.
In the blink of an eye, Minos had ceased to be an interesting target and had become a dangerous competitor whom he himself didn't know if he could face under the current circumstances.
Thinking about this and feeling regretful, Navey could only turn his focus to a new plan. 'I can only use his family. He's probably out of my reach, but their children might one day get parts of True Celestials, too. I'll put a bit of pressure on them now and get a deal that will give me the edge over them even considering these Hell Lifelings!'
...
Navey's orders quickly took effect, with the Stuart Family's headquarters estate in Oqia being surrounded by guild generals under the command of the Council.
No one on the estate, not even the faction members who came and went from there every day, were surprised by this. Having already been warned by Kendrick that this would happen before long, everyone was prepared when they were surrounded on this day.
Kendrick was now standing next to his family inside the building, almost all the family members being there at the moment, having returned from their outposts at his request. The only ones not there now were those traveling to the Spiritual World to look for more of his family to come to Zocarro.
Kendrick said to his group after confirming his people's house arrest orders, "We're going to stay in seclusion and avoid contact with guild members from now on. Even our faction members are to be avoided from now on. We will await the arrival of my mother's Hell Lifelings to make our move."
"What will the Elders try against us? Will we be able to deal with the Supremes' actions until this group arrives?" Maisie raised these questions. "It will take at least a year for Minos' envoys to make their way here."
"I don't know what they want, but they can't try to go too far. They don't have the support of all the Council Elders and they could be risking reprisals from my father," Kendrick replied to his grandmother. "But we'll watch. I believe our envoys will arrive sooner than the Elders expect, so we may not have to wait that long."
Lily said with a clenched fist. "If those petty Elders want trouble, then they'd better get ready. We won't be pitied just because we've been companions for so long."
The more experienced looked at Lily, aware of this young woman's power, but not so much of her calling to command. She was a good warrior, but not as calm as she should have been.
"Let's stay calm, Lily. This is the future of the Stuart Family we're talking about," said the girl's grandmother, remembering her time at the court of the Flaming Empire. "This is a political dispute and, as such, it should be settled with agreements. There's no point in an internal struggle that will weaken the guild and give possibilities to our enemies."
No one there was foolish enough to think that just because Armhands had become the predominant force in Oqia, it meant that they no longer had any enemies. Not only that, the guild now had Uzira as its focus and in Uzira there were enemies even stronger than them.
Now that there was established communication between the guild's outpost on that continent and headquarters, they were aware of the local situation in Uzira and the presence of Celestials around the continent.
They couldn't allow themselves to be weakened in the face of the current circumstances.
"Perhaps you young people should trust our recommendations a little more from now on." Oswald said to the group, looking at his great-grandchildren with an advisory look on his experienced face. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Elder Navey is playing to win something he wants. Let's dance according to his will for now and make him achieve only what we wish for the future." Said the experienced man, attracting the attention of the younger members of the family, such as Kendrick and Grisdi's son, who was already big enough to understand the family's current situation.
Meanwhile, Kendrick's dragons, Lily, and Hollie, were a little disappointed, eager to do battle now that they were mid-level Sovereigns, getting closer to becoming powerful enough to influence their masters' daily lives.
Kendrick agreed with his great-grandfather. "We'll take your political advice for now. Let's wait until Leger's group arrives so we can learn more about my father's intentions."
The group agreed unanimously, soon dispersing around the family's large estate, where there was enough space for them to study, cultivate, and train while they were stuck there.
